The first meeting of Hami Nepal for the protest to save Ghopa Camp.
An emergency meeting was called five months ago. It was about a hospital called BPKIHS (locals call it ghopa camp). After spending 22 days researching the hospital, Sudan returned to Kathmandu after witnessing the tragic reality of patients being treated on the floor and doctors giving their all to their patients with limited resources. The history of incompetence and corruption is so extensive that making a donation to address the issue would be risky. The only option left was to PROTEST...
We also discussed on how to awaken the youth and residents of Dharan and inspire them to participate in the protest in order to bring about a long-lasting change and put an end to this misery. The decision of whether to use the name of the group they had worked so hard to establish could be at risk if the protest failed. It was a big challenge for the team. They were up against very powerful and influential people, but with their hearts in the right place, the team chose to risk everything to save the hospital, which would help thousands of people in the eastern region.
