  • There is an ongoing controversy related to School Uniforms where some Muslim girl students of Udipi, Karnataka have been banned from wearing Hijabs in Schools. It resulted in many protests and counter-protests, where different people came with their own uniforms saying that it's their right to wear Saffron, or whatever they like. It has now taken the form of nationwide religious controversy. But what is the exact matter? Should we even care about Religion in Schools? Is this Secularism? What action did the government take? I talk about these things in this video and explain the entire Hijab Controversy.

When is wearing a hijab became a choice? It was always a mandatory thing for Islam. And If you really want to preach its a choice, then first try wearing sarees or churidhars, and if no one scolds you or attacks you then you wearing hijab is indeed a choice.

@@daviddashi3422 wearing a hijab has become a choice over the period of time. I have a muslim friend and she doesn't wear hijab on a regular basis. In many islamic nations also, hijab is not compulsory.

@@hillaignorous Your friend is extremely privileged to be in a family that doesn't attack her on such things. But reality is way too different. I am from Kerala and rich muslims here like any other rich people are able to ignore social pressures and religious rules of wearing such attires. But for middle and lower class its a nightmare. Those girls don't even have the capacity to think about not wearing a hijab. So for them it feels like a choice when in reality its not. And climate wise its a very unwise choice just like coat and tie. Blind adaptation of dress without knowing why they are used for is what's wrong with us.

I am a Muslim girl . My parents never forced me to put on a hijab and I myself didn't wear a hijab until last year. It was my own choice and some of my family members didn't like it and some supported me so it's that everyone has their opinion but it's important what Islam says. If a girl doesn't wear hijab it's between her and God we should not judge her .

      Narrated `Aisha:
The wives of the Prophet (ﷺ) used to go to Al-Manasi, a vast open place (near Baqi` at Medina) to answer the call of nature at night. `Umar used to say to the Prophet (ﷺ) "Let your wives be veiled," but Allah's Apostle did not do so. One night Sauda bint Zam`a the wife of the Prophet (ﷺ) went out at `Isha' time and she was a tall lady. `Umar addressed her and said, "I have recognized you, O Sauda." He said so, as he desired eagerly that the verses of Al-Hijab (the observing of veils by the Muslim women) may be revealed. So Allah revealed the verses of "Al-Hijab" (A complete body cover excluding the eyes).

I am a muslim women. Lets say here in my college wearing hijab is banned as a consequence for drawing the line. I would not go to that college anymore on my own. Its not my parents descision. Never!!! I would think of any other way as i am not comfortable being outside with my hairs being shown. Now lets say its removed for other religions perspective. Not Wearing anysort of tika or dhaga or neclace with signs might make you feel uncomfortable but not to that point that you yourself give up going outside anymore!!! Hijab is a part of dress. The way you cover your body, we cover our hair. There are lot of people who cant wear short dress reveling their body much. Now if you force them to wear short dresses as a part of some 'secularism rule' which might someday exist, will that be okay?? The people who never reveal their body much, will they be fine anymore going to places where they cant wear long dresses!!! Now coming to the point about hijab being a thing where many parents Force them. True! I agree! Even my Allah wont forgive them for forcing that to anyone! Idk why they want that badly to their children wear hijab forcedly whrere if you force someone something, my Allah himself will punish you for that! So i think they are not doing any religion act but just making their children do something that they just prefers to do. Hence, I dont see these as a religion problem. I see it a parenting problem where similar problems like that exist everywhere in the world. Parents force their children to choose jobs, to marry etc . These are abusing. But you dont find people fighting the rights for their child for choosing jobs neither you ban children to marry. Because afterall these marriage might be forced right!!! Its funny how we all clearly can see that no one has got much problem with women who put sindur or people who wear cross in their neck. But we all need rules on hijab which you could just consider a dress. I mean you dont find people banning pants which we use to cover our lower body right!! Or dont tell me you dont consider hair and face a part of body!!!

So they cover their head or face. It's not just a religious thing but also a dress!! Now tell me if someone cannot wear short skirt but the school strictly rules that one must wear skirts and their legs should be shown. Cuz after all stopping someone from wearing hijab means your hair should be shown after all right? Will that be okay for people who is uncomfortable to show their legs to wear skirt so that no 'so called ' problem should arise in school. A school should teach their students to respect others comfortableness. I have a Hindu feeling wearing dhaga in her hand . I never had any problem with her. No one can force any one to wear hijab nor anyone can force anyone to not wear it either!! And here you said that if in school hijab is banned then parents won't allow their child to study. What about the children who willingly wears hijab? Do you think they will be comfortable to go to school coming out of their comfortable zone? Will their mental health be okay? Hijab is not just part of religion like any sign on necklace or any sort of accessories. It's a dress code too. Stopping someone to stop wearing hijab as part of religion is wrong!!! There many people who doesn't feel comfortable wearing short dress! Will you force them to stop wearing long dressed any show their legs instead for any sort of secularism? Cuz if hijab removed , your hairs are revealed and if long dress removed , your legs are revealed!! And trust me both hairs and legs are body parts!! And it applies to other things like wearing sleeve less dress, covering neck, belly etc.

I am a Muslim woman born in a liberal Muslim family where hijab and religion were never a priority. My parents never ever said anything about wearing the hijab .
But as I grew older I started to question about the purpose of life and since Islam was the religion that was the most accessible to me , I started to look into it and found my answers…
It’s different for different people ..some find peace and solace in meditation, some in their religion and so on… Wearing the hijab was entirely my decision..it brought me peace and taught me to not feel insecure about my looks because a woman has so much to offer than her physical appearance.
I agree that many Muslim parents force their daughters to wear the hijab but not all.

I can not believe i am listening to a Hindu. A peaceful and a moderate Hindu. It is indeed grooming - how one is brought up by its parents. This man speaks with facts with immense eloquence.

As a sikh i think everyone should be given the right snd opportunity to follow their tradition and faith.... For example if sikhs were not allowed to wear turbans in india for any reason there could be given by the government.... It could turn into a chaos.....sikh community would be looking at them as dictators.....same rule is applied on hijaab... It's the tradition it is believed to be sacred so why shouldn't they follow their tradition.... For hindus... Let's say they weren't allowed to wear bhagwa....that would obviously be wrong... Traditions always have a sacred and deep reason behind them in my opinion

    • @shubhangipant653

Absolutely right sir. And kisi ke turban pehen ne, hijab odhne, hath me sacred thread, ya kuch bhi aisa pehenne se there is not any threat or harm to any other person in any way, so people are no one to stop any one from practising their religious believes. Even, we should realise that how beautiful all our cultures are!

You are right sir, but now these beliefs go against the idea of uniforms in school. Which has its own meaning, uniform is meant to make people feel equal irrespective of religion, cast, race, economic background etc. I strongly feel asking for equality in educational institutions is more secular and important move than advocating for religious rules which is communal in my opinion.

No one Is Forcing Women To Wear Hijab
Its a Choice, ask any muslim girl do are they forced they have chosen to Wear By Themselves And they are happy being Muslim and they're proud of it
No one has right to speak and interfere in other's lifes
Follow your own Religion or leave it it's your's Choose
But who the hell give you right to speak about other people's religion
First you see your own Religion matters
    Leave others religion
Live peacefully and let others live peacefully.

I never celebrate Eid. Because there was no celebration of Eid in my school. Eid festival was so inclusive they themselves not allowed to celebrate it. Rest of the other were celebrated because all of them were exclusive. No restriction of which religion you are. Wether you except it or not but muslims and their religion is so inclusive and hate filled for others , even to th nation sovereignty and social order.
      It's bitter truth.
