- Fifteen-year-old Amarianna Ramon has been in love with sloths since she was in the 4th grade. However, Ramon's recent interaction with a sloth at a Michigan pet store may have changed her mind. When she tried to take a picture with the creature, Ramon was bitten by the sloth. Now, the teen warns "sloths can be cute and cuddly, but they do not like to be touched." The owner of the pet store says the teen got too close to the sloth, which he says mistook her arm for an apple.

It's great we're able to provide sustenance and medical care for them. But, true. If they could talk, they would tell us they don't appreciate being locked up.

There is quite a lot missing here. According to the pet store, she was asked to leave early because she continued to interact with Sid inappropriately after being asked to stop how she was touching him. She didn't alert them until after they left that she was bitten. There was blood, but it wasn't like a crime scene. ( there is a picture of it on Facebook)

I know I love wolves but I don’t keep them as pets I went in with them at the wolf and wildlife reuse and got to pet them same with foxes there but I wouldn’t keep them as pets they belonged in the wolf and some people can see that

One thing I noticed with people like you is you don’t blame the adults but only the children
When I was in elementary school I volunteered at this wildlife rescue center and they'd go to different events in the area teaching kids about animals and any time someone asked does it bite we'd have to say it has a mouth and teeth so it can and we recommend keeping hands away from the mouth and face for certain animals like the python but a chinchilla was a little more used to being handled by people.
Our local pet store has signs saying “if it has a mouth it can bite”

The Disneyfication of animals, both wild & domesticated, has given carte blanche to some humans, to pet, hold, fondle animals, they know little about.
Hence biting, clawing etc.
Even dogs & cats etc should be treated with care & respect, when meeting for the first time.
My blood runs cold, when I see folk, pushing their faces, into an animal's face.

I held a sloth in Honduras and it wasn't the bite, it was the claws that they like to dig into you. The guide had to take it off me very quickly
