Thanks for reviewing base models. Almost no one does it which is a shame since it allows for dollar-for-dollar comparison across the range and across the category. Cheers! 🍻
Had this for a weekend, the back seats were spacious, the petrol engine felt very underpowered and kept over reving, hardly any torque at the low range. Front was okay, alot of plastic and seats sat quite low. Felt too much of a car like drive rather than a Proper suv.
Thanks Nedahl, good review. This appears to be a great car that ticks all the boxes. So impressed that it includes a full-size spare. Can you tell me if the Apple Car Play is cordless? That's my only question, otherwise wonderful review.
I just compared it to the Tucson. If you don't need 7 seats, the Tucson is basically the same car but $10k cheaper and more fuel-efficient, with more space in the back row. The only downside is a slightly smaller cargo capacity.
@@normgilbertson3975 check out the Carsguide review on the 2021 Tucson, the second row is even more spacious than the Santa Fe which is meant to be the next size up. Putting in the third row must have eaten into the second-row legroom.
I bought the petrol version. Saved $4000. Hardly anyone needs AWD. The diesel was gutless especially at highway speeds. Petrol has so much power, just screams along.
The diesel is in no way “gutless” at all, I just think you may be unaccustomed to how a dual clutch transmission works. It doesn’t have that instant engagement like the V6’s more traditional torque converter setup.
So why the hell did you bother coming here and commenting if it doesn’t even suit your lifestyle? You’re comparing two completely separate classes of vehicle.
Glad I bought one of the diesels. Hearing really bad stories about class actions and total engine failures plaguing the petrol models. Hyundai had better make it right with all those that bought vehicles with the 3.5 or the 1.6T hybrid engines.
Don’t know that I’d agree with that. I wouldn’t call the Santa Fe “bare bones” by any means, especially the Highlander. I personally don’t find Palisades to be particularly pleasing to look at either.
Lol I don’t see how you figure that. The hybrid is tragically underpowered for the size of the vehicle and is incredibly low in torque. The diesel gives you great power and torque whilst still providing pretty excellent fuel economy.

Great review Nedahl.
Everything covered in a concise way, but with enough info.
No useless waffle.
Beautiful location of the review.
👍👍
Like anything from the Hyundai Motor Group. And this particular, this Base Model Santa Fe will suit most families to a tee. thanks for your video.
Now I want a Sorento-StaFe-CX8 comparison
Will you also review the top-spec model?
Another Rock Solid review

@@craigthacker no way the Tucson has more room in the 2nd row. The 2022 Tucson will have more cargo space than the SF though.

Parents of your kid’s friends be watching this all awkward at the end 😂
So you saying putting other peoples kids at risk is fine?
Nice shopping basket for the kids drop off, won’t pull my 3T caravan so will stick with my Ford Ranger better option.

Omg 2:16 - 3,168 unread emails. Can't deal. Lols
2021 ????
I think sales of the Santa Fe will slowly dwindle away as the new Palisade now makes the Santa Fe look really bare bones...

Are these part of a recall for catching fire?
It’s only the Tucson that’s on the recall list for catching fire. Please subscribe to my TH-cam channel please. From Jordan’s car reviews.
How could you walk into a dealer and ask for the ' base model '? That would take courage.
not really? it's pretty normal, I'm sure lots of people do it all the time. So many cars I see on the road ARE the base model of its lineup.
@@bennyboost I was using sarcasm but it failed miserably.
It's best if you don't have the money for better................
Diesel is a pointless fuel in the age of hybrids and electric cars. Go the hybrid highlander instead
