    That’s a unique and distinctive looking car. The interior looks pretty nice, too. With the new long wheelbase Tucson coming out within the next few months, this new Santa Fe is more suited to people looking for a more roomy and comfortable compact/sub-midsize CUV. BTW, anybody know where this video was filmed? Hardly any traffic and very nice.

    Nice review,
    One small niggle you sometimes talk about an interior item but the camera cuts away to something else in the cabin,
    ie rear flip down arm rest and not so bad window blinds.
    Anyway always love your non biased reviews...
    Thanks

    I test drove this Santa Fe today and its very plush with a vast array of features (i.e., well provisioned could spend days working it all out) much better than the RAV 4 Cruiser. The front seats are both electric very comfortable with two pre-set driver position buttons near the top of the driver door.. In particular, the rear seats were the most comfortable I have ever experienced and sit up very well for vision. I almost immediately got used to the push button (DRNP) auto gearbox - worked great. I never drove a diesel turbo before that is so quiet and nor the usual truck like diesel noise (sounded very much like a normal petrol engine). The turbo has a short lag (like most turbo's) but fly's when it kicks in, when you take your foot off the accelerator it tends to want to keep flying for a brief second. The turbo is not that powerful going up a steep hill with an accelerated burst but its more than enough. Very quiet car. Great seating position for viewing traffic. Drove past a current Nissan X-Trail which seemed small by comparison. You feel like king of the road driving this beauty. The electric rear tail door works brilliantly - so much smoother, quicker and quieter than the RAV4. Absolutely loved the very clear heads up display on the lower part of the windscreen - it tells speed, direction (NSEW), the digits are white when under speed limit and go orange when over (without a noisy voice saying you exceeding speed limit like the RAV4). The unit also warns when aproacing a red light camera (must have a great satnav unit - very accurate).
    Loved the digital speedo/taco which can change colours and as your parking or putting on indicators it shows the gutters and any blind spot cars
    The things that I could knock are:
    *Although 20" wheels, it feels small road bumps a bit, although the large wheels handle small holes in the road great (crushes them)
    * The rear turn indicators sit low near the bumper bar - should have remained high near stop lights
    * The extra feature round large dial just under the automatic gearbox push buttons (on the console) is a bit weak/plasticy - should have been made more solid (it flexes a tiny bit)

    Its a brilliant drive & a fantastic vehicle. The diesel is undoubtedly the pick of the range. This update will now last until late 2024 when a refresh should be due. Hybrid/PHEV will eventually be seen locally as well. Pass on the Euros & put your backside into better value Korean made vehicles.

    I think Ed Sheeran has a point 😁But seriously, I really like this car and it's a month since I bought one. I know, it's a little bit old in 2023 and a new Santa Fe is coming next year. But in my opinion with this Santa Fe, especially with this top Highlander specification, you have more of a car than any other brand can offer. And also IMHO, Hyundai/KIA brands show much more progress than others

    I don't like the front, it looks like a whale shark. The new Kia Sorento is a better looking vehicle in my opinion. Hey Tom, how about doing a road test with this new Santa Fe against the new Sorento with exactly the same powertrains and trim levels so we can see which is the better option.

    At 2:25 you'll see an ugly and very noticeable blanked off bit of plastic on an otherwise very stylish center console. That's the option to switch ON/OFF the auto start feature in other markets. Can't understand why Hyundai Australia would opt out for this feature and especially at this price point!. Hyundai need to learn from KIA that the Sorento (direct competitor) has all features as in other markets. A definite deal breaker for me and no, I'm not OCD!

    Just saw the Palisade review from John Cadogan. Seems like external dimension wise, the Palisade design is just a tad longer than the Santa Fe but costs on average 11k more (base trim to base trim). Think Palisade is very North American boxy design like those FBI/CIA vehicles (Suburban, Yukon, Tahoe) which some people may like

    • @kulaak-krii
      @kulaak-krii 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the Palisade gives you a LOT more interior space as well as the option of captains chairs in the back with walk through to third row. Perfect! John prefers the Kia Carnival but it's so uncomfortable to drive. Palisade is way more car like.
