    I’ve never been able to use a mouth call. I watch this video and went bought the mint master tone. I definitely need to work on it but I can make a few sounds, more than I’ve been able to in the past. Thanks for the video and great products. I can’t wait to use this next year chasing elk with my recurve.

    Something that I have had a hard time finding answers to is about diaphragm longjevity. I practice a lot while driving for work, and seem to go through a lot of diaphragms. How long would a typical diaphragm last during two weeks of lots of bugling.?

    • @RockyMountainHuntingCalls
      @RockyMountainHuntingCalls  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It really depends on the individual. Some find that diaphragms have a shorter life span, and that is more common with those who blow harder than others. Others have reported their diaphragms lasting for months, even years. I personally have diaphragms I've used over several seasons, but proper care and using tongue pressure rather than air pressure are keys to the longevity of a diaphragm. I've also blown several out within a week by not regulating air pressure or taking proper care of them.

    Best way to care for diaphragm call is to rinse in water after use. can use tap water at home or running water in the mountains. just rinse, shake off the excess water and let dry away from sunlight or heat. when finished for the season best to rinse, dry and place in cool, dark place like refrigerator. we have a call case pouch that works good for this.

    Where exactly on the roof of your mouth do you place the diaphragm call? On the soft palate part in the back? Or on the hard palate part that is probably the foreword-most 1/3rd of your mouth roof? I watched other vids and they say the round part has to "seal" against the roof of your mouth. How the heck do you get them to do that? Just got this mouth call howler pack which also has that raised dome one in it. Which sounds like you design it apparently. I'm wondering if I don't need the "Large" size you refer to in this vid? I can NOT get these things to stay up on the roof on my mouth AT ALL. Is your tongue supposed to be holding it against the roof of your mouth the whole time or something?

    • @kurthoward812
      @kurthoward812 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it does fit on the front part of your mouth with the raised dome facing upward. You will have to use you tongue to help hold it in place. If you are trying to make the sounds of a coyote howling will need to engage the latex with your tongue while you huff air past it by making the sound of Hut Hut Hut

    • @GaryHart69
      @GaryHart69 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ugh... ok... sure hope I stumble onto "the trick" here pretty soon. This thing makes you feel foolish real quick. Thanks.

      Maybe watch the TH-cam video called " Yote Howler System with VETT Technology " see if listening to that helps you.

    • @GaryHart69
      @GaryHart69 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not long after watch your vid and that other one... I finally got it. Man... that's a workout for your tongue having to hold the thing up against the roof of your mouth the whole time its in there! Previous experience playing Clarinet as a kid proved helpful once I figured out initial placement. Can almost make it sound like a Saxophone instrument.

    • @kurthoward812
      @kurthoward812 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dan We have found that if the call fits the roof of your mouth correctly your teeth really play no part in it. You need to experiment with the width of the calls to determine which size fits you best. We offer them in large, medium and small to hopefully insure that one of those 3 will fit your mouth.

  • @ernieslater4850
    @ernieslater4850 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    But not one of the calls is labelled small, med or large. Buying is a guessing game.

      Mindy, it sounds like you are putting to much pressure against the diaphragm,. Try to roll your tongue up against the diaphragm and start with not much pressure, you can adjust the pressure by opening and closing your mouth, Good Luck.
