@@DukeSloth I like bringing an upgraded shell as support immediately when there is a Loki or Thana. It perfectly disables their auto attack cancel combo with proper timing.
Ima just copy and paste/ edit a reply I made so it's easier to see for all. The tutorial needs to be revamped. The reason Med is still being picked up by new players is because the tutorial tells then to. If the tutorial told and taught players how to use things like beads and aegis, new players would buy those relics. Baby step players through it, single player game style. - This is Poseidon - his ult is a big aoe that does high damage - Aegis Relic is a great way to avoid this ability - try using Aegis to block the Poseidon ult now! 0/3 times (have them practice it mutliple times) Would you like to keep practicing Y/N? Do the the same thing for Beads with Ares ultimate too. The massive and continuous influx of new players means the tutorial NEEDS to be revamped for them
@@LetMeOmenYou depends on your team and enemy team comp and respective builds (not like majority of Assault players have enough functional brain cells to counterbuild), but most of the time your teammates are stupid enough to not have self or partywide sustain.
@@LetMeOmenYou if you're not the warrior or guardian in assault you need that Beads, Blink or Aegis. Since now there's the orb I don't see why picking med would still be relevant. If you play aggressive which is the way you want to play assault you most likely gonna have the orb for your team if you're fast enough
Let's see, before I watch the vid, let me guess some stuff. It heals a flat value, scaling with level. Which means that it is basically some Light!Hel 3 in terms of healing. Anti-heal is almost everywhere - in fact, the new update adds even more anti-heal. The cooldown is on a similar layer like other relics, which sometimes are more useful. The upgrade is a joke - reduced mana costs? When you upgrade your relics, you are usually late enough in the game that most people do not have great mana issues anymore. The MP healed can be compensated by buying 2 mana pots in most cases. It is just outclassed by most relics which are more useful.
The entire tutorial needs to be revamped, Med Cloak is virtually useless as a squishy, apart from playing Assault or playing Chang'e in solo lane, but even then, that's more of a trolly/fun challenge
When I first started playing Smite, I used to buy Sunder all the time because it had flat dmg. I don't know how many bots I killed with Sunder lol (Thank God I'm a part of the Blink Church now)
Amen to that. I'll take an ice cold Blink over the other relics in most situations. (Purification's an exception, and God forbid me ever choosing Aegis.)
No. Not even then is it good. Don't buy meditation. Unless u don't need an active slot. The only thing worst was sunder and sunder got a buff. Now med is the worst.
@@blueeyeswhitekarin3267 he probably thought you were the carry instead of the support as it wasn't obvious. But yeah med would be a good call, maybe even shell but you carry should have beads/aegis instead of med
I never pick up med for the heal. I pick it probably like a quarter of the time as supp. and I feel like the sustain is enough to keep Duo in lane longer (more farm) and the mana means when you're pushing a lane late game after a teamfight if gives you that boost to capitalize. Basically Meditation is like a second wind ability for me not an "oh shit" button
It's actually incredible underrated for certain team comps and certain supports. I buy it when I want to snowball a lane/game by spamming abilities or being able to pressure camps without needing to worry about mana. Khepri is a great example because you want to be looking for roots so want to spam your cooldowns but med is also great in case you need to rez but don't have mana or to boost a teammate you've just resurrected. Late game double med is incredibly useful for snowballing ranked games.
I'm tired so I don't know if this was mentioned, but meditation also falls off pretty heavily as the game continues while shell doesn't, so often times if you want to get Med you're better off getting shell instead.
@@Not_Qwake I think it's collateral damage in a sense that relics like meditation and bracer become useless under the effects of anti heal.. not being affected by anti heal maybe too strong but I think some mitigating factor would be interesting and hopefully spice up peoples relic selections.. maybe we will see squishes experiment with relics like bracer more I think this same reduction could be tested on items like Mail of Renewal aswell
@Nick Hannah I think it's always good implementing variety among playstyles and choices.. if they don't intent for these relics to be used they shouldnt be in the game.. I dont like when games set traps for newer players giving them options to things that are objectively worse than others
I think you forgot a very important element on that of executes, more often than not, meditation can bring allies above the execution threshold therefore saving them from executes aka, thanatos aou kuang and achillies

It's a relic from the older game for sure. It has few good uses, arguably none. It is a sustain item, which is massively overshadowed by a now much different game design. A better thing to discuss would be the "one trick, beads and agis" issue and how it shows there some underlying issues in smite overall.
Arguably the biggest offender of smite is incredibly overstacked abilities where near everyone has Cc immunity and cc stacking's diminishing return is stupid. All hate for Riot Games but at least they figured this out early.
@@IDirtyMangoI I play on console, and I've played since season 2, when actives were a thing . They worked the same as relics do now, just with more variety due to how many more interesting effects there were, why would they cause button mapping issues?
Another outlier is being chased by a thanatos having low HP. Meditation will take you out of execution threshold and your companions help you kill him before he has a chance to finish you, although its pretty difficulty to get the timing.
This can be said about sanctuary and beads as well though, they enable an aggressive play style that puts the player into a mind set that they don’t have to avoid ultimates or can just avoid the failings of their gameplay
As a support in 3v3 i build medi shell simply because my teammates tend to take unnecessary risks. But i actually liked this video. Have you considered making a series as sort of a beginners guide into smite? Also: will you be making a video about punkducks departure of the smite community and smite in general?
@@Elogical this is exactly it. I have seen remarkable early game success for myself and my team as a support by building medi early. As a support its not as important for me to run beads early.
long time vulcan main and been playing since early beta i do understand why people dont choose meditation, but as vulcan specifically: i used it for the extra sustain and and enemy harassment early game which generally has a nice effect on the rest of the game. i play my cards right and stretch out my mana and for the most part, i create more relief for my allies when they need to back or wanna jungle (in joust). this playstyle also runs the enemies ragged as i often see them out of mana and not willing to leave becuse im still pushing. you are absolutely right about it's cons and i would not even recommend this on vulcan unless you are equally well trained and adjusted. his turret, backburner and "meetball" make for a great stall and harrassment, as well as a few (minor) escape methods and very good clear. pluss with the ultt if you get them low enough, chase is easier then most gods, as long as you know how to hit it right (lot of mindgames there) so if you dont let yourself over-spam your abilities, and know your god well with vulcan, meditation makes sense. but i want to be absolutely clear. THIS IS AN OUTLIER THAT ALSO REQUIRES PRIOR KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL OF THE GOD AND MANA MANAGEMENT WITHOUT MEDI TO BE WORTH IT. THIS IS NOT A "USE IT ON ANY VULCAN" SITUATION.
@@xc809 thats what im saying, espically in joust when you got 2 aggress players but yall both have to hold back cause that one guy playing it way too damn safe. Adjusting to your team is part of the game tho I guess. Lol it always be the main damage dealer too XD
@@WesternXC I get both, I could start off with shell and then gradually find out if the team is over all aggressive or not, but meds sucks mid to late game.
They should change it, make it an out of combat sustain item or something. Maybe you have to stand still for five seconds but recover 30% of your max health and mana or something along those lines
Picking up meditation in conquest (in any role) is like going to a basketball 🏀 court with a football 🏈 you can't dribble, missing free throws and wondering why ppl are upset, don't want to play with you or laugh at you.
1) affected by antiheal 2) mana sustain is better through other items 3) hp sustain is better through other tems 4) beads aegis better for squishes to survive 5) shell does as good a job for a team and the block stacks are more impactful late game 6) meditation upgrade has too small an impact on a fight
1 you wont be antihealed 100% of the game, its best used in between fights to give your team a second wind 2 not every character will be able to use those items, usually solo and supports, who both typically suffer with mana problems 3 while it is better, having an additional heal never hurts 4 you arent buying med on those squishies, med is bought on the tankier team members in order to help the squishies survive without using their own relics 5 shell is better, but can easily be waited out, or after the mid season patch, be mostly ankh’ed away and remove almost all your squishies sustain, making them super vulnerable 6 its not as small as you would think, most mages will be able to get off a full extra rotation of abilities in a team fight thanks to that extra second off of abilities, especially with chronos. And certain gods go absolutely nuts with that bonus, like discordia who can pump out 3-4 rotations of her 1 and 2 in a teamfight with the help of med, and any mage with abilities with less than 3 second cooldowns with cdr (he bo, vulcan, chand’e) can seriously shred with that passive
@@pyromaniac000000 1) waiting 8s on brawlers/divine to use med will get you killed or your teammate who needs the med killed. Plus to wait till after the fight for 8s to use it means you are down a relic for the fight in the first place. 2) if you suffer mana issues like this then A) buy mp5 items, there are some good ones especially for solo or B) stop spamming your kit. Med is a crutch to poor mana usage 3) see 1 and 5 4) this video literally mentions how new players are taught IN THE TUTORIAL ON NEITH to buy med. So while you shouldn't be buying med on them, which you agree with, this point is expanding on why specifically they shouldn't be 5) ankh will also affect med so yes shields have been hit with a nerf bat it's far less than the amount of antiheal in the game. 6) no you're right, yes I did forget about the 1s cooldown on use so that's on me however I'll defer to the point that if you're dead you can't get the kit off. 315 hp which is affected by antiheal will come out less to less more often than not to shells 340. Yes both do get reduced by Ankh but ankh has to come out after shell where more often than not you want upgraded ankh for the 10% additional damage. Yes, shell only lasts for 3s but how are you going to "wait that out"?
The big thing as to why Shell is such a strong relic late game is that those block stacks make up a huge part of the top up to keep going. even if the shield is blown off right away, 2 block stacks on a guardian means they have a little more time to move in on the adcs, 2 block stacks on the carries means that should they find themselves taking enemy hunter basics, you can easily block over 600 damage in those 2 autos which is near double what Med will do for you without there being ANY antiheal
@@pyromaniac000000 1) any mid and support will get their anti heal (65%), assasin jungler and solo warrior often take (40%) which mean useless in teamfight. outside teamfight anyone has a way to gain life back (heal, lifesteal, sustain, hp5). 2) if people lack mana, they need to see their gameplay to manage their mana, potion is OP early game 3) additionnal heal never hurt, but sacrifing a relic spot hurt a lot. unlike item slot, relic can't be sell it back for another once you leave the fountain 4) shell and horrific emblem do better work for the team to survive. 5) shell in a teamfight isnt always easy to "waited out", anhk is a veyr situationnal item and is a wasted slot, unlike anti heal item which are decent enough even without anti heal effect 6) that is very situationnal, most cd are at 10-15 cd and teamfight can be over in 5 sec.
It's funny if u look to meditation cloak like Heal (League Of Legends), there is a staple in the bot lane who is usually used by the adc, when in Smite it's by the support in the duo lane
I feel MED is a very..VERY niche relic. It's mandatory in assault but sometimes when you see a thanatos or ao kaung,I feel the priorities shift from shell to med but only for those specific reasons. Good video duke.
If you've used up your mana as adc in duo, it's either early game so you should back and buy, or it's late game and you're real bad at mana conservation.
I see I should've added something else so people could understand my sarcasm. In that case, I DO NOT BACK. BACKING COSTS ME XP AND GOLD. I DO NOT LEAVE DUO LANE FOR anything. LEAVING DUO LANE GETS ME BEHIND. IF I DIE I RAGEQUIT BECAUSE NOW I'M BEHIND ON XP AND GOLD.
Med is also good in Joust if you're running a double tank snowball comp. Beginners should not attempt that, however, as it's really technical to pull off and requires really efficient teamwork.
Hey dukesloth can you do a video on which moves have priorities. Like herc push versus anhur impale and similar things bc I never know which moves will beat out which ones
When my friends tried to get me into smite it was very very bumpy. I always just brought med and aegis thinking I'd be safe and it took a while before I finally looked at puri and said yeah this might be useful
When I play Freya or other gods with ult that have cc clear I don’t usually get beads because their ultimate can clear cc. I only ever get beads when having an Anubis and other hard cc gods are together
Relic unlike item, you can’t change once you buy and leave the base. Med is fine as long as anti heal isn’t build so good in early game and against low lvl player who never build anti heal. Med can definitely save people in early but the same can be said for aegis, bead. Blink can also be the main reason why you get a kill and can even save you if you juke well. Med is just easier to use
@@bienhy5120 yea, usually the kills that are saved are early game so we domt have antiheal or the damage to kill them through the med, i agree its garbage but its real annoying when it actually works lol
I normally get meditation as a support when I'm playing with an ability based hunter. Lets me keep both of us up and alive for longer in certain dire situations.
A weird idea: meditation gains an additional effect. Prior to the heal being applied, meditation cleanses all antiheal currently applied. This would make med a counter to ankh similarly to how sprint counters horrific emblem
It gets overshadowed heavily by Shell for team defense, and meditation only has niche uses for offensive uses, and it gets countered by anti heal which is a giant knock to the relic. If meditation wasn’t affected by anti heal i think it would be much much more usable in conquest, but it would be absolutely broken in modes like joust and assault
When I started playing Smite in about Season 2-3 I always used beads and Aegis/Sanctuary. I did use med as well since I believe it was stronger. I find myself using med more often now as I'm doing more group oriented pushes and that usually involves restoring mana to my main dmg dealer.
You forgot about executes. While not always the case, med can heal an ally above their threshold, thereby potentially saving then in instances where shell cannot. Good video though, Duke.
Honestly med cloak isn't bad on mana hungry gods, especially early game or if there's an execute on the enemy team. I usually get beads and aegis if I'm not support. If I'm support I get med or shell first and emblem or beads second.
I'm surprised you didn't mention one of my top reasons for buying Meditation. That is, countering an enemy with an execute who has the chance to execute one of my allies. Meditation is good for a quick health boost on someone nearby that you otherwise might not be able to save. They still might die, but it's not going to be instant or free.
Literally and saying meditation cloak is shit is saying you just want to be beefy and never a healer lol. Like, if you have lifesteal and combo it with meditation cloak you'll find yourself saving more ass than not. Im just going to make a video to replace this one lol
If you have communication with your team, the person who needs the heal can just let you know when the anti heal is over and can tell you when to use it. Granted in team fights it might still be hard but if the carries are properly positioned, getting hit with a hard anti heal like brawlers or Devine it pretty hard. Soft anti heal like auras do anti heal as much as Devine or brawlers so you can still med.
The thing is with using med against an execute is that Thanatos and Ao can easily follow up if their execute fails. Achilles is the only one I think it might be helpful with and even then, he will prob have at least 1 anti-heal item by the teamfight phase if your team has any notable healing.
Wait with he-bo can you get staff of myrdin with an upgraded med and spam all your abilities 3 times? Because that's actually broken lmao never thought of that
I’m new to the game and mainly play jungle I often use med bc it heals damage from camps and can heal my teammates so They can help me relieve pressure their lane is there any other option ppl could recommend to help teammates in a tough spot?
Lol meditation in jungle and conquest in general is like bringing a football 🏈 to a basketball 🏀 court, missing free throws, and wondering why ppl don't want to play with you or laugh at you. Like Duke implied: up your game.
I hope they remove blink as jinglers rely on it way to much, and it just gets annoying when you don't have a ward on that one wall some guy decides to sit behind for a minute straight
I’m a diamond 5 in smite on conquest so I think my opinion on med can maybe help some people out. In the support role meditation can be a good first relic pickup if these situations are stacked in your game 1. Your adc and jungle is a high mana using god 2. There is no anti heal in the opponents kit those early game high mana using gods will typically be ullr, kali, xbal, BUT late game once the opponent has built anti heal read into the upgrade once you enter a team fight as being the support keep an eye for when your team has freshly used there abilities you can make you late game med semi useful but on certain supports med will not be the first relic you would want to pickup and I’d say NEVER get it as 2nd relic bc you won’t be able to get that early game value. These certain supports would be artio geb ymir yemoja ares Cerberus terra Athena the reason being is they either have area of effect heal or need blink rune way more. As duthsloth was saying though this relic will 85% of the time not be your best choice. Go with a shell, blink, upgraded sprint or even horrific emblem. They have a lot more strength late game
As someone who has always hated Med because of what it does to players. I must mention that another good use for Med is in high tier joust games. A “Med bait” is used when your team all in’s on a team fight and then just Meds up at the end automatically winning the team fight if it was initially equal. This is good setup for getting Red for free and possibly stealing the enemy Exp’s and Blue
Meditation is in fact so bad compared to anything else, in the one mode it is considered "good" (assault) there are more and more situations where you actually shouldn't get it. Because if you're CC'd and 5 people get to hit you, you'll probably just die. And the most common starts get some sustain anyway (lifesteal or hp5/mp5 plus a handful of potions).
@Absolute Zero Yeah but if you're siegeing you should get the orbs already anyway. Don't get me wrong: you DO still get med (esp on frontline, who have a harder time starting with sustain outside of sov). It's just that if beads/aegis are likely to prevent more damage than med would heal (and often they do), it's just better to get those. Plus if you're the squishy to get focused (say Zeus, or the only one of either damage type), meditation probably won't save you while something else could. Besides, you actually don't want to stay alive forever anyway; you'll just get behind in items.
Med is good between fights to help against poke and for mana sustain, (albeit still situational) while being generally worse than shell/aegis/beads during a fight.
I think its kinda based on preference and skill. Its a decent safety net for teams who are either new to the game or learning a god they haven't played before. Assault we all know why to use it. For me I use it in Conquest, both standard and ranked when im support. I prefer to go Hybrid Athena and rely on my CC to support, I usually use Med cloak as a heal item for my carry in case they overextend into the lane, get chased, or attacked by the jungle who rotated, its worked for me so far, and the only time I have trouble in Duo is either if my Carry is playing bad (Most likely an Artemis player) or we just get mass ganked by the enemy jungle and mid since the middle lane let their foe rotate without calling out or coming to help. But all relics could be called "bad" in a sense they all have flaws that keep them from outperforming the others. Like how I wouldn't build med cloak if I was the jungle or mid. You want Beads so that way you can nope out of CC ganks. Or Blink Rune to help with an easy gank rotation as the Jungle. Its all based on the scenerio and enemy picks that should decide what you think you need for a relic. Fighting against 1 pump ult gods? You probably will want Aegis. Hard CC spam? Beads. Rapid Damage taken? Bracer. Healer? Ankh. Need to escape, chase or return quickly? Heavenly Wings. Tired of the enemy running or building "gotta go fast!" Builds with nothing but movement speed? Horrific Emblem. HP Shield spammers like Hera and Odin? Sundering Spear (PTS now, and for everyone on the 14th of July) If any item is bad then I would say teleport glyph. Its virtually useless outside of conquest and a few niche moments like if your an AA assassin and you place a ward near titan and your team baits the enemy away or into a fight. But beyond that teleport glyph is probably the hardest to utilize normally or even late game. As most people also seem to have an issue with not buying wards. Even in ranked its an issue. When I rarely ever get to jungle I always get wards to plop down on either side when the wards go out I replace them where i think the enemy jungler will pass through
The only good things about med... it’s decent early game as support but why would you run it over shell? and the cooldown reduction of 1second on every ability on your team can be decent. I’m a player that blows all my mana and I still don’t run med
I think it needs buffs. In League, Heal is very important for ADC's because it gives a speed boost to kite. SMITE could do this or give it an instant cc cleanse of 0.1 seconds to give a substitute to beads
also on joust when you are going double bruiser/tank normably i see people do 1 med 1 shell since shells dont stack and in moments of panic if your team has double shell 1 tends to get wasted
Genuinely surprised you never mentioned counter-play for executes, like how some solo laners in the SPL were taking it into achilles pre-nerfs last season. Particularly in low level ranked and casual you can bait ao/thana ults but I would rather not see it on any character in my games including chang'e(blink + thorns).
I play with Med frequently as a tank and healer in many games modes. Early game i think its way better than shell, whereas shell is much better late game, more specifically against AA characters. Timing of shell is extremely important due to it's short duration, as well as positioning. Med accomplishes a similar task with far less risk imo, and gives sustain throughout all phases of the game.
I play alot of xing tien. I find that med cloak early and blink late is the best way to play him. The fact the health does not fall off after a few seconds and the mana gain is just way to good for him.
Long time Xing player here. If you're having mana issues, get items that have mana sustain like breastplate of valor and Genji's guard. He already has a ton of health sustain from his passive, so the Med isn't neccessary. This is mainly if you're playing conquest, but if you're playing say, Joust, it isn't too bad of pickup.
I don’t think meditation is awful but you get so much more value from other relics. When so many gods have healing/sustain in their kits, they don’t need meditation as much as they need aegis or puri beads
The only good reasoning i heard is that it messes up how new players play. But if you know how to use it properly its still a good relic for specific characters. Dodging executes, trying to match a healing comp, certain characters need it to stay out and keep pressure in the early game. And its permanent health and mana. Not to mention its an amazing heal and its easy to heal in between fights with it.
As a fairly new player... (Only played for around a month of in game time and mostly against bots til I'm ready for players.) I thought Med Cloak was best used to help fellow teammates who have taken a beating. While in the jungle, if I see a teammate's go 75% or lower, I go to them, help them with bots and then heal them before carrying on. Before anyone asks, I don't have a class I main yet. I just kinda play whatever I'm in the mood for. Characters I gave been using include: Fenrir, Rattaskor, Cerberues, Hot is, Anubis, Danzaborough, and that dragon mage that has two fighting stances. P.s. Is it common for teammates to just run away in arena?
@Shawn Rasmussen No shit but everytime i watch him he misses eaziest abilities :D like 3:46 janus doesnt even see him :DD and just look at some vidios how he aims strange strange
I once had a clash with a Persephone that took med. My friends in discord immediately started saying "gg Persephone gonna feed" and the other random caps locked "WHERE ARE YOUR BEADS!?" in the chat. She got out of base way ahead of us and planted a huge garden around red buff then med herself to get her Mana back. She secured red and got first blood in the initial scramble and got lucky everytime she would have needed beads because I played Horus and kept managing to rescue her. She didn't carry but she went positive. Still wouldn't recommend med.
@@bienhy5120 i've seen it do 0 before on 1 occasion and it hurt my soul lol. I only like blink for ults or to assassinate a mage or hunter. (the 2 second cooldown from dealing or taking damage doesn't make it a good escape Imo.) Sprint is good but I may transition to bracer of undoing. it's more selfish but everyone runs beads and aegis anyways soo
So your game hasn't improved in 4 years? Why even watch smite TH-cam videos if you're not gonna learn or take anything from them. It's not about pros vs casuals it's literally how to play the game better. I bet your teams love you 🙃
@@eldia-bros7665 picking a relic has nothing to do with how to play the game. It's a relic. U just pick it. My overall gameplay and skills for better. Just because I like an (admittedly bad) relic makes me bad? That's crazy. I'm sure you've been save from a few Thanatos and Ao Kuang ults by it too.
Meditation Cloak need a Buff up just simply reduce thee Anti Heal effect in upgraded ones like if the normal Med Cloak will heal but effected by Anti Heal then maybe just buff up like at least make the anti heal effect lower insteas of 100% then when uupgraded it will be effected like 75%
I had a thought earlier on wrathyns olympian tweet, but what if meds upgrade ignored anti heal instead/along with its current upgrade?? I feel like it could be a start at least to not make it suck doo doo in any non assualt mode
Med also has its uses in top tier ranked joust it used to establish some early game pressure or keep up in the early to better your chances at getting the first red buff. Only frontline get it tho
Im glad someone else pointed this out, people need to get their brains off the idea that it’s useless. High pressure teams can get huge amounts of use out of it by constantly popping it on cooldown.
one reason i, as a support buy meditation in ranked joust is if i have an aphro or hel on my team. i know that the heal aspect of med will be countered, but i buy it for the mana it gives my team.
I would say the main reason it's picked up so much is because for new players it's reactive whereas all the better relics are better used predictively. I have 2500+ hours in the game and I still fail to time Aegis and Beads perfectly most of the time.
Also because the tutorial tells new players to get Med. If the tutorial told players to get Aegis and Bead, they would get those relics. Hell, if the tutorial told people to get Sunder, they would get it.
and he stil revuses?! sorry but does he have a brain? you ahould show him some situations where he did and with a other relic he would survive. do it so long until he take a better thing like beeds
tell that to my cousin thats lv127 and uses med for any role he plays in conquest i showed him the game 5 years ago.. and yes i have tried to tell him why he shouldnt build med
As a Joust main I always pick up med no matter what class I play unless there is some real real bad cc on the enemy team but even then. You probably shouldn't be putting yourself in such a situation in the first place? My favorite part is when PC players type (I'm on console) and say "yada yada you are bad for picking med" then they go off and feed relentlessly.
Frankly, if Hi-Rez wanted Medi to become more viable, all they would have to do is make it a % based healing. This would make it viable for tanks who build lots of health, so they get more value out of it than Shell. That's it. That's all you'd have to do to make it more usable. It wouldn't break anything, it'd still be just as powerful early game as the late game, like all the rest of the relics, and it wouldn't be overpowered in any circumstances. Antiheal would still be important, but wouldn't make the relic useless.
I've just finally got out of the med cloak habit. Teleport is a much more useful relic for me because I'm really only good enough to focus on lane control.
I wish I could like this video 1,000,000 times. Thank you for this video even though it was generic and not conquest specific. Meditation in conquest, barring the aforementioned changé in solo (which isnt a great solo pick to begin), is trash. Meditation is basically for noobs who just spam abilities and don't really play situational windows logically or understand the meta. Too bad most meditation users aren't even invested in getting better otherwise they'd TH-cam smite and see that meditation is really never picked up in conquest. Casual and ranked aside it's about competency which lends itself to competition. I have 2 accounts: level 155 and 100 and still get put in casual matches with 6-9 meditation relics. He nailed it when he called it a crutch that only serves to keep your play style from getting better. I've honestly seen meditation picked up in ranked so it's not limited to casual conquest. I don't even agree with meditation in arena but don't care cus it's arena. It's really bad when they actually win games packing medi cus it just reinforces terrible play style. Smite doesn't invest in trying to educate it's players just more skins for $$. I think the level of toxicity would drop if more people just watched a lil youtube before playing such a complex, team oriented game. Being bad is one thing but choosing to be stay bad is another. End rant.
Super facts I'm not new to the game but support is my worst roll I can literally play any roll correctly except for supp they always have to adapt to the playstyle of the adc they get pair with and further adapt to the player that is using the character... peronally I always buy med cause I'm way too aggressive Xd Mad respect to all the supp mains out there honestly the toughest roll in the game.
Does Mediation works with Aphrodite's passive if the 'kissed' god is in the range of med ? I mean, it gives the med mana and tha aphro passive mana?!?!?
The biggest problem I have with med is the upgrade, its actually useless. Back in the day the old upgrade was pretty good it just had the same problem as regular med that being anti heal. When I played assault if I got a character that I'd either want boots first item or chronos I'd buy the upgrade for that extra sustain.
Best buff for med give it an aoe cleanse like Chiron or geb shield just a quick pop of cc be gone so it can be a support option against cc heavy teams while shell stays the option against high burst teams
Better for them to get aegis. As a second « anti execute » relic you go bead against ao kuang, blink against the other 2 but it need practice to juke for 3 second. Med with average anti heal only heal like 100 hp, heal 0 with 3 anti heal item. which are rarely enough to prevent execution
Tadeo Langone most of the time the heal won’t prevent the execution in the lategamestage. Most damage you get as a squishy is like 300+ and as I said in my message earlier. The heal is around 100 hp on average team with anti heal, it heal 0 hp (useless) with 3 anti heal item which is common.
@Absolute Zero i started using it because a lot of times I was retreating with my carry and when we were under the tower or really close Thanatos dropped or aquilles/ao blinked and executed so i use it mostly for that; it is very situational but I hated that it happend a lot of times so I used that (also hate the concept of executes so I love to ruin them)
Outside of Assault, I pick up Med as a support when there is a god with an execute on the enemy team, like Thanatos, which ignores Shell.
still not worth, they can just build anti heal and kill you
Oh snap, forgot to mention that even though I do it for Ao and Thana all the time! Nothing more satisfying than breaking their ult last sec!

The tutorial needs to be revamped. The reason Med is still being picked up by new players is because the tutorial tells then to. If the tutorial told and taught players how to use things like beads and aegis, new players would buy those relics.
Baby step players through it, single player game style.
- This is Poseidon
- his ult is a big aoe that does high damage
- Aegis Relic is a great way to avoid this ability
- try using Aegis to block the Poseidon ult now! 0/3 times (have them practice it mutliple times)
Would you like to keep practicing Y/N?
Do the the same thing for Beads with Ares ultimate too.

The only reason I ever buy med outside of assault is when there’s an enemy god on the opposing team with an execute like Thanatos or Ao Kuang
No. Not even then is it good. Don't buy meditation. Unless u don't need an active slot. The only thing worst was sunder and sunder got a buff. Now med is the worst.
Beads is much better for Ao Kuang.

Another outlier is being chased by a thanatos having low HP. Meditation will take you out of execution threshold and your companions help you kill him before he has a chance to finish you, although its pretty difficulty to get the timing.

@@Elogical this is exactly it. I have seen remarkable early game success for myself and my team as a support by building medi early. As a support its not as important for me to run beads early.
@@Rawas100 That would depend on who you are and who your enemy is. What applies to one game doesnt apply to another.
long time vulcan main and been playing since early beta
i do understand why people dont choose meditation, but as vulcan specifically:
i used it for the extra sustain and and enemy harassment early game which generally has a nice effect on the rest of the game. i play my cards right and stretch out my mana and for the most part, i create more relief for my allies when they need to back or wanna jungle (in joust). this playstyle also runs the enemies ragged as i often see them out of mana and not willing to leave becuse im still pushing.
you are absolutely right about it's cons and i would not even recommend this on vulcan unless you are equally well trained and adjusted. his turret, backburner and "meetball" make for a great stall and harrassment, as well as a few (minor) escape methods and very good clear. pluss with the ultt if you get them low enough, chase is easier then most gods, as long as you know how to hit it right (lot of mindgames there) so if you dont let yourself over-spam your abilities, and know your god well with vulcan, meditation makes sense.
but i want to be absolutely clear. THIS IS AN OUTLIER THAT ALSO REQUIRES PRIOR KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL OF THE GOD AND MANA MANAGEMENT WITHOUT MEDI TO BE WORTH IT. THIS IS NOT A "USE IT ON ANY VULCAN" SITUATION.

1) affected by antiheal
2) mana sustain is better through other items
3) hp sustain is better through other tems
4) beads aegis better for squishes to survive
5) shell does as good a job for a team and the block stacks are more impactful late game
6) meditation upgrade has too small an impact on a fight
1 you wont be antihealed 100% of the game, its best used in between fights to give your team a second wind
2 not every character will be able to use those items, usually solo and supports, who both typically suffer with mana problems
3 while it is better, having an additional heal never hurts
4 you arent buying med on those squishies, med is bought on the tankier team members in order to help the squishies survive without using their own relics
5 shell is better, but can easily be waited out, or after the mid season patch, be mostly ankh’ed away and remove almost all your squishies sustain, making them super vulnerable
6 its not as small as you would think, most mages will be able to get off a full extra rotation of abilities in a team fight thanks to that extra second off of abilities, especially with chronos.
@@pyromaniac000000
1) waiting 8s on brawlers/divine to use med will get you killed or your teammate who needs the med killed. Plus to wait till after the fight for 8s to use it means you are down a relic for the fight in the first place.
2) if you suffer mana issues like this then A) buy mp5 items, there are some good ones especially for solo or B) stop spamming your kit. Med is a crutch to poor mana usage
3) see 1 and 5
4) this video literally mentions how new players are taught IN THE TUTORIAL ON NEITH to buy med. So while you shouldn't be buying med on them, which you agree with, this point is expanding on why specifically they shouldn't be
5) ankh will also affect med so yes shields have been hit with a nerf bat it's far less than the amount of antiheal in the game.
2) if people lack mana, they need to see their gameplay to manage their mana, potion is OP early game
3) additionnal heal never hurt, but sacrifing a relic spot hurt a lot. unlike item slot, relic can't be sell it back for another once you leave the fountain
4) shell and horrific emblem do better work for the team to survive.
5) shell in a teamfight isnt always easy to "waited out", anhk is a veyr situationnal item and is a wasted slot, unlike anti heal item which are decent enough even without anti heal effect
6) that is very situationnal, most cd are at 10-15 cd and teamfight can be over in 5 sec.

When I play Freya or other gods with ult that have cc clear I don’t usually get beads because their ultimate can clear cc. I only ever get beads when having an Anubis and other hard cc gods are together
I still see tanks getting this for the early mana sustain (usually in joust or clash) and believe it or not med has saved at LEAST 50 kills from me
Relic unlike item, you can’t change once you buy and leave the base.
Minority opinion: relics should be immune from item effects, so antiheal shouldnt affect meditation and bracer
When players didn't know you can counter bracer with antiheal (and it wasn't nerfed) it was a rough period.
Curious how much this might have changed with the advent of healing changes, like a cad shield buff now would affect it
Are we going to overlook how poorly you play neith xD Watching it caused me physical pain...
Literally and saying meditation cloak is shit is saying you just want to be beefy and never a healer lol. Like, if you have lifesteal and combo it with meditation cloak you'll find yourself saving more ass than not. Im just going to make a video to replace this one lol
So you're saying he's playing like any ten stars Neith main
@@silverylu7172 excuse me, I have 2* neith and I play her well. She wasn't very meta relevant before the buff, but that's another thing...
Not only is it shit upgraded compared to Shell, it gets countered with antiheal (which is why it's not a good counter to executes).
Because that's actually broken lmao never thought of that
I’m new to the game and mainly play jungle I often use med bc it heals damage from camps and can heal my teammates so

I should also note that most people don’t even do this properly so it’s barely even worth mentioning. But it is a thing
Poppiing med when ur entire team is low or when ur tower diving. Especially as aphro
Lol afro has a heal why even get meditation. I hope you're not talking about conquest. You missed the point of the whole video. Up your game.
Sundering Spear (PTS now, and for everyone on the 14th of July)
If any item is bad then I would say teleport glyph. When I rarely ever get to jungle I always get wards to plop down on either side when the wards go out I replace them where i think the enemy jungler will pass through
Nothing is better when maining support role and see your adc (neith/cupid) pick meditation cloak.
When I go adc my supp gets med. When I go supp my adc gets med. Brutal
When I'm support, and the enemy team has an execute, I build meditation. Other than that, it's blink+shell FTW (typically).
also on joust when you are going double bruiser/tank normably i see people do 1 med 1 shell since shells dont stack and in moments of panic if your team has double shell 1 tends to get wasted
Yes I'm one of those who build meditation and shield as a tank. I do it to help my team survive longer in team fights.
now hirez countered meditation with the antiheal aura, outstanding move
Are u playing with ur smurf or what? u miss eaziest abilities and still enemies play like AI
Duke is known from his wisdom, not from his mechanical skills ;)
This is the worst as it reinforces/validates that lower level play style
Been using meditation for 4 years now. Just love the extra bit of health to escape.
Uh oh
Advanced played used blink or sprint to escape. Against decent anti heal it’s likely to heal less than 110 hp (0 heal is possible)
Meditation Cloak need a Buff up
just simply reduce thee Anti Heal effect in upgraded ones
like if the normal Med Cloak will heal but effected by Anti Heal then maybe just buff up like at least make the anti heal effect lower insteas of 100% then when uupgraded it will be effected like 75%
I had a thought earlier on wrathyns olympian tweet, but what if meds upgrade ignored anti heal instead/along with its current upgrade?? I feel like it could be a start at least to not make it suck doo doo in any non assualt mode
The one match you seem to do well in and you say your aren't serious? What were you doing before?
Med also has its uses in top tier ranked joust it used to establish some early game pressure or keep up in the early to better your chances at getting the first red buff.
Only frontline get it tho
Im glad someone else pointed this out, people need to get their brains off the idea that it’s useless. High pressure teams can get huge amounts of use out of it by constantly popping it on cooldown.
Could you do a video about youre opinion about magis coat? I think its very optional but rarely usefull.
one reason i, as a support buy meditation in ranked joust is if i have an aphro or hel on my team. i know that the heal aspect of med will be countered, but i buy it for the mana it gives my team.
Hey guys. Does the shell shield get protection like the health?
I would say the main reason it's picked up so much is because for new players it's reactive whereas all the better relics are better used predictively. I have 2500+ hours in the game and I still fail to time Aegis and Beads perfectly most of the time.
Also because the tutorial tells new players to get Med. If the tutorial told players to get Aegis and Bead, they would get those relics.
Hell, if the tutorial told people to get Sunder, they would get it.
Better question, why Nerf Blink?
Sending this to my friend that is level 67+ and refuses to build anything other than med for his first relic.
Noob is how you play not your lvl number.
Andrew Cotto Thats fair. I was just giving some perspective as to how long he’s been playing.
and he stil revuses?! sorry but does he have a brain? you ahould show him some situations where he did and with a other relic he would survive. do it so long until he take a better thing like beeds
tell that to my cousin thats lv127 and uses med for any role he plays in conquest i showed him the game 5 years ago.. and yes i have tried to tell him why he shouldnt build med
Ive honestly stopped playing with a friend who insisted on it in support and solo (his only 2 roles)
I think a good buff for meditation would be making it unaffected by anti heal
As a Joust main I always pick up med no matter what class I play unless there is some real real bad cc on the enemy team but even then. You probably shouldn't be putting yourself in such a situation in the first place? My favorite part is when PC players type (I'm on console) and say "yada yada you are bad for picking med" then they go off and feed relentlessly.
Maybe they feed because they realized/experienced people with med doing horribly and costing the game that they don't care from the start
3:33 that janus ult hit you...
Congratulations 🎉🎈💐🎉
End rant.
Super facts I'm not new to the game but support is my worst roll I can literally play any roll correctly except for supp they always have to adapt to the playstyle of the adc they get pair with and further adapt to the player that is using the character... peronally I always buy med cause I'm way too aggressive Xd
Mad respect to all the supp mains out there honestly the toughest roll in the game.
If you can carry confidently then you should be able to support competently. Two sides of the same coin
I get med as a support when the enemy has an execute. It is an amazing feeling to deny that
@Absolute Zero shell
@@bienhy5120 I get med when i go guardian AND there Is a god with an execute just because i can heal my carry AND prevent the execute.
