As a Warrior main. No matter how many times I tell myself that when I play hunter I shouldn't be in the frontline. I. Always. Fucking. Frontline. Kill me
I'm a hunter main and I tend to get ahead uhh a little too often and I don't mean like a level on the enemy adc I mean like 3-4 on everyone so I tend to frontline because I can just kill everything before it can kill me. This obviously causes problems when I'm not that far ahead
+dyndo101 My issue isn't frontlining in and of itself, but that I frontline for people that don't fight at all e.g Thor Ult-doubletapcombo into dual lane. Geb gives me a shield and no knockup and just stands there rather than tanking.Ullr lands his Arrow Hail, but no Axe stun or even basics. I die. You rock!
Thank goodness, something on positioning! It's super important and I've always found it the most troubling thing for players who get themselves killed a lot and myself trying to figure out where to be in a fight. Unless you can push buttons a few magnitudes better than the entire enemy team, going in like a madman rarely gets you anywhere, and it is much better to position yourself with your team.
A nice intro to positioning, but it's so tough to teach except by playing (and to a lesser extent watching) since it's CONSTANTLY different, like you were briefly getting into with the SPL teamfight example. It also depends on whether you're ahead or not, and even then not just on the god YOU are playing, but also what your teammates are playing and what the enemy is playing! Sometimes you can be more aggressive because your teammates can back you up, sometimes you can't because the enemy has an important Ult to counter your character, and sometimes you HAVE to be aggressive because of the enemy comp because their poke is too strong... So many scenarios... But thanks for at least touching on this topic to at least get new people thinking about it in the first place.
I absolutely agree, hence all the disclaimers in the beginning. There's no way to potentially outline everything that can be said about positioning, as so much of it as a matter of "feeling"! Thank a lot! :)
thanks for doing this i have a few players on my team that can really use this i've shared this video. along with some others you have done to help improve there skills I'm looking forward to more like this thanks again.
Hi, I have a question about heart seeker : why is it not use on warrior? The passive proc on so many of them and work so well. On bellona it allow her bludgeon a nice burst, on amaterasu too and it's broken on erlang shen/ Osiris. The 10% movement speed allow nice chase and let them skip FB. Is a build like this viable for conquest, on casual (arena, joust, clash) it's op. Heart Seeker, Warrior Tabi (Stone Cutting sword late game), Def item, Pen item/ CD item, Def Item, Quin. i like ursin for 1st def (health + 65 prot) and then shifter shield if it's safe or Mantle if need be. I was surprised that it's not more used especially after i saw ur hunter build with it. Another question : is Hydra worth it on warrior too? Seems pretty op on bellona; with HS and Hydra i can do a huge burst with bludgeon. As always, i love your content, keep it up, great work. (Sorry for my english, it's not my mother language ;p)
Warriors don't benefit much from power. 10% MS doesn't come close to FB slow. No, not viable, you're delaying crucial items like defense and CDR. The only time I'd pick up Hydra's on a warrior is if I was to jungle with him. Same reasoning as above. Thanks, will try my best!
I main basically the duo lane (support and hunter). Support I do pretty well, but adc I seem to get jumped on and demolished in team fights. Am I going in too early or what...I do very well in the laning phase. My last game I was 6-1 in laning phase and ended up 6-5 after the win.
im fairly new to your channel and i have a question for you , so i was watching the championship group A , and 2 players matbe or three picked bellona which surprised me but then they went full deffence on her , so should i build full def on bellona on solo , i mean 3 def items are enough right ?
Hey DukeSloth, thanks for the video. Been learning from your videos for a while now. I do have a topic I want to know about, which is Shotcalling and how to improve in making the right calls and understandable calls.
A lot of it has to do with map awareness and practice. Knowing where your enemy is makes shot calling _significantly_ easier, so wards are crucial. This is why SPL shot callers are typically roles that ward/roam the map a lot, such as Jungle and Support. Watch for where your enemy is, and try to determine where your team would best be distributed. A basic one is when too many enemies rotate to solo early in the game- if they commit on your solo laner too hard and make a 3-4-man rotation, tell your solo lane to retreat/be careful and try to take the Gold Fury. By the time they realize what's going on, it will be too late and they won't be able to cross the map in time. The same goes for lategame Fire Giants, though to a slightly lesser extent because people are roaming a lot by then anyways. Also, try to spot out enemy rotations and call for rotations of your own team when needed. If you see mid coming in to gank your duo and nobody has called it yet, ping the map and call to be careful or retreat.
I don't know why this needs a guide. There is frontline and backline. If you are tanky you are frontline, if you are not, back line. Just stay to this rule and play the game.
Grevot na Shashka Ljuben Exactly what I was thinking, I'm a ranked conquest player in plat 3 and this has literally been common sense since bronze :/ idk why Duke is teaching common sense. Are the majority of his viewers really that stupid?
There's more to this than just front- and backline, especially considering escape routes and pathing depending on available escapes. This topic has been requestested multiple times and it has never been adressed anywhere. It may be common sense to you and me, having played the game long enough to make it into ranked, but there are plenty of people here who are just starting to play Smite/Conquest/Ranked. As you can tell from the rest of the comments, there are clearly more than enough people who did benefit from this topic. Calling people "stupid" just because they have less experience in a video game is pretty arrogant btw.
Rushing Lilly Chaac is an extreme lane bully. Do not plan on winning lane against him with most solo laners. However as long as you aren't behind going into late game you will be a larger asset to your team, as Chaac is much less of a threat to an entire team.
You wont beat a chaac in lane unless you're on ravana or osiris ( the 2 biggest bullies), his sustain and poke is too good, which is why he is good against the high CC aggressors (Tyr/Bellona).
Kumba doesn't like your rules dude, he belongs in the enemy's back line. He's safer there. I mean really apart from Nox and maaaaaaaaaybe Bakasura who is going to even remotely threaten a Kumba?
Let's talk about positioning and when people play Guardians and build tank items just to hide behind their teammates like little bitches, since they won't go in until someone else initiates.
MaicoMoon or when you do tank up some damage and do your job as a guardian but no one will initiate so you die then you team gets wiped cus they wouldn't do shit :/
that (guardians being "pussies") happens way less than (or as a response to) your teammates being more worried about the scattered minions for their stacks instead of the fight happening around them, not going in even if they are right behind you and you announced your initiation, or waiting for you to die to then go in and die also.
thats not always true....usually get stuck with tank and my go to choice is hp5 xing...even after saving the entire team by getiing ulted by all enemies those team(bitches)mates will ask me....were wer you man...my response.. "baking you a cake"
Ur mana usage is really really bad. Work on it. Not sayin ur bad. Ur good, u just use abilities WAY too often and the wrong abilities at sometimes. Ur awesome doe
+Liam G. It depends how much you speak english with whom and how you learned it. I've been told that I have a british accent, being german that seems contradictory especially because I have never been in England

Seriously if even 30% percent 9f the xbox smite community watched u i wouldnt get idiots as much. I have lokis who try to 1v3, i have chernobogs who build almost pure attack speed, i have odins who sot under tower never moving just letting enemies wail on him, & i have people who simply need to watch this video because they either don't understand how far away they basic attack or in some cases are n assasin who tries to go in on a target not realizing thry left a teammate wide open to be destroyed Not saying that i am good or amazing but every match i write down how i could have done things differently & it seriously helps
As a Warrior main. No matter how many times I tell myself that when I play hunter I shouldn't be in the frontline. I. Always. Fucking. Frontline. Kill me
It's okay that's a good playstyle. I'm not a fond of hunters because the way you play them is just for pussies tbh
Inters3ct Gaming *phew* i'm not the only one. I always have to tell myself: "Poseidon is not Tyr, get back there!"
CursedDemon1707 Yeah too bad Tyr is just an ass to kill and requires a fuck ton of teamwork ;/
I'm a hunter main and I tend to get ahead uhh a little too often and I don't mean like a level on the enemy adc I mean like 3-4 on everyone so I tend to frontline because I can just kill everything before it can kill me. This obviously causes problems when I'm not that far ahead

FINALLY I've been looking for a good positioning guide for months! Thanks!
Glad if I could help a little! :)

This is why your one of my favorite smite TH-camr :D you help me a lot thanks for the video, much love
the SPL example was super helpful. You should do this more often
Very nice, I loved the pro-match clip analysis! You should do more examples like that in yours guides!
Thank you dukesloth for this amazing representation
Who needs positioning when you can backdoor?
Hey Duke, this series you're starting will be great if u can ask a few friends to be the enemy team ;)
A nice intro to positioning, but it's so tough to teach except by playing (and to a lesser extent watching) since it's CONSTANTLY different, like you were briefly getting into with the SPL teamfight example. can you talk about key bindings? I've noticed you have different key bindings for your abilities, would be useful if you talk about it.
He has an older video on this. Idk what it's called, but you can probably look up "duke sloth key bindings" and find it.
Inconspicuous Username thanks dude.
thanks for doing this i have a few players on my team that can really use this i've shared this video. along with some others you have done to help improve there skills I'm looking forward to more like this thanks again.
An updated version of this video would be dope since the map has changed
Recently found your channel and i love it

Could you please remake this video for modern smite, literally no one talks about it
What key bindings do you use ? Seeing A W R and Spacebar for the abilities is pretty confusing, which keys do you use to move ?
he made a vid
IHSAN DOWLATZAI oh nice, thank you
Can you please do an in depth video about diminished returns crowd control
Learned a lot, now I just need to practice 👍
I main basically the duo lane (support and hunter). Support I do pretty well, but adc I seem to get jumped on and demolished in team fights. Am I going in too early or what...I do very well in the laning phase. My last game I was 6-1 in laning phase and ended up 6-5 after the win.
can you do something on ymir jungle?
im fairly new to your channel and i have a question for you , so i was watching the championship group A , and 2 players matbe or three picked bellona which surprised me but then they went full deffence on her , so should i build full def on bellona on solo , i mean 3 def items are enough right ?
Usually almost full defense is best for Bellona. Throw in a frostbound hammer and maybe a runeforged hammer for good measure.
thank you for replaying , i usually go frost + qins and 3 def items and boots , but ill change it i guess

ok so i was watching your vid and i happend to look at your keybinds, so wtf do you use to move if you binded your a,w and e keys to abilites?
gonna take a guess here but maybe e,s,d and f. All ability keys are within range without causing strain.
dylan dennen There is a previous vid on it, but forget what it is called

very useful!
Remember kids, always practice positioning with your good pal Loki.
With what buttons do you move I don't get it :/
esdf
That's odd lel
Can anyone help me?I can't seem to win lane against chaac, any counters?
Rushing Lilly Chaac is an extreme lane bully. Do not plan on winning lane against him with most solo laners. However as long as you aren't behind going into late game you will be a larger asset to your team, as Chaac is much less of a threat to an entire team.
Payton Fair The only thread chaac has in lategame is his murderous ult and since the last patch his slow + runeforged.
You wont beat a chaac in lane unless you're on ravana or osiris ( the 2 biggest bullies), his sustain and poke is too good, which is why he is good against the high CC aggressors (Tyr/Bellona).

maybe he's tired of being the only one fighting because you're a puss and don't join him when he does initiate

Ur mana usage is really really bad. Work on it. Not sayin ur bad. Ur good, u just use abilities WAY too often and the wrong abilities at sometimes. Ur awesome doe
RiPshoT he wont take ut as hate bc even he says he needs to work on his mechanics
RiPshoT he often says or has said that he is shit mechanically
That sometimes is done to use less mana.
Emad Gholam lol small ammount? it can make a ton of difference bro
Yea I agree
Are you german? I subscribed to you, for a few weeks now... and you always sound like you have a german accent :D
Liam G. he is, I couldn't place his accent what made you think that or notice that rather?
I am german,too.... and he pretty sounds like me :D

Anyone else notice how ravana was sliding everywhere :D
un-smite related question. Do you watch the Bundesliga?
Nah, never found any interest in football
maybe you should have tried to get a few other guys like at least 2 too really better illustrate what you're saying.
I mean, pretty sure everyone knows where the gold fury stands :P No need to bother other people for half an hour of customs for that!
DukeSloth well yeah XD
Jean-Claude Garcia u could have bothered me I wouldn't have mind.
