Paul’s Tackle Reviews - Preston Innovations Shuttle

  • This review looks at my Preston shuttle. I bought this as a 2 wheel version around 8 years ago, then added the 4 wheel conversion around 4 years ago.
I look in detail at its features as well as the modifications I’ve made including handle raisers and inception bars to hold my box.
I show how I load the shuttle and how I use it in my adapted vehicle.
There is a separate short video on my channel showing how to take the shuttle apart for putting in the car.

Excellent video...not rushed and really well explained. I was in the process of choosing a new trolley. This has been really helpful in making my choice. The use of ratchet straps...brilliant. Thanks again for the video. Now subscribed to watch more.

Thanks for the good feedback. What you will find with a barrow is that it’s a ball ache loading and unloading it and taking it apart and reassembling for transit. If you can borrow the WAV, even if you can’t leave the rod holdalls on top in transit, wheeling it in and out pre loaded is a time and effort saver.

Another great video Paul, Today i put all my pole apart from 16m section into the guru hard case including spare sleeved NO 4,Dolly butts, top kits two landing net handles . I will be using this instead of my Guru holdall. I have the map trolley with the net bag on the front which is excellent and i get my Matrix tray in there as well . I spent over an hour trying to get my Map lite seat to sit flat on my trolley with the use of the back bar i put in as i previously mentioned . This is still a work in practice and is proving very difficult to sort out.I hate loading and unloading -six times each trip. I have recently bought a a couple of DURA SLIP ELASTICS, i have generally used HYDRO and to be honest I like it and it last for ages. But its price point is £15. Paul Holland on match focus knew the people who invented Hydro and when he started out they sponsored him and he has used it for your years. He is now doing a long term review on dura slip v hydro to see which is the best, cost implications etc and for the general angler who has wife and kids and money is tight. I will let you know how i get on just using the hard case , i hope it works as i want to carry less and leave the holdall in the garage plus not carrying 4 trays of rigs - pointless - my next mission is to take 1 tray

Thanks for the good feedback. I only started using the guru case for my pole after I did my review showing how it could take a full pole! I’m still hopeful of the trolley bar from MAP, but not optimistic. I’ve been a real elastic tart over the years trying loads of different ones, I’m now almost exclusively a duraslip man, irrespective of cost I think it’s the best out there.

Great video Paul,, great set up,,, I have a 2003 Citroen berlingo van which I bought for fishing and stuff like tip runs ,,, but I have to unload my shuttle to get my gear in the van , however I keep the shuttle assembled;; like you mentioned, you can,and do take lots of tackle to the bank , and as a guess I bet you only use 20/30 % of it. Great videos, keep it up, tight lines. Neil

If you search ‘metal cam buckle strap’ in ebay loads come up. The ones I use are 3m in length work really well.

I enjoy your videos Paul. It's great you have no sponsorship and you give an honest unbiased opinion.
Quick question regarding the Preston shuttle - would it fit through a standard back gate? (Assuming it's loaded so it's not wider than the widest point) My tackle is kept at the bottom of the garden so I would like to load the trolley by my fishing shed and take it loaded through the back gate to the car. I've looked for dimensions of the unit and can't find any - keep the videos coming 👍

Thanks for the good feedback. I’m not likely to get sponsored and I have no plans to show anyone how to fish - lots more competent anglers doing those videos!
The widest part of my trolley unloaded is c62cm (the width of the rear wheels), loaded the widest part is the widest width of your box, in my case outer mud foot to outer mud foot is c74cm. This fits the side gate to my house which is around 84cm. Hope this helps.

Paul your car is great I thought it was going to be a transit or a caddy . I have 1 question about your trolley does it have rubber wheels ? because if it does thats great most trolleys have plastic ones from what I can see.

    • @paulstacklereviews1695
      @paulstacklereviews1695  ปีที่แล้ว

It has the plastic wheels that come as standard with the shuttle. The front wheels are the original one which are getting on for 10 years old, people keep talking about the bearings going but mine seem fine (or I don’t see the issue!).

After watching your video I try and buy straps to replace those wretched bungee hook cords, they are so dangerous!

Bungees are dangerous, the straps in the video I still use, the same ones I bought 5+ years ago.
