  • This video looks at my seat box, the MAP H30 lite. I look at the features in detail providing information to allow someone to decide whether it’s a box for them. I’ve made some changes to suit my preferences and outline what these are.
    I also look at what has changed with the new H30 launched this week.

    Hi Paul you should try putting your foot plate on from the back of your box when you put it on your trolly you then have the plate at the back the bar at the front it works well with my inception box sorts the problem of it falling back and all you do is put your footplate back on the box at the front when you get to your peg👍

    Got the same box Paul, future fishing we’re doing a deal for the h30 comp £250 delivered. I sold the base unit and footplate so now I’ve just got the box like a stool, I carry it on a rigger platform Barrow which I sit it on when I get to the bank and I add keepnets and arms to that if needed , really impressed with it and stripped back there’s nothing that can really fail.

    I have a 15 year old Preston X3 still works, does everything I need, it needs a bit of tidying up though a new custom made seat, the handle and strap need replacing, it's so easy to believe the marketing hype and just buy a new one but at a minimum £300 for an Inception or a matrix S25 I'm really torn between a new box and making the X3 look great again because I really don't think sitting on a commercial or canal justifies a platform/station set up, they don't even seem as practical storage wise and Preston have cleverly stopped making the onbox series I reckon it's because they're a one time buy unlike Modular station's where they can keep marketing more add on product. I like your unbiased review pal, rather refreshing👍

      Thanks for the good feedback. If you’re comfy, stable, have adequate storage and have all the attachments you need then spending money on a new box probably won’t catch you any more fish!

    Great review,have just purchased inception station as wanted something reasonably light however this box may have been better ,looking forward to shuttle review as thinking of purchasing but ideally need to see how practical it is ,great stuff 😀 👍

      Thanks for the good feedback. The Inception station looks a great box and is probably the lightest box with a frame below the seat. The final weight will depend what you put in it and how many attachments you carry on it. The shuttle review will be next weekend, when I bought my trolley there wasn’t a lot of choice, now there are good alternatives from Matrix and Map. That said if it broke I may get another shuttle (it is the 2 wheel version with the 4 wheel conversion).

    Top Man. - Great to see your adaption re trolley as we have previously mentioned, mine isn’t so smart but the design of the Map trolley is different. Im in the process of ordering a seat like yours but with a little design. Like you its the weight of the boxes. I have a Matrix S36 in the shed which takes up a lot of room in the car and I have an estate, with two people gear its a bit too much. Im hoping i dont weaken and change because when I’m seated on the box its great, there’s enough room. The seats a bit firm but as i said I will be changing it but its not a deal breaker. Im going fishing Wednesday and i will see if my pole will fit into my guru top kit carry case when I unpack, I dont think it will but to get rid of the holdall would be a giant step for Man kind. Look forward to you videos and being unsponsored is massive as you can say what you like and the items have been purchased by you and used over a period of time.

      Thanks for the good feedback Pete. I wonder whether MAP will hear my call for the trolley bar! Following my video on the Guru case I now carry my 14.5m pole (2 sections) and most top kits (5 shalla and 8 normal) in it, big space saving, I then use the Drennan tip tube for other (mainly margin) kits. Have to say I’m interested in the new Cresta Identity case which could take my 16m pole, margin pole (inside extension) and all my top kits, I’d like to see one, it’s basically bigger version of the Guru.

    Hi Paul,always appreciate the time and effort you put in to making the videos.I have just bought a map h30 lite seat box,could you let me know where you got the leg extensions please, I am currently working out what I need to keep on my box with it being a H frame,it's the first one I have owned.Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the great work.

    • @paulstacklereviews1695
      @paulstacklereviews1695  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the good feedback. The leg extenders are by Matrix and are 25mm diameter, they work great but you need to think about what inserts you will need (link below) Try and keep brackets on the box during transit (will depend on how you carry, barrow space etc), keepnet arms, pole socks etc. but only if they are not at risk of damage. It’s a great box, I have it without the deep drawer but with a shallow tray, you need to work out what works for you. The legs have never slipped. Any queries just ask (I’m on the Maggotdrowning forum if you want to contact me direct).

    Another great video Paul
    Can you get a revolving fold down seat for this box - as per prestons inception 360?
    Need to upgrade my seatbox but limited in choice and the map sounds ideal ref weight

    • @paulstacklereviews1695
      @paulstacklereviews1695  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not at the present time I’m afraid. The Preston inception 360 is probably similar weight and dimensions and might be your best option. The only other realistic option would be a Matrix xr36 competition and use your current seat but that’s 16.6kg empty and you might need new attachments for the bigger legs. I don’t think a Matrix f25/p25 (using your current seat) is an upgrade from your current box. I’d ring Bristol Angling to see when they are getting the inception 360 in again to have a look post lockdown (currently out of stock).

      I always organise everything so I can get on the box from the right (facing the water) with a clear channel. You may have given me an idea for a video showing the full box set up when fishing fully set up for rods and pole.

    Hi Paul, great video as always. I’m really looking at purchasing this box, or the 36m , I’m interested to know where or how you store your pole winders? That’s the only thing I’m hesitating about.
    Thank you

    • @paulstacklereviews1695
      @paulstacklereviews1695  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the good feedback. I bought an additional tray for my winders, they are about £50. I use Preston double winders and store around 50 floats on 26 winders. I have a Preston box with around 10 longer winders (for big floats) that goes in my bag. I would have preferred a sliding shallow side tray, but the one provided has fixed dividers in it so not suitable.

      Know what you mean but a bit faffy (especially with the metalware i leave on during transit) plus would need something firm on top to support the holdalls.

  • @martinhassall7884
    @martinhassall7884 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi paul thanks for doing this video. Im still looking for a really lightweight box. A couple of questions can you removed the footplate easily? as sometimes dont need it and that will keep things lighter and the other is there any other light seatboxes you recommend? As i dont need all the draws but mainly looking for one for poles floats and a couple of draws for bits and bobs? Oh one other question do you know the weight of just the seatbox without the footplate? As im guessing when people state the weight of a box it uncludes the footplate with it.

    • @paulstacklereviews1695
      @paulstacklereviews1695  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn’t describe it as a really lightweight box, but it is amongst the lightest of its type and style. The new Maver EVO is stated at 10kg, which is a lightweight full box with footplate (never seen one). Mine is the mark one model and to remove the footplate you take out the front legs and slide the mechanism off, not too difficult, with the mark two model you use an Allen key on the underside of the footplate and slide it out, but I assume the bracket to hold the footplate remains in place. Without the footplate as I have it (shallow drawer, winder tray) it’s between 7-8kg, with the footplate around 14kg. You will need an additional tray for winders (around £50), you can’t use the side drawer as it has fixed dividers so wouldn’t get many in. You could use the shallow or deep drawer or both for bits and bobs. I had a good clear out and manage comfortably with only the shallow side drawer - lots of people carry spools of line and packets of hooks and I suspect rarely use them on the bank. To need less space for example I have a small Preston eva for my pole pots which goes in my bag. It’s not easy finding the perfect box to match your own preferences, I’m very happy with mine.

      Unfortunately not a perfect fit. The kit is wider than the box so the pull handle needs sawing down or bending. It's on the box though
