In todays Video we take a closer look at the new concept mining ship from RSI in Star Citizen. This ship is equipped with plenty of useful features and has somehow kept some sleek looks despite being a mining ship. Im personally looking foward to following the development of this ship.
With powerful remote-controlled laser heads, a shifting top/bottom mining turret, space for ground mining vehicles, an onboard refinery, and a comfortable living area, the Arrastra is perfectly suited to long-haul multi-crew mining operations.

Star Citizen's new Mining Concept ship the RSI Arrastra, is a ship that looks incredible is packed with features and has secured a place in my hangar. This ship itself will almost certainly prove itself to be useful in and around the verse. I look foward to its arrival! BUT what do you guys think about the Arrastra? I feel this is the best ship we've seen in a long time. Might be my new favorite and most anticipated ship.

I had to have this. It's EXACTLY what I wanted. I bought the Orion some years ago but I soon realized how demanding such a behemoth would be...Alot of people still kinda blindly say; But the Orion is bigger n better.....
Without taking a moment to realize how much overhead, and how much of a logistical demand it would be... Theh think they'll take the Orion out with 5 to 10 guys and print money lol...

I intended to melt my Orion but forgot how good of a deal I got on it. $395.... I can't lol... So I'll just have to keep both but I know the Arrastra will be the easiest option at any given moment.
The three complaints I have are pretty minor if not petty lol..
*I'm still a bit salty that Argo didn't win the contract for this. They would have done such an amazing industrial job, but I do fear they would have bypassed the armament choice for something useless lol...
*I'm not a fan of the design language for what it is. Don't get me wrong, it looks badass!! But, a bit....too badass for an industrial ship IMHO, lol...
*Lastly, the external cargo.. I'm just not a fan of it but I understand why they did it and how it actually helps with the internal use of space. I'll get over it.
All in all, it's looking to be an amazing ship!! Can't wait to run her! 🫡
I too was annoyed the argo didn't win, however now I've seen this I'm no longer complaining ha ha
@@PIN-o7ARGO would have been cool, but we did get a really nice design. I actually voted for MISC, I think they placed last in the poll. Lol.
I like it. I hope it becomes a modular multi-role ship not just for mining.
It's a cool ship; however, I am cautiously optimistic about the Arrastra. I have a CCU chain from my MOLE, but I have refinery concerns. I believe my friends and I may be able to process ore more quickly dumping and loading ore bags with a Caterpillar and refining elsewhere. The Q&A can't get here fast enough!

The Arrastra reminds me of what it would look like if RSI wanted to make a competitor for the Orca from EvE Online. I cant WAIT to get my hands on this ship.
I picked up a CCU for it, expecting i can shave off some price by the time it is released.
It will likely be used more than an Orion would be in my fleet.

Got the Orion and will not change it out, hope the arrestra will be a loaner. The Orion withe the minelayer and a Perseus is our guild mining and defence operation. But there is the problem withe large ship operation, so i think the arrestra is the better option overall, and damn it looks good.
I like the idea of more mining barges and different kinds.
Someone pointed me to the tanks on the underside, kinda risky.

Definitely. I have Prospector as well as the Expanse. But I may no longer need the Expanse or the Prospector. But we will see

I held off on buying this as I believe as an orion owner the loaner vehicle for the orion will be updated to this ship. And if I like it I can just melt it to buy this ship

Yeah, ive had to do a reality check and dump access crap like the ''Orion/Endeavor/Polaris/Perseus/Odyssey'' and scaling down to a more sane group ''RSI Arrastra/Galaxy/Zeus/Crucible/Railen''.

The Odyssey wouldn't be any worse to run than the Galaxy. Same crew count. Nevertheless, it's good to re-evaluate every now and then and make changes. 🙂
@@JL-rj9fl Well, i don't mind a few mates or very small org, where we can jaunt around casually, yet it can get out of hand very quickly, its one thing ''supporting development'', but another donating massive ships to the community, because that's what it amounts to. In other words your financing CIG on a ludicrous scale. Generosity only goes so far, then its charity.

Will the Arrastra make it for 4.0?
It's a great looking ship, but it could be 5 years before it's in game. I don't really feel like spending 10x the price of a game to wait 5 years for a ship in a game that may or may not be complete by then.
Do you think these size ships such as the galaxy will be feasible for a solo player once npc hiring becomes a thing?
They won’t be, and were never meant to be operated by 1 person.
Turrets, power management, damage and patching to prevent decompression will require many “cooks in the kitchen” if you will to keep it afloat well.
CIG have said these ships can be operated solo, however even with npcs it won't be easy. Difficult but do - able
Yes it will be. It will be able to be soloed as it is although you'll need to switch seats, and with NPCs it will be great. Very usable. Additionally, you will have the option of computer blades as well, independent of NPCs. Pay no attention to the naysayer. That person has no idea how multicrew is meant to work in the end.
@@Desrtfox71 I mean did you watch SCL? Torston expressly said you can fly it, but ITS NOT VIABLE.
If you read their question, they asked if it’s viable, that’s a no. You can fly it, but it would be slow and inefficient compared to player ran ships.
CIG has said, DAY ONE, multi crew ships are meant for players and aren’t an auto win with NPC crew… not nay saying, I don’t want someone making a purchase without informed information.
@@jsullivan649I believe with a NPC crew it should be 60 to 70 percent effective compared to a full real person crew. CIG said themselves they are trying to reduce some of the bigger crew size ships. I believe in a ratio of some kind, for a real player they can effectively manage 2 or 3 NPC.
What made obsolete is the refining module in the Galaxy
I had my mind set on the Galaxy.. i was all prepped to buy it on RSI day, until i saw the Arrastra. Change of plans.
@@hawkzulu5671 both ships work very well together. Galaxy cargo can sell the refine material, while keeping the Arrastra mining and refining. You add a Starfarer to the mix and you can have a continuous operation going. Cash machine
