Star Citizen's Crusader Spirit C1 what a ship! The ship itself is very cool in its design, good on the eye and very flexible in the roles it can operate in around the deepest and dark corners of the verse. 64 SCU and a a tractor beam for any and all logistical operations and more than enough firepower should you need it. This ship would be usefel in any fleet. But what do you guys think of the Spirit C1 as always let me know down below!!
The Cutlass Black is the ship you pick as a more jack of all trades hauler. It's the ship you want to be in if you're fighting, but you lose the cargo capacity and get some extra jump seats for a boarding party. Both will be good space loading platforms, and I think they are direct competitors - one doesn't obsolete the other. Classic Drake pirate ship vs the civilian freighter. 🙂 It's two flavours of ice cream basically. Three flavors if we bring the Freelancer in to the mix. Great review as always though, even if we may disagree on the competitors in this case. 😊 Please check out the Taurus again, I think you may find its in a class of its own.
I agree with you in certain aspects, is the cutty obsolete? Certainly not. But I do feel that it needs bringing up to speed somehow. I think size wise is what makes me feel that it is closer to Taurus than cutty. Your right the Taurus is amazing it was my first ( large ish ) ship and I loved it. With the freelancers I couldn't possibly own a freelancers over a spirit personally they aren't too pretty in my eyes but are very functional well built ships. Finally it's good to have disagreements thats why this community is awesome I embrace the different points of view. Thankyou for your comment JL. Always pleasant to hear from you buddy.
@@PIN-o7 Yeah, the poor Cutty does need an update badly. I love the C1, it's so nice, it really such a nice stepping stone up from the starters. Plus, it does so much like you highlighted and the quality is so, so good on this one. :) A Taurus video would be really fun to do, we're so spoiled for choices now. We really do have a great community, I love the conversations and discussions too. P.S. I said I wouldn't, but I purchased the Syulen a few days ago not long after we talked about the Odyssey. I couldn't help myself, it's such a beauty and should remain useful for a long time. Take care my friend!
I have the C1 and A1 and love them both. Fantastic ships and they look awesome. I also have the Zeus CL and MR pledged, but I'm betting they will end up either melted or upgraded at some point. I was a cutty black fan before using this C1, and would not go back.
I think it's a very attractive ship and one to consider as a daily driver, except for one thing, the Zeus CL. Doesn't mean I might not enjoy flying a C1 in the meantime though. Especially since the C1 is the loaner on the Ship Loaner Matrix for the Zeus CL.
I own the zeus MR atm, I imagine that ship and its variants are going to be special. Especially as cig really are producing some great designs as of late.
@@PIN-o7 I'm a fan of the 400i and am hard pressed to consider the Zeus ES because of its size L fuel tank and size L radar. I'll have to wait and see what the Zeus finally looks like in all its iterations.
Wut, how can I be your first member? Dude, you're great, I hope you don't stop making SC content. I guess you don't do enough negativity and hot takes to get in the feeds.
Also yes to Taurus. It's like take all the stuff the cutlass is ok at and make it actually great. Like the Cutty though, I think the more ships a person has, the less value and use something like a Taurus has.
Idk, I think cutlass black is a pretty good contender… once ship armor becomes a factor, I think the cutlass will have an advantage where C1 is going for sleek looks. No frills pirate ship vs Mercedes trucker is how I see it lol
@@PIN-o7 Seeing how useful the tractor beam is for cargo loading, it really makes you think twice about what kind of cargo ship you want. Ships like the C2 Hercules may have 672 SCU, but everything has to be loaded manually into it. The Railen on the other hand may only have 320 SCU, but has two tractor beams for effortless loading.
But Pin, the Mercury is supposed to be a competitor for the Conties. Why would a manufacture have a worse version of their own ship in the same bracket? It must be a mistake from the ship team. Either that or half a meter of pad space to park the thing was a bad plan.
The msr is a data runner first and foremost. Secondly the c1 is only competing with the one Connie which is the Taurus. However, the Taurus has better shields and firepower but is more of a match than the cutlass.
The MSR isn't a competitor to the Constellation series. It's mainly a data runner with multicrew aspects. The Spirit C1 only competes with the Taurus in the cargo department. Other than that, it mostly competes with the Cutlass and Freelancer in terms of size and capabilities.
@@joellouisfireEven then, the C1 can't compete with the Taurus on volume alone. Two different classes of ship. I agree that it's competitors are strictly the Cutlass Black and base Freelancer. Some try and compare it to the Zeus CL or Freelancer MAX, but those lie between it and the Taurus. The Taurus really doesn't have a true competitor. Perhaps we'll see more ships in that space in the future.
@@PIN-o7 A data runner that hauls 114 SCU? Are you telling me the MSR is slimming down and losing the cargo hold once we get data moving? Otherwise it is a competitor to the Taurus in addition to the dedicated data ships once data is introduced.
Honestly i havent been dissapointed by the stock components. But i normally start with the QT drive and shields. But it really depends on how you intend to use the ship. Weapons i would slap laser repeaters on rather than cannons.
Until the connies get their flight models revisited, they literally cant fly or turn for shyte. I daily'd my taurus for a long time til that happened. Now the C1 will be my daily. It handles way better than the MAX and if I need huge cargo take a C2. I got an A1 also but not much use for it yet.
The Spirit series has an absurdly large footprint for what it is, a real turn off for me. It's wingspan is awkwardly, clumsily wide and someting that can't be ignored. It also only has one entry/exit point which is also a massive negative for me. It looks pretty and flies well, which is what we have come to expect of Crusader ships, but other than that, the C1 has no appeal to me and I'd rather have a Cutlass Black over it, being the better utility van that you can just throw about and get siht done in. It's nice to see othres so passoinate about the Spirit though and I totally respect that. It's the variety of choice we have in ships that makes SC so great. The C1 might not be for me, but for someone else, it's a gem and their choice of 'hero' ship, I love that!
I couldn't agree more, the ships appeal to different personalities which is why we have such a great community! It would be quite boring if we all liked the same stuff. My problem is I like 99 percent of all the ships, ha ha.
I think it's silly to even compare the C1 with the Cutlass. For one, the Cutlass is way cheaper. Secondly, the C1 is a dedicated hauler, the Cutlass is designed for versatility. CIG is at fault for even suggesting there was competition here, it's apples and oranges
spirit series are drop dead gorgeous. I've flown the cutlass a lot, this isn't just a nice change of pace, this is it. Well, until the Zeus is in game that is.
I'd say that it is superior in mission capability and design over the MISC Freelancer series. The Cutlass is probably the better Jack of all trades ship. I'd love the Cutty a lot more if I could swap in the Cutty Blue's cockpit and side airlocks instead of the sliding doors. The C1 is the "better" civilian peacetime ship, the Cutlass is the better multi-mission ship. The Freelancer however, is in real trouble because only the Max competes with the C1 and their design flaws are glaring when compared with the Spirit series.
The shield is pretty good? 1 s2 is ridiculous for the size of the ship. Absolutely useless for fighting. You can fight waaaay better in a C2, what tells a lot!

Even after upgrading it's made of paper, the wing tips are the first thing to go in a fight.
