    Very disappointed in Marin's unsportsmanlike attitude and disrespectful behaviour to her opponent and court officials. Screams aside, she repeatedly neglected the umpire's request to show due respect to Sung and return the shuttle to her, once, twice and she continues to ignore his warning. When Sung had hit the net with the shuttle (not the racket), Marin abusively protest to the umpire with intention to influence his decision for an over-rule in favour of herself. This match was very difficult to watch as for many spectators due to the politics involved... apart from the action we would like to see players respect each other as professional athletes. I would hate to be in the position of Sung who has to endure all this and has shown great professionalism throughout and not complaining about Marin (which in some points I would). Marin is a World Champion and is a role model for many so she should know better. There needs to be a dividing line of winning and the way to win it. She may have won World Champs, and Sung hasn't? but at least Sung shows good sportsmanship who gives 100% for every match and point. I believe the umpire saw the importance of this issue and made the right decision in the end...

      "When Sung had hit the net with the shuttle (not the racket)" Except Sung did touch the net with the racket before the shuttle hit the floor, it's a fault. Marin does have a point there.

    The problem is not only screaming. Marin very often doesn't pick up the shuttle when she ought to. Even when she picks it up, she just sweep it over very rudely (sweep is ok, but does it rudely is not ok), or she just place the shuttle far far away from the center of the court for the opponent. And She not only does it once or twice, but many many times. Never seen a player with such bad manner.

    And on another note, I don't think it's a wise decision to let the umpire's microphone be turned on if the umpire is talking to a player (what Gillian Clark is hoping for). I do understand her frustration, but the umpire is hereby also protecting the player's integrity, which to me is a good cause.

    Good umpiring. It's such a pity though: Marin is an excellent player and especially in Europe we need players that can be a terrific ambassador for our sport, as badminton isn't by far as popular as in the Asian countries. Without those antics, she would bring so much more joy on and off the court.

    Marin could be such a good ambassador for badminton in Spain (only 7000 badminton players I once read) and the rest of Europe. But she is an arrogant player, shouts a lot, even shouts when an opponent falls and could be hurt, her face expression is very unpleasant. Although her style is efficient it is not smooth, it looks clumsy, not nice to see her play in style and as a person.

    I can't stand Carolina Marin. I know that her screaming is legal, but it gets very old and annoying. It kills me because its always when her opponent makes an error, not like she earned a hard fought point or anything. She was waisting soo much time also, she deserved what she got.

    screaming too way out just to intimate yr opponent i dont really agree. Play with skill to win, is what everyone would love to see. Frm my point of view, if she gain a point she can scream but when her opponent makes a mistake she also scream. it show that what kind of sportmanship? a pity if every player do that. Win with skill and tactics is what we called well deserve winning

  • @karinsone
    @karinsone 8 ปีที่แล้ว +27

    Gosh Marin is so annoying. Her screams is seriously no joke and i found it very irritating. No wonder why many people dislike her. Skill is nothing without attitude. She deserves the red cards. I hope she could learn and try to be better in her manner. The way she delivers the shuttlecock to her opponent was terrible. She thought she is the greatest player or something? She is so cocky and arrogant. If she couldn't fix that side of her, trust me, she will be gone too soon.

      Learn the rules, shouting is legal. After a point, and for a smash. Otherwise never during a point where it could distract a player. Thankfully people like you do not make the rules, or the game would be even less popular in the West than it is now.

      Because the ref wanted to be the star of the final instead of letting the players. He chose the key moment in the third set and gifted the final to her rival. If I were watching that, and had paid, I would have asked the ref to pay for my ticket.

    Hello! I am Spanish, and I think Carolina Marín is an incredible player, currently the best European woman, but today she wasn't herself. Usually Carolina is very respectful with referee and the other players, because the scream isn't disrespectful, It's a manner to celebrate the points and intimidate the opponent, and she can do it if she feel comfortable. Today she had a bad day and has already apologized.
    I'm so proud of she, and I hope to she continue winning tournaments around the world. ¡Viva España y muy grande Carolina!

      I do have a problem with her scream. It is a huge distraction to the other quiet players, it is not fair to the others.
      Sung is doing the same as a response. What a bad behaving woman, Marin.
      I think it is not just me, a lot of people here do HATE her behaviour.

    • @mo.c3595
      @mo.c3595 9 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @Javier Vila Omg, can you be more of an hypocrite..?
      She has NEVER been respectful of the referee and other players, precisely because her behaviour and her screaming is forced, ovedone and plainly unsporting. (screaming 2/4 times after a rally of a few seconds is one example).
      Your comment is so ridiculous on so many levels: "It's a manner to intimidate the opponent" and how dare saying that as if it was normal and acceptable? how is intimidating your opponent good sportmanship? Genuinely thought a match was about who is the best player, not who is the most verbally agressive and intimidating. "she can do it if she feels comfortable"...such a disguting display of narcissistic / egocentric logic: what she feels comfortable doing is absolutely, completely irrelevant as soon as it unfairly distracts/unsettles your opponent she should refrain from doing so.
      All in all Carolina Marin is the least classy player women badminton history has ever known and I feel personally deeply ashamed that she is european. I hope she continues to lose in her final events as she did in the last 5 events and get the sanctions she deserves to maybe finally start to question her poor behaviour and ethic.

    Funny how all the fake badminton fans care more about shouting than talent, they refuse to acknowledge her skill or the totally improbable way she has come into the elite, out of nowhere. She is amazing, and the jealousy from the old guard is pathetic. She destroyed the world number one in the Worlds, coming back twice, when Li Xuerui did terrible time wasting in the last set, fiddling with bandages to break Marin's momentum after coming back, with no reprimand. Because the Chinese are gods, while a Spaniard is like a dog to badminton elites.
    I love the shouting because she is taking on not only her opponent but the world badminton mafia, including this ref with the ridiculous picking on her, it was all about him being the star (he will certainly be reprimanded for that).
    How anyone can be happy because a ref gifted a final to someone is beyond me. Badminton is where tennis was when you had to wear white, 50 years behind the times.

    • @Lifszyc
      @Lifszyc 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      BTW, Marin may break two rules, and neither involves time-wasting or the shouting. One is that she seems to seek coaching, though it may be simply psychological looks, it is hard to say. If badminton wants to cut coaching out, they should move the coach further away. The other is that a player is supposed to shake hands with the opponent and ref after winning, before celebrating. This is hard to comply with as winning is emotional. The rest are bogus arguments, as the good refs show by letting her play exactly as she does best without making up excuses the help her opponents beat her.

    • @dobrinivanov395
      @dobrinivanov395 9 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      NOBODY is talking about TALENT and WINNING or something like that.It's GREAT that an European player has won the world title (in general), and not all the titles are going to China.What everybody is talking about is her BEHAVIOR.Screaming is aloud when players know when to stop.A shout after you won a point is pretty normal for all the players, but when her opponent serves OUT and she starts screaming 3 times like she is being raped, that passes the fuckin' line! And why aren't we jealous of other players breaking into the elite? Why do you think it's only her that is being picked on? Coincidence? She isn't the only non-asian good player that beats Asians? We can see you like her, but her behavior isn't one of a professional athlete - because of her I'm ashamed that I am European.Her attitude is like throwing the raquet at your opponent.(I MEAN RUDE)
