    That floor sander is a beast. Having the floors done really really makes a difference in the look. Great job in this long labor of love, & digging✌🏻

    That floor looks amazing sanded! Reminds me of old growth fir flooring you find in 1920's and older homes here in the states.

    Amazing that in New Zealand.... your finished floor goes directly to the floor joists. Here in the states, we will have 1 some times 2 layers of 3/4” plywood glued & screwed down as subfloor, then a layer of felt paper then then the finished hardwood......that’s exactly what’s in my house.

    Only problem with that repair is you need to have access to the underside. In the UK you would just fix bearers direct to the side of the joists. We would also try to keep the tongues intact and just remove the bottom of the groove on the final board so it can still utilise the tongue but removing the bottom of the groove allows the final board to drop into position.
