    Every member of FEAT is important. Paul may be one of the most underrated players much like Betts. The new drummer is good. He's just not as funky as Richie. Nobody can touch Billy. I can say great things about every member. Kenny is my man. He just never let the motor stop. I wish them all the best. Howdy Sam.

    This is great! It's hard to describe how good it feels just to listen to Paul and Fred slide there way into Down On the Farm.
    These guys can jam and it's always puzzled me why the hard core jam band crowd has never latched onto Feat. Perhaps, for the more ethereal oriented jam fans, the Feat stay too firmly grounded in the funky roots of rock-n-roll. But for me, that's why I love 'em. When Little Feat jams they like to keep their R&R feet firmly planted on the ground - they don't tend to wander off and get lost.
    One more thing. Thank you, thank you Bill Payne! Thanks for seeing Feat through from the start. Thanks for your keyboard virtuosity that has made me grin from ear to ear for so many years. Long live the Feat!

      The Grateful Dead are good but not even on the same fuckin wave length as Little Feat. I can listen to Little Feat for days but the Dead I have to be in the mood for. Little Feat is almost a cult band. People either hate them or don't get the sound, but the fans are almost religious in their appreciation. At least that is the way I see it. Your right that after Lowell they lost a lot of their following but the Truth is their stuff without Lowell was on the same level of musical brilliance. But I have to take this experience from the past because I am 32 I was not alive when they had Lowell and I was a kid during their later stuff. Aint Had Enough Fun, Things Happen in their Own Sweet Time (I don't think that is the actual title), Caddilac Hotel, etc. Well you know exactly what I am talking about. Cheers!

      @@gordonford3933 Gordon Treasure the good times the band has left. "Dey ain't gettin' any younger" Saw them at New Orleans Jazzfest 2019 and they were brilliant. They did an interview and were the nicest, coolest people you would ever want to sit down and talk with. They should be in the R&R HOF, but rock politics is like all other politics.

    • @1blastman

      Anderson - I run every day to Little Feat, I have a playlist of over 100 Feat songs and concerts, and it never gets old. I'm 73 and running to Feat will get me up to 6 or 7 miles on a cool day. When the humidity and temps go up..... it's like doing the old folks boogie - my mind makes a promise my body can't fill.

    Little Feat has been my favorite band since I was in HS jammed out to Waiting For Columbus all throughout my school years. I would tell people they were my favorite band and most people even the teachers never heard of them and if they did they laughed at me. I even did a speech in Speech/Debate over the band and my teacher was mad at me and said "seriously". I was in California most people think they were from the South but they derive from LA but strangely enough I can't remember if Lowell was originally from LS. Sad I haven't done as much research on their bios as I should. I know was Lowell was kicked out of Frank Zapa's group. And I think he played with Mother's of Invention before starting the original line up. They are my stranded on an island with only one band to listen to sound. Everyone has a stranded island band or solo artist. What is yours? I'm 32 so this band is way out of my generation but I never cared. I like their stuff without Lowell just as much I thought both sounds were on the same level. Granted fans of the band would argue that point vehemently but hey everyone is entitled to their opinion. When I heard they were doing a gig in Jamaica I said to myself I would give a finger to see that and I am dead serious- God I would have the best fuckin weed listening to the greatest rock group. Well Rock ON!

    This was the song that I love the most by the band. I remember listening to The “Down on the farm” track back in 1979 when the radio announced Lowell’s death. Lowell and Paul were the sound of The band to me. I wish the remaining members all the best with carrying on. Legendary group of musicians.

    i have not, i confess been that much into the feat since lowell passed, i have everything they recorded from go to woo or to when the man died. i love richie and have tried to do his styles with difficulty all my life it seems. when he died i could barely watch or listen anymore and all but dropped listening to any music at all. the loss of lowell first kind of shattered me. Then i found this clip with this drummer. i never thought of richie as being replaceable. but like that saying,"noone is irreplaceabe." what i really like about this guy is he is not as.....busy, or as funky as richie, and this allows a bit more acces in to the drumming required for this sensational group. just a little easier for those who want to drum this type of music. what is this drummers name please? and is he richies drum technician that played occasionally when rich was ill a few years back or is he someone in the groups son/? has he recorded with the band or any other band? im gonna be back in the record store after decades......just saying.

    • @MrTwister50
      @MrTwister50 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe this is the drum tech.

    • @shays01
      @shays01 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The drummer who took Richie's place is Gabe Ford (sousing of Robbin Ford ... an extremely musically gifted family). He was Richie's drum tech since about 2004, and the band ... though they talked about calling it quits without Squidman ... unanimously agreed that Gabe should be the guy to fill his seat.
      As the story continues, Gabe has now moved on to other projects (mostly a family of young kids, who are marvelous human beings, by the way), and Tony Leone is the new drummer for Feat. I watched an interview with Bill today ... he has not sat down and played with Tony since the pandemic -- all work they are doing is via the internet -- but he had nothing but praise. I have seen Tony play with Amy Helm and The Chris Robinson Brotherhood ... he is good. Bill says he grew up listening to and emulating Richie, and that his work on a new version of "Fat Man" (which is to be released real soon) is stellar.

    These guys are truly amazing. They never played a song live the same way twice. And every version was the best they had ever done it. Probably the best concert you could ever attend. Live shows were their superpower. They were very comfortable on stage and they loved doing it. Taking a detour in the middle of a song for a 18 minute music history and delta blues lesson didn't ruffle their feathers one bit and they were always tight despite playing grooves and shuffles so loose and slippery you had to wear seat belts just to listen!

      The drummer who took Richie’s place after his passing is Gabe Ford. He was Richie’s drum tech for years. I agree, no one is or will ever be Richie. Gabe has a different style, but still an outstanding drummer. He has great musical genes. His uncle is The blues great Robbin Ford.
