    yet another testimonial to Little Feat and the incredible song writing of Lowell George.. Little Feat truly are musicians and critics favorites and knowledgeable music fans too. Warren's voice is perfect for Spanish Moon.

    Got to see Little Feat in mid-70's, one of those concerts you never forget (Lowell George was a genius!). No better band to cover this tune than Warren Haynes & Gov't Mule, best version I've heard since the original!🤟

      I saw Little Feat when they opened for Van Morrison. I came away more impressed w/Little Feat. They blew the house away.

      Envious. I've seen them twice (Toronto and East Stroudsburg, PA) but after Lowell's death. They still had every one else, including the great drummer Richie Hayward.

    July 1976 Little Feat was the final “pre” band before The Rolling Stones, at Stuttgart, FRG. Lowell George was simply great, as was his band. Little Feat was a big production! Tower of Power horn section, around 12 people in the band, big and awesome!

    Great Version/ Can,t go wrong with Warren's vocals and Sco man,s guitar mastery! I,ve been a fan of John,s since back.in the 70,s when he played with the Billy Cobham and George Duke band. I saw him with Miles Davis in 81, at the Kool Jazz festival!😊😊

    This is exactly why real jazz players such as Scofield think they can play anything but in the process of jazz scholarship have lost the FEEL for "simpler" styles such as funk, New Orleans style in this instance... just check his rhythm comping against the original.

    • @williammiller4653
      @williammiller4653 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Check out Uberjam, among others eg Still Warm. JS is a master of many styles, not just pure jazz.

    • @devindevine6887
      @devindevine6887 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You have no clue what you’re talking about. Check out his “Steady Groovin’ - Live at The Blue Note” record and tell me he can’t play over a New Orleans style... Sco is one of the baddest mf’ers in the business. Also, this rhythm section blows donkey in this clip to be honest.

    • @kik1qa
      @kik1qa ปีที่แล้ว

      Steve yes. John's a cool player: never once over 4min plays "behind" the beat like real second line vets like Lowell, Dr. John. Billy Gibbons some too. Listen to Hey Nineteen Dan solos down in that "pocket"

    • @jameshitt3263
      @jameshitt3263 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sounds to me more like the rhythm section dropped the ball on this one. The bass player has no sense of this song's pocket, and the drumming right along with him. I would hate to play this song with what they're doing.

  • @zounds13
    @zounds13 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I don't think that rhythm section is qualified to do this song.

    • @wreckingKREW1
      @wreckingKREW1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Can count the number of rhythm sections that are qualified on one hand and have a finger or two left over. Richie,Kenny and Sam were fucking beasts.

    • @jameshitt3263
      @jameshitt3263 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea, bass and drums just really don't seem to get it here. Hate to be critical--- I always try to be charitable with musicians in general, especially in a live context. But it just totally flew over their heads on this one.

    I don't know this fellow Schofield, but for me, a lover of Little Feat, he ruined the song . Way too long a solo that had little connection to the song. He should have taken a minute and passed it over.

    • @robertespenschied8339
      @robertespenschied8339 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No way at all he ruined it, this is a jam band sir! Long jams are what they do. They stretch out and have fun playing, and play as long as they like.

    • @terenceoneill3075
      @terenceoneill3075 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@robertespenschied8339 Does a jam band get a free pass to make a mess of things? To even make bad music, sir? I do not even geive the Grateful Dead a pass! Because they made some baad music along with unforgettable gems. A jam still needs to meet some standards.

    • @jameshitt3263
