The GG-W-113 (USAF) under contract GS-00F-91404 was made for three years: 1986-88. It was the only 3 years where tritium was not used for luminecense. The faces of these watches have clean, clear numerals and triangles and are not fakes.
Very interesting…. 86-88 …. I don’t think I’ve ever owned a GG from that period …. Good to know this …. There is a lot of small details surrendering these Warblers, and we’re still learning more about them …. Thanks for your input …!! Lukas
Excellent! Your examples make it easy to see the imposters when compared with the watches we could get through supply - especially if the supply Sgt or Officer happened to be a friend- in the Vietnam Era Marine Corps.
This is a great video. I bought a Hamilton GG W 113 last year and it took me weeks of studying that specific model to hopefully avoid a fake. This video contains all of the required info. Do you plan on making a similar video for the Benrus GG W 113 as well, since it has subtle differences from the Hamilton version?
Thank you for this. Have you thought about doing a 'real- fake' on WW2 watches, esp A-11, ord dept, and/or USN BUSHIPS? I am finding a bunch of EBay claims of A-11s and Ord Dept watches that don't add up
There are too many fakes out there and this video needed to be made. I still see people selling and buying them though …. Always be careful when buying :)
Infromative vid, very useful for new buyers. My October '68, and July '69, both have 'Swiss' on the dial, at the six O'clock position, though you can't see that on any of your original examples due to camera position, but it should be there. As a footnote, Hamilton produce 'Homage' GG-W-113 watches under their 'Khaki' range, at near on $500+ (in the UK). I bought both my originals for less than $200.
Many of the examples have the wrong dials in the wrong cases for the period… that’s why I’m interested :) Warbler dials were swapped around very much and not many people are aware of this when looking at an original dial in an original case….
@@vintagewatchstreet45 HI, I just bought one September 1969 watch and also has the ¨swiss¨ at 6 O clock. Have you seen this dial before? Everything seems legit, except that and the lugs do not appear to be solid, they look like they are made of brass.
I hope you are only talking about this specific Hamilton. The mil-w-46374B was available with fixed bars or normal spring bars, as the benrus dtu had them... It also had Hamilton engraved in the case back and the case back was screwed on. Even with watches from 1981. It had a cheaper 7jewel movement. I find it very nice to see a video like yours. But you should also take the other iterations of these watches into perspective... By saying fake, you actually mean “Frankenwatches” in many cases. Can you also make a video about the h3 (Tritium gas) marked dials and about the benrus dtu? Greetings from Germany
Oh yes there are many very important details between the similar models! This video covered one model and it was rather long so adding more models might deserve a video Of their own! Thanks for joining the discussion!
Sons bought me a Steve McQueen merchandise gg113 and in fairness it hasn’t missed a beat . I love it but my sons did buy it for me 😀 . Great video super information. Thank you .
I sometimes see GG-W-113's with bands that appear to use spring bars. Are there 2 piece bands that would work with these watches or are the ones I'm talking about fakes?
There are about 12 main kinds of warblers (types like the gg, including the gg) and some use spring bars …. The original GG should be fixed bars. They do make 2 piece straps for fixed bars. Many gg have had their fixed bars broken so spring bars are needed.
There is no set prescribed time of use. That said, it’s predecessors were made as disposable, however the new generations from the 80s have screwback cases that encourage servicing and longer use.
It’s growing more and more … even with the cheapest Seiko machines, I’m seeing copied Chinese parts being used to repair them now… and the bad news is that only after a period of weeks or months, the watches have problems…
I hear the original GG-W-113 glass is no longer available, and replacements don’t keep the clockwork in place very well. Where do I obtain the next best crystal for these watches - any ideas?
Yes that’s right the original crystals are becoming less and less common! Im sorry don’t have a source to recommend for replacement crystals that are similar, as you know these are pressure fit and hard to replace. Good luck getting a nice one!
Hello. I just bought a 1987 GG W 113 and I can't push the crown all the way in. Its in the position where I can wind it, and I can pull it out to the setting/hacking position. However, I can't push the crown in to be flush with the case like most other watches. Is this normal?
Perhaps the stem just needs to be filed down to make it shorter. It might be a replacement stem as many of those split stems have been worn out over the years and replaced.
Brilliant video- thanks for the content. Ive just ordered a GG 113. I got my fingers crossed but it meets your criteria so far
Best of luck!

Brilliant thank you. Saw one on eBay completely fake, only because of your video was I able to see this. Great narration and advice. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for your kind message!! Glad I could help! Lukas

“Imposters” I really like that description! That’s a fair term and damn accurate if I might add!

Thanks for your viewing and your kind words. I may certainly make on such video for benrus.... good idea!

Unfortunately I don’t have any of those in my collection… perhaps I could locate some photos and prepare such a video still… Mmm 🤔
Thank you for this very informative video, apparently there are many fake versions of this watch available online!....
That’s precisely why I could not leave this video unmade…. It’s sad to see emails from
People showing me their fake gg watches… we have to stop it :)
Thanks for this details to spot a fakeone!

This place has great watches , I bought 2 for myself and bought one as a gift which were delivered quickly.
Hey Mr K, thanks a lot for letting me know your pieces arrived!!!! Thanks again so much for you order! Lukas
so if the fed stock number does not have dashes its for sure 100% fake?
Not 100% true for every GG. It depends on the year the case was made. The GG went through some changes from the 60s to the 80s….
The dials also changed through the years, not only the cases….
Thanks uncle Luke!!

@@vintagewatchstreet45 Plenty of examples on Google for you to have a look at. Keep up the good work!

Ohhhh the SM is such a nice one! :)
I'm gonna go with the one to the left of... Thanks.
I really want one but I can’t seem to find one in good condition or for a reasonable price
Yes it’s becoming harder and harder! I know! And it’s going to continue that direction for a very long time to come!
Where can I find the fake one to buy?
The fake ones won’t run long and can’t be repaired as the parts are Chinese made and not easily available.

Ils there a place to find somes real replacement parts? Hands set, fixed lugs, .. ? Is it possible to put them original back again? Regards
It is very hard to find hands, crowns and crystals for this model as it was a work Watch.
@@vintagewatchstreet45 I already have a plenty of crystal, they are easy to get on Ebay but for the stem, hands and crown, I agree
Oh … nice to find those original hard pressure fit crystals for this model :)
If a soldier was issued a Hamilton H3 in 1982 how long would the army have expected to use the watch for?
There is no set prescribed time of use. That said, it’s predecessors were made as disposable, however the new generations from the 80s have screwback cases that encourage servicing and longer use.
I wish counterfeiters would just stick to luxury brands. We shouldn't be having to worry about this crap at this price range.

Woohoo - That significant price I paid was worth it - I seem to possess a real 1982 H GG-W-113 .. Thanks VWS .. 🐏
Sounds like you made a good informed decision! Congrats on the purchase ;)
grazie mille!!!
Thank you for your kind words!!!
I know i'm late to the party, put i'm going to guess 5 of them are real.

Shame on these fakers all of my Hamiltons are very real
And they know they are selling fake pieces …
Fucking watch!
Oh yes the GG is one hell of a Watch! A classic indeed! Keep one of you have one because the prices for minty ones is increasing very fast! ~Lukas
