I knew the Queen would know right away what that Tracing Wheel was!! Sign Painters also used them to transfer designs!!☻
Thanks RoadKing!
Great video and the best buy the Stanley 299 👍 Thanks for sharing your time 🍺🍺👍👍
Thanks Brian! I got a toolbox haul video coming up this weekend!
Aaah, those Avon aftershave containers brought back memories. 😊
Somehow I am starting to build up a collection of them...
My guess is the 1st tool is for leather work. I believe it makes a starter hole and provides consistent spacing for items to be stitched together.
Good guess David, but it is for sewing.
I would have bet money on your leather tool guess but I reckon we are both wrong. 🤷♂️
@@onionhead5780 Leather Pricking Wheel for marking out holes 3 mm apart - for hand stitching. Has sharp spikes for marking the leather.
The leather stitch markers are usually farther spaced like 6-8 stitches/inch
Loved the video.! The pounce wheel is also used by sign painters for tracing patterns on sign layouts. Patterns are layed on the wood or metal, and powder or charcoal is rubbed across the holes leaving the design behind to be painted. I worked for several sign painters back in the day.!
Thanks Kevin! 805RoadKing also mentioned they were used by sign painters.
Correct Kevin. There is also the electric perferator for signage work. 🇺🇸🍺
MD357...it's a 'pounce wheel" it allows you to re-use paper patterns you trace the pattern then...pounce on it with a sock full of colored powder...can be used in several types of applications...You are the Man!!! Ms Mag Dad is pretty Smart also!!!
Watched my mom use one for years...she made all my school clothes...👍👍👍😎😁 0:58
You got it Big Jim!👍
Liked those pocket knives & adjustable wrenches.
Thanks! I'm glad you like what I brought home!
I've been obsessed with pocket knives lately, but those little pipe wrenches are pretty cool.
Old pocket knives are cool! You could almost EDC that 6" pipe wrench!
Some great finds there Magdad, think my favourite was the new screw holding screwdriver......look what you've started! Your collection is looking great 👍👍👍👍🇺🇸🇬🇧✌️
Thanks Phil! My collection is outgrowing my display wall!
Great finds. Love the oil container.😊
Thanks Rick! Chuck is excited about polishing the brass!
My favorite was a toss up between the Miller's falls screw holder and the cast iron Stanley. 😊
If you haven't watched it, check out my Stanley 1299 video:
th-cam.com/video/C9K75fgou6A/w-d-xo.html
That's a top of the line Pattern Tracer..........Millers Falls Screwdrivers are my favorites.
I'm itchin' to see how nice I can get the dark red handles!
Some fantastic finds there mate. I can see Chuck’s bald eagle heritage in the feet. He definitely has the eagle feet.😂
You're right! Eagle feet!
Great finds! That Property of US Government mechanical pencil brings back memories. My father worked for the U.S. Army as a civilian and always had those pencils...
Thanks Drew! I like those classic Scripto mechanical pencils!
I have a Stanley 1299 utility knife exactly like the one you show. Almost same exact condition. It was my wife's grandfather's knife. I use it as my "daily" utility knife. I never met him, but I met her grandmother. I think of them every time I use it.
It's great that you have something that's been in the family so long!
Neat stuff! Can't wait to see the small screwdriver done. Thanks for sharing
Thanks! I've got a plan for that little guy....
Great looking haul Magdad! My mom had a pattern tracer too so it looked familiar. I like the brass oil can the best. I use to see that version at work. Thanks for sharing this.
Thanks John!
Mrpete222 has a great video on the oiler dissassembly and repair...helps with figuring out orientation of the innards...also, that imperial knife, the scales have off-gassed, as is evident by the rust line on the blade, impossible to stop, and it will ruin any knife near it if left very long. Great finds!!
Check out my Eagle oiler video:

@@357magdadoops...wasn't aware you had made one...
That is a great collection. The Millers Falls screw holding screwdrivers is cool. The Bald Eagle is the best. 👍
Thanks Robert!🦅
You got some really great stuff. Love that little tack puller. I will have to keep my eyes open for one of those. Thanks so much for sharing. Have a good one.
It's fun hunting for treasures at the flea market!
Hi Magdad , Some Good Projects There. Knives Are Hard To Come By Cheap I Agree. My Favorite Maybe the Oil Can . I Bet You Can Get It Working. Probably Just Needs Cleaning It's Probably Clogged up .
I hope so Wayne!
Nice little haul Magdad. I think my favorite finds were the screwdrivers.....all of them😂 i too am a fan of wood handled screwdrivers. They're just so comfortable and satisfying to use. There might be a little resemblance in the beaks of Chuck and the eagle 😂
I was working on a wood handle screwdriver project this weekend!
Now that’s what I call shopping for treasures.👍🇺🇸
I'm lucky to have a good flea market close by that I can visit often.
Those are some great finds! Pocket knives are always my favorite!!
Thanks Mike! I was working on a pocket knife today...
Nice Finds the first tool for leatherwork
Close...
🦇🦇🦇love that Bullet Pencil with the badge🦇🦇🦇 Good Stuff!!
Thanks Vic! I look for bullet pencils at every sale!
Like the screwdrivers and knives. Looking forward to the restorations.
Thanks Larry! I've got a screwdriver and a knife project coming soon!
At first I thought the pattern tracer was for marking leather for stitching - now I know what a pattern tracer is. Lots of good stuff there! Thanks for posting MagDad!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Nice find’s Magdad!
You have so many great items it’s hard to pick just one 😩
However I’m going to say the oiler.
Thank You for sharing!!
Thanks Jack! I hope I can get the oiler un-stuck!
The first thing I thought with the mystery tool: Mrs Magdad knows what that is! I think you had some great finds there. The tack puller must be my favorite. Also the real perfect handle is a gem.
Thanks Alex! I was happy to find a clear HD Smith marking on the big PH screwdriver!
I sure Mrs Magdad Rolled her Eyes in Approval and Appreciation at your Artistic sense regarding the Awesome Eagle
Exactly!🙄
I remember my mom used to one of those for the patterns that she was making I think all your tools were a great Vine thank you for the video
I found another one of those pattern tracers this weekend!
Nice finds!
Thanks!
Nice collection of real finds. I'm looking forward to seeing the restorations!
Thanks Steve! I got a restoration project coming up next week that I think you'll enjoy!
Ooohh, so many great finds! Can't pick a single favorite, but would love to see restoration on these: 16" PH screwdriver (what a beauty!); seized Ridgid offset pipe wrench; Stanley 1299 utility knife; and the copper and brass bullet pencil.
I carry a folding utility knife in my back pocket every day. It's my workhorse tool and I feel nekkid without it. So i have a soft spot in my heart for all the utility knives you rescue from the $1.00 tables.
And yes, I immediately knew what the mystery tool was. Lol!
Thanks April! I'm glad you like the gems I brought home! I carry a Barlow pocket knife everyday!
I knew what the first idem was when i saw it. It is called how can you destroy your parent's furniture in one easy step LOL, My God that brought back memories seeing my mother using the patten wheel. Tracing paper pattens making clothing. Great finds at the Flea Market my favorites where the miller's falls screwdriver's ... Take care. enjoy your Sunday. Looking forward to next Sunday's video
Thanks Roger! I'm glad the pattern wheel brought back good memories for you!
Great haul Magdad, looking forward to the restorations. I particularly like the large perfect handle screwdriver, and also both the Millers Falls screwdrivers hoping you can bring them back and brighten up those red handles ! The pattern tracer should be an excellent project too, the holy trinity !
Thanks Andy! They all should be fun projects!
Some good finds MagDad! The perfect handle screwdrivers and offset pipe wrench caught my eye. Can't wait to see what you do with those goodies!
The rusty pipe wrench should be a good challenge for the "magic juice"!
I recognized the sewing tool. My favorites were the miller's falls screwdrivers and the small bent rigid pipe wrench.
Thanks Hal! It's gonna be fun un-bending that wrench!
Good video! My favorite is the eagle! Always knew Chuck was a noble bird! Thanks
Thanks Tony! Chuck thinks he's royalty!
Greetings. New sub from Pennsylvania. Your finds look like my basement😂 I worked for an auctioneer for a few years and ended up with lots of vintage hand tools and a bunch of other items. I even have an original movie poster from a Bogart Movie
Welcome to the channel! I hope you enjoy my content!
Flea markets always something somewhere...it's the searching that attracts...🖖
You never know what you'll find at the next sale!
The resemblance may be in the eyes. I like the oil can and the perfect handle screwdriver. The bullet pencils are nice tool I remember seeing them over the years but not here lately. Good finds.
Thanks Dale! Those bullet pencils are hard to find in my area too!
On a set of spurs the old cowboys wore, the pointy wheel is called a “rowel”. I would assume the same word could apply to the pattern tracer.
I've seen it referred to as a pattern tracer, dart wheel and pounce wheel.
I like the two pipe wrenches, especially the offset one. Can't wait to see the Magdad treatment on them, though you're going to need a lot of Magdad muscle to straighten the small one. My wife knew that the wheeled pokey thing was for patterns because her mom had one. I'm surprised that you didn't have any millers falls screwdrivers. I've found several around Pittsburgh here.. I also have two of those Barcolo tack pullers. they come in handy! just used one yesterday. 🙂
Next week's video will feature some "Magdad Muscle"!💪
The mystery thingy is a tracing paper wheel for tracing patterns on material for sewing. If not that then it’s a marking tool for leather work. All the ones I have seen don’t have such sharp and long pointy thing on the so I think it may be a marking tool for leather for that reason. To maybe mark where to put the awl through to hand stitch.
Your first guess was right Gayle!
My favorite is probably the skull and Eagle. Those govt. pens and pencils are all over where I live, in the suburb of DC. Those Avon bottles are cool collectibles. Being a Vol. firefighter I have a few, fire hydrant. ladder truck, alarm box, etc. They were all empty when I got them but they still have the aroma. Those old folding knives are cool. heck, all that stuff are keepers. Nice video.
Thanks Mike! I'm glad you liked the gems I brought home!
I enjoyed the bullet pencils. I have a few, myself.
Thanks Larry! Check out my bullet pencil video:
th-cam.com/video/PytomYADfOE/w-d-xo.html
Fyi case red tractor paint from your local tractor store does a very good job looking like the original paint on pipe wrenches i found one in the field behind my old house and decided to restore it and that paint did a phenomenal job getting as close as i could see to original
Thanks! I've read that Chevy engine orange is close too. I think Rigid has used different shades over the years.
@357magdad working at an autoparts store that engine enamel chevy orange is pretty good and you can bake it in scoutcrafter style and really set it up for ctrength
The offset Rigids are useful for hydraulic fittings on commercial trucks. I have a couple of the bigger sizes. I'll keep looking for the small one.AL B.
Thanks for watching!
Interesting finds.
I have a pattern tracer. I did not know the name before. Good to learn something. I also picked mine up a flea market. I was thinking it may work as a texturing tool for wood turning. Not good for such use.
I love the oil can. I do not need more oil cans, but sometimes cannot resist. I would have picked up this one.
Dave.
Thanks Dave! I hope I can get that oiler un-stuck!
the first tool is for leather, not fabric or paper patterns. The teeth are far too aggressive - a seamstress/ leather worker just confirmed this!
Nope, it's a ponce or pattern wheel for transferring sewing patterns. They also make "dull" ones for use with transfer paper.
Good point. If you don’t like auto wrenches you are a sick individual. Nice haul!
That's a cool collection. I like the oiler. I have a number of Barcalo tools but have never seen a tack puller. The genuine Perfect screwdriver is also nice. My guess on the pattern tracer was wrong. I thought it might be for leather working.
Thanks Pat! There have been a lot of leather working guesses.
Man lots of cool stuff there, where to start. I'll tell you I did pass up an auto wrench this week end. I have so many figured Id leave it for the next guy, lol. That brass oiler, Eagle or not its a beautiful oiler. Luckily its all brass, should shine up nicely.
I know what you mean - I've got a drawer full of auto wrenches!
I reckon the spinning pokey wheel tool is for pattern making for dressmakers. I reckon my mum had one
Yep!👍
I like the brass oil can.
Me too!
The proper name for your miniature spur is a pounce wheel. And i believe those old wooden-handled screwdrivers were called turnscrews.
Pounce wheel, pattern wheel or dart wheel. Turnscrews usually refer to screwdrivers with blades made of flat steel rather than round.
That tool at the start, I think I have heard that referred to as a pounce wheel, I have seen this type of tool used by leather crafters to lay out stitching line hole placements on leather, may be wrong but its my story and I’m stricken to it.😊😊 My favorite piece was the skull with the eagle on it, and yes my wife would have rolled her eyes also.😂
Thanks Terry! Mrs Magdad actually has a modern version of that wheel in her sewing room.
I liked the cast iron stanly knife
I've got a couple cast iron utility knife projects:
th-cam.com/video/C9K75fgou6A/w-d-xo.html
th-cam.com/video/A_JyDqBudD8/w-d-xo.html
It's a pouncing wheel. Can transfer patterns using paper and colored powder....
Bingo!👍
The two number stamp on the 50 cal. is the year of manufacture. the other stamp is a code for the maker.
Thanks for the info Patrick! It's got a 41, so 1941?
My mother had a pattern wheel, she accused me of ruining the side of her sewing machine cabinet by rolling it over the surface while I sat there and watched tv….could be she was correct! Cool video!
I can see a young Magdad getting in trouble with one of those too!
I am a fan of the Perfect Handle type screwdrivers. I am yet to find any myself.
I've got a bunch - shoot me an email...

I will do that.
Great finds! The eagle is cool and I totally see the resemblance! The brass oil can looks a little too nice to be very old. Since it has no marks, do you think it could be a reproduction from the 80's or something???
I'm always suspicious when an item has no markings.
A dress pattern marker 🙂
You got it Michael!👍
I have a few different variations of pattern wheels. Some mark stitching very well (I do a lot of smaller leather work, with tighter stitching). The bent pipe wrench haad to have seen a big ole cheater pipe over the handle to bend it like that!! I love Perfect Handle drivers. I want to build a modern one that takes standard 1/4 inch bits.
My friend Dave made a perfect handle bit driver for my charity auction. It came out great!
That eagle would have come home with me, too!
Thanks Mark! I though it was a no-brainer, but Mrs Magdad thought I was nuts!
the first with the poky thing look like a dressing tool for grinding wheels.
Good guess, but no.
I really like that bullet pencil from the capitol!😮 Who knows whos hands may have held that item? They just don't make stuff like that now a days😢
I wish they still made advertising bullet pencils!
I think the first tool that the Missus recognized is for zipper work. Nice video. What kind of maniac does not like a flea market. Where else can you get fleas?
Rats....Rong Again. Great video.
You were close!
Got some cool bullet pencils
Thanks Larry! I wish I could get new ones made with "357magdad"!
The no. 66 oiler is my favorite, genuine or not.
Thanks Kirk!
I collect the ridged pipe wrenches, I have been looking for those 2 for a few years!! How much did you pay for them?
Thanks for watching! I think I paid a dollar or two each.
I grew up in DC. Every pencil or pen I borrowed in school said “Property of US Government “
I've got two of them now. I like the thicker lead in them.
I like the brass oil can. Looking forward to seeing you bang those dents out.
Me too!
First item is also called a ponce wheel.
You got it!👍
Missed off the ?. Apologies. Was asking if A leather working tool!
Make sure you watch the end of the video for the answer!
I can see Chuck in the eyes and nose.
He say's he's got eagle blood...
Pie crust crimper?
Nope! Good guess though...
Tools that stand the test of heavy use over time, certainly not our standard today.
Thanks for watching! Old tools are the best!

@@aussietiprat3193 Nope. It's a sewing tool called a tracing wheel, dart wheel or pounce wheel.

You got it!👍
What kind of maniac doesn’t like auto wrenches … too darn funny.
I try to have some fun with the haul videos..
Dress pattern marker.
You got it!👍
@@357magdad I refinished an antique table for a family a few years ago and it had tracks from one of those tools all over one particular area where the mother and daughters had been using it as a sewing table.
With the "right" cheater, no bend is impossible.🧐🤣
I've got a bent wrench project coming up next week...
First
Thanks for watching Paul!
The mystery tool was for leather working. It creates the holes in which you can run thread through easily.
You're close...
I'd say the bullet pencils are my fav. Especially the Capitol pencil. The PC/Woke cult of today would definitely frown upon a bullet pencil. 🧐🫡🇺🇸❤️ The oil can is also awesome, it may not be too old. Goldenrod oil cans made in Hastings Nebraska have no markings, just a sticker. Which the cutting oil I put in mine has take it right off!🤣
I wish I could get some 357magdad bullet pencils made up!
