  • There's nothing worse that making the effort to visit a place only to be let down by a piece of equipment. Unfortunately, a faulty memory card has prevented us showing you the beginning part of our adventure on Arran,
    Being photographers, we have data recovery software, but unfortunately, this data failure is irretrievable.
    Due to Arran only having a 57 miles 'ring road', it is very easy to see and experience a lot of different places in one day.

    Notice how brilliant white the Swans were on that beach, as there’s no pollution, compared to Swans located around towns and cities, that are a dirty, grey white.

    We are thinking of going to Arran sometime this year, and knowing that you have been to several of the islands, was wondering how you book the ferries. Do you book well in advance, or do you leave it until closer to the date that you want to go? To give yourselves more flexibility?
    Thanks.

    • @adventurevanfreddie
      @adventurevanfreddie  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi ya, many thanks for watching.
      With regards to your ferry query, we would normally take the risk and book a one way ticket a few days in advance of our chosen crossing, however, in the case of Arran, we just turned up at the ferry port and booked our crossing in the terminal; the only downside, we had to wait until the next morning to cross. We faced a different scenario on Mull. We wanted to get the ferry back to the mainland so popped into the ferry terminal to book a ferry, however, due to the amount of bookings, we had to wait 4 days to get back. If you are bound by time off work etc or it's the busier summer periods, we recommend booking a return ticket in advance. Online is easy and you can easily see future crossing availability. However, if you are not bound by time....take the risk and enjoy the adventure lol.
      Many thanks again and all the best. Tony and Claire. 👍💙❤️🚐🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

    • @adventurevanfreddie
      @adventurevanfreddie  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi there, many thanks for your kind words, glad you still enjoyed it.
      Yes, we've heard the same thing about wild camping all over Scotland for some time, however, having spoken to many locals on our travels and folks within this TH-cam community, I think it's down to the time of year when you visit these places. We never go to Scotland in the summer and much prefer late autumn/winter or early spring. When we visited Scotland a few years back in the summer, some parts were overwhelmed with motorhomes, campervans and cars.
      We've never had any problems/trouble wild camping out of season; we're sure most locals understand that we still help boost the economy over the quiet months. In short, avoid the holiday seasons. Many thanks again and all the very best, Tony and Claire.

      Hi there, many thanks for watching and for taking the time to leave the comment. You are absolutely right our friend, our 4 meter Fiama F45S hardly ever comes out and it is a weighty thing. The reason you don't see it out in our vids is that 90% of the time we just park up off grid and in the UK, it's very rare that it's that hot that you require shade. This said, in France and Spain, we've used it much more....but would I buy one now knowing how much we've used it????... Probably not buddy, especially as we have a drive away awning that we use on campsites. So in short, it depends if you predominantly use your van for off grid locations or on a campsite. If off grid, no,.... If on a campsite, get a proper awning. Ours is an Outdoor Revolution drive away. Hope this helps and all the very best, Tony and Claire.
