  • I introduce to you….. My New 72 Cheyenne C20 Longhorn Camper special. I previously rescued this truck 6 or so years ago. Made it a functioning Driver, then parted ways with it. But, jumped on the chance to get it back. Here I give a quick review and update on what it needs as of now and what plans for it are. Big thanks! To Matt, @okiebeanz for picking it up for me, Both times. And Jarrod @wjgreen1 for passing this find on to me years ago.

    For every long bed that's cut down, Cory loses a 1/4" off his shorts. #stopthechop :D

    I bought a 1972 longhorn with 32,000 miles on it in 2006 it’s like it just rolled off the factory floor. And I just bought a 1971 longhorn with a big block and Scot’s dale trim package it needs some love but yea I love these trucks. Beautiful truck you have.

      That awesome! I would love to see them. Mine in showing almost 60k on the odometer. It looks like it could be around that mileage. But have no way to prove it. These are some really good trucks. Thank you for watching!

    You have a great truck there man!! I like how you appreciate the long bed and use it for decent work. I have a 1972 C20 that was my Grandfather's that I want to get back into working shape again. It has the 4BBL Quadrajet in it that never seemed to run too well. I want to convert to an Edelbrock 650 but have never had good luck getting the kickdown cable reconnected properly when I go away from stock. How did you get that thing squared away? Any parts had to be purchased?

      Man, I’ve had several swb trucks and have grown tired of dropping the tailgate to haul everything thing. They look great though. That 72 is a good one to have, my kickdownis operated by a switch on the gas pedal.

      Oh man. They look pretty when cut down, you can sure utilize the truck part of it with 8 ft bed though. I’ve owned swb most of my life. The last few have been
      Long beds and have been really useful. I’ve really struggled with not ls swapping this truck. Lol

    Very nice Longhorn! The hole in the LH bed side is for the fill tube for the auxiliary tank that was most likely a factory option. Check the spid on the back of your glove box and it might be listed on there. It mounted to the bottom of the bed floor and there was a fill tube that went through the bed side and down through the bed floor just like a K5 Blazer. Also, all Longhorns had wood bed floors and the frames are 1 ton frames. Some buffing or clear like you said will have that truck looking sweet!

    • @corysgarage3928
      @corysgarage3928  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ll check that!!! I’m hoping to get it spruced up and make a nice cruiser! I really like the wood bed. Thank you for watching!

    Nothing like a Longhorn as they were made for cruising or working. I had one and sold it after a couple years. Wondering if the original tailgate is stored up in the garage rafters or somewhere else on the property where the truck came from. Most of the slide in Campers used on the Longhorns were 11.5 feet long so tailgates were removed when the truck was new and stored somewhere. I'm very glad you are preserving and using it as was intended. It should have 3:54 rear gears with the BB unless optional 4:10's which would show on the Spid but getting 11/12 MPG I'm certain it has the 3:54's.

      I would love to find a tailgate! As this one is long gone. This one does have the 3.54 gear. It cruise’s well as 65 mph. I’m pretty happy with this old truck. Thank you for watching! There will be plenty more work and cruising for this old truck!

    Nice truck! I have 70 gmc c20.
    What size tire did you end up coing with? Haveing the same issue.

      Thanks man! I used the ford 8 lug ford steel wheels, with the 235/85/16 e rated tire. They are 31 inches tall. It’s as close as I could get to make it look factory. What’s the details on your truck?

    • @chadhoffman1102
      @chadhoffman1102 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@corysgarage3928 70 gmc c20 big block turbo 400. Long bed. Edelbrock carb intake and cam. 70's headman long tubes with some generic catalog exhaust. Otherwise pretty original.
      Thanks for the info and reply

      Mine was a 70 Chevy longhorn it came with the 2 peace 16.5 split rims and I’m not sure but I think it had 9.50 /16.5 Mohawk mud lugs on the back and road tread on the front
