What's great about your videos John, is that with you I'm always feeling myself in the action. Here again, what can I say more than thank you so much to share with us your passion about one of the greatest job in the world and all the respect you have for those man and woman firefighters who serve our community for a safer life. Yes my dear friend, thumps up!
Gilles Renaud WELL, THANKS SO MUCH MY GOOD FRIEND GILLES FOR THOSE KIND AND UPLIFTING WORDS! I HAVE THE UTMOST RESPECT FOR THE FDNY AND ALL FIREFIGHTERS AND EMERGENCY SERVICES AROUND THE WORLD! THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TOO MY FRIEND! GOD BLESS YOU ALL! ;o)
Thanks again. What a massive fire! Beautiful home. Kinda reminds us, No matter who we are, what we have or our financial worth, it can all be taken away in a moment. God's blessings to all firefighter, ems, police and you, John. You are the best! Everyone stay safe.
It's amazing how little that fire spread. That's old construction for you. If this were a new construction fire the entire building would have been gone in the first 10 minutes.
I've read every comment in here. This is the best. From his arrival at around 2min in, the structural members of the attic or 3rd floor roof were already burning (light-med brown smoke) on mostly bravo and charlie sides. They burned until at least the 10 minute mark plus. In So. Cal, I'd be looking at that with an incident clock every 5 minutes and I'd have been pulling my guys out for a transitional attack or screw it, even defensive. Everything in So Cal is lightweight truss construction and it would've failed rapidly under that heat. Kinda cool seeing the difference in construction under fire. Risk a lot to save a viable life, risk nothing to save property. Be safe.
@@danielkohler3458 I can't remember the exact number but in the academy I think they said like 7-10 or 10-15 minutes of direct exposure and those truss plates will start to pop. One instructor said the little triangular sign with the R doesn't just mean roof truss, it means run. LOL
Totally true. The house I grew up in was built in 1918. When we had a fire the firefighters said they couldn't believe how well the structure of the house held up to the amount of fire that was ripping thru it.
Another great video! I loved all the angles of the fire and the great shots of all the vehicles. That looked like a grand old neighborhood. I think a fire like that would have eaten up a house of modern construction materials.
Jenn Steele WELL, THANKS SO MUCH MY FRIEND JENN FOR ALL YOUR KIND WORDS AND SUPPORT ALWAYS! IT WA A GREAT OD NEIGHBORHOOD AND THE HOUSE WAS FANTASTIC! ALL THEY WILL NEED IS A NEW CEILING, WINDOWS AND FURNITURE! ANY NEWHOUSE WOULD HAVE BEEN GONE FOR SURE! ;o)
That's a kick ass shot J.J. If I did that out of a taxi in Cleveland, the driver and I both would be cited. It's a bullshit citation though, any attorney would know that.
John, This is actually the very first video of yours I watched years ago. As usual your coverage of this fire is spot on. Please stay safe while responding to runs in Squad 99 and also stay safe once you arrive at the scene of the incident you're covering.
People have to realize when it doesn't look like they are putting water on the fire that the crews are inside the building putting water on the fire from the inside. You can't spray water from the outside into the building when crews are inside the building.
Darryl Smith i understand what you are saying bit at the same time i think you are trying to say somethng mean to the crew and you should not. becase you know how much they have beeen through they lost a lot of freinds during 9-11they probilly had to pull out some of their friends. and you putting all kinds of negitive acitvity is never okay you need to give them a break. and relizie they have been through tranning and they know ecackly what they are doing
Another great video John! I have seen another version of this one. But you have the complete picture from all angles and you my friend just have a knack for these videos! Lovely older house always a shame to see this because somebody has suffered a great loss! I agree with previous post these new houses are gone in a matter of minutes compared to these fine older structures. Job well done by those awesome firefighters and yes God bless all the men & woman throughout the world that fight these fires and protect us all and our property from fire! Thank you John for all these videos you work at so hard to bring us to forefront of!!
Lynn Moore WELL, THANKS SO MUCH MY FRIEND LYNN! THAT OTHER VIDEOS IS MY FRIEND TJ'S! IT WAS SAD TO SEE THIS OLDER STRUCTURE GO UP LIKE THIS BUT IT WAS STILL STAND! ALL THEY WILL NEED IS A NEW ROOF, NEW WINDOWS AND NEW FURNITURE ANY NEW HOUSE WOULD HAVE BEEN GONE COMPLETELY! ALSO, THE WOMAN WHO LIVE THERE WAS ELDERLY AND AT A DOCTORS APPOINTMENT THANK GOD! LASTLY GOD BLESS THE FDNY AND ALL OF THE EMERGENCY SERVICES AROUND THE WORLD ALWAYS! THANK AGAIN LYNN;o)
Your channel is way better than LOUDLABS, your right there as the second it happens. Not that other channel where they record when it’s over, or when they’re putting their Equiptment back into their trucks and driving away. Good job bro.
Checked out a satellite map today and found this house. It was being rebuilt from the looks of it with the black wrap, like Typar, visible.glad to see it.
Ya know we all need to chip in and get you a designated driver so you can bring us full complete fire videos!! Your the best one out here that I've seen in all states! No one films from start to finish like you do. So we need to get you some assistant's to get you to where you need to be. I've run out of your video's :(
John another great job covering this fire. You are the only one I watch. I know sometimes I ask stupid questions but I am 70 old and sometimes dumb. Be safe my friend and keep up the great work. Ron
Thank you for stepping back to take a closeup of the field com truck, she’s a beauty! Glad to read they were able restore the house. Looks like a very nice area. How the other half lives, eh? 😉
A super job of videoagraphy. Probably some of the best I've seen in a long time! Great shots from all sides of the structure. Also a big thumbs up to FDNY for excellent team work and a rather quick knockdown.

What is the point of all the battalions? What is their role in the fire dept? And what is the difference in a Squad and an Engine, the trucks look similar.
Austin Pauley WELL, THE BATTALION CHIEFS ARE IN CHARGE OF THE ON SCENE OPERATIONS AND MAKE SURE THAT THE FIRE GETS PUT OUT QUICKLY WITH THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF FIREFIGHTERS WHEN POSSIBLE. THEY MAKE SURE THE FIREFIGHTERS ARE NOT IN ANY DANGER BY MONITORING AND ROTATING THEM! THEY HAVE MULTIPLE FUNCTIONS DURING A FIRE! AS FOR THE SQUAD, IT CARRIES EXTRA TOOLS THAT A ENGINE WOULD NOT. THE FIREFIGHTERS ON THE SQUAD HAVE A BIT MORE TRAINING THAN REGULAR FIREFIGHTERS AND DO A LOT MORE SPECIALISED CALLS THAN THE REGULAR ENGINE MEMBERS! THANKS SO MUCH MY FRIEND AUSTIN! ;o)
That's amazing that you caught the FDNY in action with that house fire in Queens. I am worried though. You suffered a bit of smoke inhalation as they both drowned and buried the fire with water and debris from the roof. Did you happen to have one of the FDNY EMS medics check you over from the smoke, or in the MRTU? Also, I saw that they had Satellite 4 respond as well, and I loved watching the two tower ladders drown the roof with water to bury the fire in debris, cutting off the oxygen supply. Did you see where they parked Satellite 4 at the scene of the blaze, or was it parked too far away, like the MERV 4 and some of the ambulances?
Erik Butterworth WELL, I WAS OK ERIK AND NO, I DID NOT NEED ANY MEDICAL ATTENTION. PLUS I WOULD NOT GO TO THE MRTU AS I "AM NOT" A FIREFIGHTER. I DID NOT SEE WHERE THEY PARKED THE SATELLITE TRUCK! THANKS SO MUCH MY FRIEND! ;o)
I see that you were in one of those special Green Cabs of New York think I read about what the difference is between the regular yellow cabs and these green ones, think it was the locations that these green ones go that the Yellow ones don't, is this correct?????
One of the big signs of how well built those structures were built was about I think 29:30 that top level took a lot of heavy fire and a beating from the tower ladder, but the one beam was still strong enough to hold a ladder against it.
Merican Badaz WELL, "NO I DO NOT WORK FOR THE FDNY AND I HAVE NEVER WORKED FOR THEM EVER EITHER"..... I JUST AM A SIMPLY FIRE BUFF WHO LIKES FILMING STUFF! THANKS SO MUCH MY FRIEND! ;o)
Hahaha. So John how was it getting sprayed? It gave me a chuckle seeing the plunge of water incoming, and you attempting to duck behind the wall at the last second. It's all good though. This is what being right in the action is all about eventually everyone who is good with their videography is going to get sprayed at least once.
are all the windows vented ?? good idea ?? at 837 no water being sprayed on inside,, could have been putting some wet stuff on the red stuff ,, us arm chair FF always want to see water on the fire
John, you're crazy.. First by "responding" in a car service car and sticking your head an camera out the window but I have to give you credit as being very creative. I know you want to get the best video possible at the scene but you need to slow down as you can tell you're definitely out of breath walking up the block to the fire building. Second you know it's a good job when you hear the fire "talking" at around the 8:30 mark with all of the crackling when it's showing through the roof. As always, fantastic video brother.. Be safe out there.
HandiTalkie WELL, THANKS FOR YOUR GREAT COMMENT AND CONCERN! AS FOR THE CREATIVITY I AM ALWAYS TRYING TO REINVENT MYSELF FOR YOUR GUYS! AS FOR THE CAB, THAT WAS THE LEAST I CAN DO WHILE WAITING FOR TRAFFIC! I DO NEED TO SLOW DOWN A BIT FOR SURE! YES, I AGREE THAT AT THE 8:30 MARK IT WAS COOL INDEED AS FAR AS FIRES GO! I HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN ABOUT OUR CONVERSATION BUT I WILL LET YOU KNOW IF I NEED YOUR SERVICE ONE DAY. I AM THINKING ABOUT IT! THANKS SO MUCH MY FRIEND! ;o)
I wonder if the majority of calls FDNY goes on are fires. For my town, I live in South Farms area and we're served by the South Fire District. They usually get more medical calls, just saying.
JJ... Two questions: Are the striped centers of the roads for the exclusive use of emergency vehicles? (Out here, in the West, we'd make them two-way turn lanes! ;-)) Secondly, Dang! do you have to take taxis out on your fire calls?? Be safe my man! Ed
What's great about your videos John, is that with you I'm always feeling myself in the action.
THANKS SO MUCH MY FRIEND! ;o)
*****
Alright. Glad you're okay, and thanks for the info! I did not know that the MRTU was for FDNY personnel only. Thanks for the heads up. :o)
Erik Butterworth THANKS AND OF COURSE IF I WAS BADLY INJURED THEY WOULD TREAT ME BUT THAT IS WHAT THE MERV IS FOR! HEHEHE! THANKS ERIK! ;o)
*****
No problem! :o)
I see that you were in one of those special Green Cabs of New York think I read about what the difference is between the regular yellow cabs and these green ones, think it was the locations that these green ones go that the Yellow ones don't, is this correct?????
Andrew Silva YES INDEED ANDREW! THE YELLOW ONES ARE FOR MANHATTAN AND THE GREEN ONES FOR THE 4 OTHER BOROUGHS! THANKS SO MUCH MY FRIEND! ;o)
One of the big signs of how well built those structures were built was about I think 29:30 that top level took a lot of heavy fire and a beating from the tower ladder, but the one beam was still strong enough to hold a ladder against it.
YES, I NOTICED THAT TOO MIKE! THANKS SO MUCH.....
Love the video John good job
lupe castillo THANKS SO MUCH MY FRIEND! ;o)
Another awesome vid my friend. But what are the three guys doing with the boards at 21:04?

excellent footage
THANKS SO MUCH MY FRIEND! ;o)
Hahaha. So John how was it getting sprayed? It gave me a chuckle seeing the plunge of water incoming, and you attempting to duck behind the wall at the last second. It's all good though. This is what being right in the action is all about eventually everyone who is good with their videography is going to get sprayed at least once.
IT WAS A BIT SCARY AT FIRST BUT I SURELY LEARNED A FEW LIFE LONG LESSONS.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
Awesome! Take a respirator filter mask with you from now on, ok? Thanks!
+David G OK!, I WILL DAVID! THANKS SO MUCH MY FRIEND! ;o)
are all the windows vented ?? good idea ?? at 837 no water being sprayed on inside,, could have been putting some wet stuff on the red stuff ,, us arm chair FF always want to see water on the fire

That was a beautiful house.
schnitzjr IT WAS INDEED! TOO BAD THOUGH! THANKS SO MUCH MY FRIEND! ;o)
That's some really beautiful property out there. Wonder how much it costs to live out there? Probably a million & six, I'd imagine!
IDK BUT A LOT I AM GUESSING.....
is it a rule for all firefighters to respond to fires in 6 minutes?
OK!
An amazing on scene video, John! Great work! Keep it up!
LucianVideoEEV THANKS SO MUCH MY FRIEND! ;o)
Watt a fire john nice video
sven pieters THANKS SO MUCH MY FRIEND! ;o)
THANKS SO MUCH MY FRIEND! ;o)
I know I'm late but I'm also curious...any idea how this started?
NO...
@@THEMAJESTIRIUM1 OKAY...THANKS ANYWAYS!!! Did we forget our hearing aide this morning? I think I got mine in.

Gábor Andrejszki THANKS SO MUCH MY FRIEND GABOR! ;o)
Primary and secondary searches for people were being conducted. Big house...it takes time. Classy neighborhood in The Big Q gets a mega response.

You produce awesome Videos!
THANKS SO MUCH MY FRIEND DANIELLE! ;o)
I wonder if the majority of calls FDNY goes on are fires. For my town, I live in South Farms area and we're served by the South Fire District. They usually get more medical calls, just saying.
THEY A LOT OF BOTH HERE! THANKS SO MUCH! ;o)
NYC's water tastes terrible, but it sure does knock down a fire.

NO AND THANKS! ;o)
JJ...
Two questions: Are the striped centers of the roads for the exclusive use of emergency vehicles? (Out here, in the West, we'd make them two-way turn lanes! ;-))
Secondly, Dang! do you have to take taxis out on your fire calls??
Be safe my man!
Ed
1) THOSE STRIPS ARE NOT FOR EMERGENCY SERVICES, AND 02) I TAKE CABS ONLY WHEN NECESSARY! THANKS SO MUCH MY FRIEND ED! ;o)
JJ
Thanks for the info, my long-distance friend.
