That looked like something from a horror movie, and the silence afterwards was just eerie. Amazing work capturing this on video. God bless our Heros that go into any fire without question. They are truly brave.
I remember when I was about 12 there was a major church fire where I lived at the time. Massive steeple and huge bell inside. Super old all wooden structure. Went up like and actual Christmas tree does. I think it was about 20 years ago now. Watched it for a long time. They managed to save the bell and it’s inside the new church today.
There is always that fireman who's lighten up my day. In this flm he comes in at 16.44, when a group man dragging a hose enters the frame and 1 man is walking wiyhout the hose with his hand on the ohers shoulder. 😅😇
So it started in an apartment and spread to the church. That answers an earlier question. Thanks. Keep up the great work, guys! And, Happy Christmas to all members of NYPD and FDNY!
If someone can answer me. I've watched a lot Of vidéos and I Wonder why they're waiting so long to put some water. Maybe there's an explanation. Thanks you. Great videos
Sad for the church. Extreme heat from the apartment building ablaze caused it to combust. That apartment building was vacated after a fire earlier in the year and was being repaired. Electricals in the 1st floor restaurant are thought to be the cause of the 2nd fire which gutted the apartment building and the historic Middle Collegiate Church.
I have watched several videos of this fire. What took the firefighters so long to get equipment into place and to get water to this fire? It also seemed there was no protection for the church to keep it from going up?? I know I wasn't there but I see a pattern that a fire has to get out of control before major action is taken. The damage could be alot less at times. Other times this department is spot on. I guess it is who's in command?? Great video coverage here on this tragedy. Stay safe out there. P.S. I'm not trying not trying to be a know it all, I'm just asking questions from what I see.
We got there and there was a building completely engulfed so that's where we start working. We had water on that fire as soon as we got there and trucks evacuating smoke filled exposures full of people sleeping in their beds still. Church was already smoking and ready to go up when we got there but you gotta start in the fully involved building when you get to it.
@@shelbymccoy3936 I work at ladder 9, the first due truck, and was on the can for this job. You're going to try to tell me how quick the response was?? 😂
Not being an expert I'm left scratching my head as to the abundance of equipment and personnel wandering around, compared to how little actual water is applied to the fire. Is it just no great rush cuz it's already too far gone? Wouldn't protecting adjacent properties be a priority then?
Where is the water ? Why does everyone just stand around with no WATER FLOWING ...no sense of urgency ...i dont understand ...its like they let it burn for awhile ...
Awful loss of life. How can the EMS Chief not come prepared to answer basic questions about the fatality? He needs to be more informed before stepping up.
News stories I could find state the fire started in a vacant 5 story next to the historic Middle Collegiate Church. Dec 5 2020. It was under repair from a previous fire earlier in 2020 and tenants were told to move. It's been somewhat inconclusive but investigations point to an electrical origin in the restaurant on the first floor.
This video without doubt make the badass firefighters in this department cringe. The leadership is to blame 100%. With the amount of manpower, millions of dollars of 1st class gear and academy FDNY prides them self’s on. One would think we would know how to operate a ground monitor without chiefs input. What’s that chief the red lights not on fire? Roger.
Pro-active leadership and fireground management, along with 6-alarms worth of badass FDNY members, saved the 6 surrounding buildings including the interconnected rectory to the church, in addition to the non-fireproof tenements down wind that were being inundated and covered by flying brands. The original fire building was under renovations from a previous three alarm fire and had openings throughout the entire structure. It was fully involved upon arrival. That building was a loss way before the department's arrival (how do I know? Unlike you, I have seen the security footage from across the street which shows the fire's progression from start through the FDNY's arrival). The loss of the church was extremely unfortunate and sad. However, and what you obviously do not know, is that the badass firefighters who forced entry, entered to search, and stretched a charged hoseline into that church were driven out by a flashover and ceiling/roof collapse within minutes of their arrival. Oh yeah, that chief who you said was instructing the firefighters on how to use the ground monitor? He was actually making sure they were aware and operating out of the collapse zone of the original fire building, the church facade, and the church steeple. But from your armchair and vast experience, that little thought obviously never entered your brain. If you're ever in a leadership position, I hope you can accomplish one-quarter of what the FDNY did at this fire.
Incredible footage. It feels like I am actually there and can smell the the fumes and feel the heat from the fire. Excellent job, Adam. Thank you.

I have never seen flames coming out of the windows like that - humbling.
"TOP SHELF" ! GREAT WORK LOUD LAB , AS ALWAYS ! WE THANK YOU ! 🇺🇲
Wow! That's a wild scene Adam! Great get!

That is either the company officer.Or senior man guiding a proby firefighter into a safe position
Alot of churches have decades old varnished woodwork inside. That material as you can see goes up like an oil refinery blaze!
So it started in an apartment and spread to the church. That answers an earlier question. Thanks. Keep up the great work, guys! And, Happy Christmas to all members of NYPD and FDNY!
Wow! As long as you have good water keep adding master streams!
Wow. That was a rapidly growing fire. It took out the first building in no time and now the church.
Again ' Great Vid
Great video footage LLN NY
Great video, thanks.
WHAT?! At the10:40 mark, there is a FDNY member videoing the fire holding an umbrella. Do they supply umbrellas on rainy days?
If someone can answer me. I've watched a lot Of vidéos and I Wonder why they're waiting so long to put some water. Maybe there's an explanation. Thanks you.

Wow .
What was/is the name of the church please?

Your not the first nor the last to question FDNYs tactics from an analytical point of view. Nothing wrong with that.

@@albertbravo1716 I hear you but I'm not sure the response was as quick as you say. It really doesn't matter now. What's burned and gone is gone.

@@albertbravo1716 Hes out of here
wasnt that building empty from another fire earlier in the year?
Good work video, and FDNY.
I don’t understand with fire such as, they don’t utilize one or two of the Satellite’s. Those big Stang nozzle throw a lot of water??
That one ladder! Don’t forget to turn it over so it cooks on the other side!
Why dose is take so long to get water flowing through their tower ladders
What do you do when thjere just isnt enough water
Those Regular ladder trucks are useless at least have your trucks with a Pre-pipe intake ready to receive water 😂
I live in Next to that street and i smelled the smoke...
Lolll depending on the wind people 40 blocks away smelled it
And I can ride My bike and I can count to feew

Feel free to apply if you know you can do a better job.

I asked a question ahole… get back in mommy’s basement. The incel chat group is about to come on-line.
Was this the Serbian Orthodox church?
Ladder 3 knows how to open up....EVERYONE watch and learn !!!!!
Get out of the Firefighters way and let them do their job.
It is to bad that this fire got to the church .
Where is the water ?

Where's the super pumper?
Was this arson? It seems that fire spread fast!
Where are the super pumpers
I think the rain helped putting out the fire
I know it wasn't, but right from the git go it looked like a scene from a disaster movie. 'Cept the disaster was for real.
What the woman at 35:20 Laura
Why are So many Churches, catching fire?
the messiah shall become the christ ! and his name will ring hallowed upon entry into the gates of heaven !
Pompieres de 5 pieds 4 pouces 110 livres wow, en cas de sauvetage elles resteront sur le trottoir a prendre des photos
Man, that burned white hot.
That rear mount is useless. Make room for a Tower Ladder

Takes them forever to get water flowing....
I bet it started with.........

Very sad seeing the fire spread into the church.
HOLEY SMOKE
Decent footage but your bouncing around waaaayyy to much .. massive fire too unreal
So this is a second Church in a week starting to make a pattern
Not sure that really makes a pattern. Besides, the fire originated in the MD, not the church.
@Bbb Love Same
Wrong, It is 2nd Ave & East 7th St
Lol and everyone says churches are safe and can never have anything bad happen to them it's a holy place.
