Along with this Superb coverage of the fire and the men of the FDNY saving the building, before it could do further harm to W 17th Street, as always they are the greatest in any city, anywhere in the USA, for that matter the world :o)

As a firestorm installation personal in the construciton field. A commercial building certainly has a different fire zone separated by different grand of material. Each should hold certain minutes if not hours before it went through. The worst condition will be bare interior but not in this case as the fire went outside the window so a drop ceiling is there in place. That is saying the fire went through the drop ceiling(rated for 30 minutes), then the fire should spread upward to the upward as the structural design trying to prevent the fire from spreading outside the window so no units above shall be affected. GPM from hoses vary. A 2 1/2" hose which would be used on a big fire like this would be up to a few hundred gallons per minute. From deck guns and ladder pipes you're looking at maybe a couple thousand.
Umm the fireman needed to learn how to aim the hose directly into the windows and not on the outside of the other building and on the brinks underneath the windows, why was he aiming the hose outside of the buiding and not into the apartments?
WELL, THEY HAVE BEEN DOING IT FOR OVER 150 YEARS AND DOING IT WELL! THEY DID A FANTASTIC JOB IN KNOCKING THIS FIRE DOWN AND PREVENTING IT FROM SPREADING TO ALL OF THE OTHER BUILDING IN A ABOUT 40 MINUTES TIME!
Tactics. Simply put, pushing a heavy stream through a window could potentially injure or kill a Fire Fighter working within that room. FDNY is one of the best FDs in the world; they have a methodology that works.
anslowp1 Then they should get out the room so that the pumpers can douse attack the fire from the outside becasue aiming the water to the outside on the bricks is not going to put the fire out.
THERE WAS NO ONE WORKING IN THE BUILDING! IT WAS EXTERIOR OPERATIONS ONLY! ALL MEMBERS WERE FIGHTING THIS FIRE FROM 4 DIFFERENT BUILDINGS NOT SEEN FROM HERE! SURROUND AND DROWN TACTICS! THANKS! ;o)

Then they should get out the room so that the pumpers can douse attack the fire from the outside becasue aiming the water to the outside on the bricks is not going to put the fire out.
THERE WAS NO ONE WORKING IN THE BUILDING! IT WAS EXTERIOR OPERATIONS ONLY! ALL MEMBERS WERE FIGHTING THIS FIRE FROM 4 DIFFERENT BUILDINGS NOT SEEN FROM HERE! SURROUND AND DROWN TACTICS! THANKS! ;o)

Hi, I did not get it yet for the ALarm numbers, but sure , 6 seem to be more than 4 ;)
They try to cool down the right side of the building with the ladder ? Why not the left where the other building is close ? Ay idea ? it is very long to cool down such structure , visibly
Are they working inside with that kind of fire too ? Inside the other building may be ?
