I actually use a Silver paint and micro sponge brushes from Michael's and of course a toothpick. It works well on Mandalorians and others with metal armors. But preferably for the bad Batch so far I'm using a light grey as silver doesn't make sense on clone armor. just some tips. Luv your vids and enjoying being apart of such a caring community of customizer and collectors.
As a kid I built gun replicas and I learned a cool trick that I used on my 1/6 scale Hasbro Revenge of the Sith Clone Trooper, with Captain Rex Head Sculpt I bought on Ali express, and Captain Rex's 3D printed pistols, Ammo pouch, and shoulder Armor I bougt on eBay. I basically made a $200+ figure for about $70. Anyway, I painted his guns with Adhesion Promoter primer, then two coats of flat gun metal gray, then two coats of flat black. After it dries, I take 1000 grit sandpaper and lightly sand the flat parts on the gun until a slight bit of gun metal gray shows through the black. It makes the guns look "used" and weathered. Being a gun collector, I have many guns, my favorite being my Government issue Colt 1911 .45 Auto . I will not fix the weathering on that pistol because it would take away the history. Any other weapon (except my Springfield M1 Garand), I would immediately clean and blue. I did replace the magazines because one was crumbling and the other was rusted pretty badly. The gun is amazing. It has no rust, and fires perfectly. I just keep it clean and oiled. I digress, it gives me the perfect base model to use for weathering a weapon. Any self respecting warrior in combat may have weathering on his weapon, but absolutely no rust unless they are in constant battle, in extreme environments.
I'm actually customizing Tech right now. Lol. Thanks for all your helpful videos, it makes this journey a bit easier to accomplish. I just put a pencil in my "tool" kit and I will use that trick. Great video, keep them coming. 👍
I have a question: I have a plain white clone trooper that I gave legion markings but my paint is acrylic. How can I use this method without smearing the legion markings all over the place?
Watching this on my phone in landscape. Some close-ups would have been nice. All I can see is that it looks like the clone changed a tire while wearing his armor.
You know what man. THIS is how you properly black wash/weather troopers.....I've seen some overly done sloppy black washes and I thought thats impossible to mess up but I plan on making mine just like your and i have matte clear spray as well. I hope they turn out ok. Just add more water than paint really right? And then wipe off?
I wouldn't recommend sharpie, it can fade to purple over time since sharpie is really just a super dark purple. Tried it on a storm trooper that came with spotty black paint and it looks pretty messed up 2 years later.
I wish they had the black line too tbh but the reason they don’t is cuz they’re from the animated series which if you pay attention don’t have the black line

I would also add that gloss coat from a jar for their visors is great. Use the type you can apply with a brush.

Amazing 10/10 will make this custom again
It’s a bit late, but does it matter too much what black and brown paints you use for the wash?

What does the spray do to the figure?
it seals the paint and makes the color look matte instead of shiny/glossy.
Is there a tutorial for stormtroopers?
I just don't dare to mess with my figures lol, I like vanilla things
i like dark chocolate flavour
