I don't understand why people hate to see anime get hype, the authors and studios worked their asses off to make them the best they can, if their work gets hype and fame it's a good thing, it's nothing to be bittered about
It's not the hype , but the thing where the anime gets shoved into your face , to the point where it actually becomes overhyped like aot s1 even after being so good , but jjk is a good example of the hype being understandable because it is actually going pretty good , for now atleast

It’s usually just salty elitists that are butt hurt because their obscure favorite anime that came out 15+ years ago isn’t getting the attention that anime are getting today. It’s just unfortunate that those are the people who screech the loudest in the anime community so it makes newer people in the community not want to even look at an anime that is having any sort of success.

@@Ash_Wen-li I don't like naoki urasawa's way of writing in general too much conveniences and stuff. 20th century boys was even worse for me. LoGH is a 10 though (despite some little problems like the 2 dimensional space battles and other minor world building issues, nothing is perfect after all). Only anime that deserve 10 for me are LoGH, evangelion (and end of eva), berserk 97 (don't care about the lack of animation it is an amazing adaptation of the best arc in berserk before it's eventual downhill), ashita no joe (first one has some issues with pacing and filler but 2nd one is a masterpiece), fma 03 (yes i prefer this over BH because it's thematically richer and morally more complex. Sure it had little problems like stupid frank archer cyborg stuff but that is a really minor complaint) and some other stuff that i am in between a 9 and a 10 like 3 gatsu no lion, shouwa genroku, rose of versailles, welcome to the nhk, ping pong, tatami galaxy, ghost in the shell SAC, texhnolyze and maybe cowboy bebop despite being episodic spike's characterization is phenomenal. A series has to balanced in terms of characterization, plot (by that i mean not having too many plot holes, conveniences, good pacing etc.) and theme exploration for me to be a 9 or a 10.

The movie is weak imo. Main character had no presence or personality, neither did Mononoke, and the resolution was unfulfilling. I feel like because it's Ghibli that people hype their scores up for it

@@TheMoshnak Me and my wife watched it a few months ago and both agreed. Main character's whole plot was "I have to get cured". He never sided with the spirits nor the humans and he had no obligation to help the spirits or the humans. He was just there to get his curse lifted. Mononoke didn't trust him because he was human, who also was only in the movie towards the back end. I feel like nostalgia goggles are on for you guys. Y'all gotta rewatch it as an adult because I thought it was better when I was younger too

S1 and S2 aside, re was speedrunned, skipped so much meaningful and important content that the adaptation fell flat on its face imo. Theres so much character development glossed over that it makes all the most impactful characters feel cheap and shallow.

Well as a teenager the anime's that got me into anime are death note (first anime which introduced me to the world of anime and of course it is the holy gateway anime)
Attack on Titan (it made me realize how great a work of fiction can be)
Fullmetal Alchemist brotherhood (I would not say it made me realize something but it made me realize that no story can be as perfect)

Probably Gundam Thunderbolt. I really liked the rivalry between the main characters, the mobile suit designs were nice, and the music has to be the best part in my opinion. It’s a shame that it’s only 8 episodes.
I feel so enlightened that they all like Monster. Honestly my favourite anime of all time, simply because of the psychological rollercoaster it is.

The anime that kind of got me started in anime, not counting like pokemon or digimon or yugioh (are they anime? technically yes, but they were like marketed as cartoons, they had Saturday morning cartoon timeslots, and as a kid you don't know the difference between an anime and a cartoon), when I was a teenager (14-15 I want to say; like freshman or sophomore in high school) was Fullmetal Alchemist and subsequently Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Needless to say, I started on a high note and had very high standards from then onwards. I still have sort of high standards, but also love the absolute junk food that some anime really are.

I love Space Dandy, but can understand the point. How could Totoro be a 4, it's so wholesome and atmospheric. I never get tired of watching it. I suppose if it's not your thing, but I think it succeeds in what it's trying to do.

Idk, for me it was just weird, not a fun watch. To enjoy it you have to not take it seriously, otherwise the story felt pretty bland and random. The ending was a jam though.
The soundtrack was so great, and I’m not talking about the ending. It takes place in New York and the background music feels like it’s something you would hear on a radio in that world.

@Shonen Impact most people care. if i wanted good harem i would watch shows with "harem" tag. but sao is one of the few long running action romances out there and ppl get baited by thinking its not harem. which is why most people hate sao.
That slight against halo legends is unacceptable. Half of the stories are great. The prototype, the duel, and the babysitter were great. And none of the rest were necessarily bad

it's my least favorite out of the three that I've watched (the other two being Kiki's and Totoro), but that movie is still amazing

Their problem is that they rate stuff based in: if they like it or not, which is bad, you can love x stuff but rate it very low cause it was bad, and hate x stuff but rate it highly cause its good.

I personally like code breaker it was a really enjoyable watch but the anime itself is so poorly done that i would not rate it above a 6 yet i would still re-watch it over other animes that i rate a 7.
It really depends on how you rate. I take into account voice acting, art, quality, music, scenery and more aspect specific to anime. Than i combine that with the dialogue, plot/story, pace, world structure and more. Finally i think about entertainment. How much did it captivate me and too what degree did i want to keep watching it.
When i did that for code breaker i thought a 6 was as high as i could go because it had flaws all over. If i had just scored it off entertainment value than a 7 would have probably been what i would have scored it

Danmachi is my Guilty pleasure its so simplistic and Brilliant you just fall in love with it. Its a Cliche done right and you just enjoy the ride

it's cute, but it's really inessential, I feel no motivation to continue watching it, and that's not because I bear it any ill will. I think it's impressive how inoffensively mediocre it is. takes real work to make something that mid.
As a teenager, I can tell you that I pretty much enjoy everything I watch and when I first watched anime every show was pretty much like an 8 or above lol. Now my opinions are much different.
Space Dandy is absolutely hilarious, there are episodes that genuinely make you feel like youre high on psychedelics
"Homecoming" was a fantastic contribution to the Halo universe and none of the other shorts in Halo Legends matter ("The Duel" and "The Babysitter" were both excellent too).
I give Princess Mononoke and Nausicaa both 10. I would actually give Spirited Away an 8. Absolutely gorgeous film, but I felt it was a bit overrated. I didn't connect as much with the characters or the message as I did with Mononoke or Nausicaa.

I feel kinda bad for people who watched Mekakucity Actors without knowing that it is the ending to Kagerou Daze (Which is a multi media series that covers music Novels manga and Radio dramas) So no wonder it made no sense to somebody who hasn’t seen the rest
most kids at my school like a lot of old school shounen because we all grew up really young watching stuff like naruto and bleach. but while we all have a general liking to shounen, everyone kind of falls all over the place in tastes. you're either really into anime and grew up on it or you just haven't seen anime, there's no in-between.

No, all these "my taste is better than yours" bullshit is garbage anyway. Like whatever you want to like. Every anime is with flaws and nitpickable so theres no point in being pretentious.
Princess Minonoke is that movie you really like for having great world building.
You just want to know more from these characters.
Everything was really well put together without it getting too 'slice of life' like other Studio Ghibli films tend to do.
With Danmachi the source material being the novels & then manga is why it's got such appeal. Sadly J.C Staff is trying to condense tons of content into short run segments of episodes which they just can't so it's either severely cut down or left out all together.
Seriously, the novels are some of the best light novels I’ve read. You can tell the author actually knows how to write compared to a lot of other Japanese web and light novel authors
JC staff was like the only good fight scene they made was the Minotaur and Goliath. I hate they do the bleach style cut out fight scene like in one punch man season 2 the best fights and drawned battle in manga look like shit. But jc staff good at slice of life and comedy genre Flying witch, konosuba, direction is lacking but still enjoyable because of great source materials.
I forgot the abomination that is Persona 5 animation JC staff is the biggest hit or miss Animation studio ever.
@@jqa16 I agree. I'd honestly love to see it handled by White Fox Studio but it'll likely never happen. What needs to happen is there needs to be a change of directors & story boarders. And if you can't get content in all at once I'd much rather see say a odd episode count but broken into 2 parts. So like first parts 8-10 episodes and then the next part is also 8-10 episodes. These 12 episodes a Season are clearly to short or director is clearly trying to cram to much content into a Season. Like the Novels have clear Arcs and points in which you can stop.

15 was like my rebirth as an anime fan, and I started with FLCL and Gurren Lagann before even getting back into my shounen trash. So like, I got taste shock immediately going back into the media

It's rare for me to find a isekai I enjoy. Exceptions being Drifters, Saga of Tanya The Evil, and digimon (if you count that). The quickest ways for them to turn me off is if its a power fantasy or if the mc is supposed to be a nerd like me.

I thought I was the only one lol. Tbh most of the new isekais nowadays are hot garbage. They're literally rip-offs of one another, same meaningless plots with different waifus that have different powers and such.
A lot of them are trash,power fantasy, self insert anime. They're guilty pleasures so a couple of them could be liked if they suite your taste, the most popular isekai is KonoSuba I think maybe try that

A will admit ecchi and harem was amongst my top 3 genres when i started anime. Somewhere along the way i stopped watching them. Some of the reason for that is I watched all the ecchi and harem animes worth watching hahaha
The other reason is just not finding it as entertaining as i used too. Though i can still watch a great anime with some good complimentary ecchi but i can't watch harems anymore.
Other than not watching harems i still watch everything i used too. Of course i know what i prefer now. Also have watched enough to know what is good quality and what is not. At the beginning almost any anime was great in my eyes but with experience that changes.
As a Teen I literally watched and loved a lot of trash anime like Fairy Tail. I cant bring myself to hate it, but im willing to trash on SAO. Literally as that show progressed it just got so much worst.

I definitely get the thing about anime being hyped up by others and feeling a little underwhelmed when you actually watch it. Ngl, I had that with Code Geass. Granted, the ending to R2 was very good, but my overall enjoyment of the entire show was, hm not a 10 for me.

Psycho pass is honestly a pretty evergreen anime. It has a lot of really relevant concepts for today’s day and age. And yeah, the world building was incredible.
Season 2 isn’t utter trash, tho. That ONE SCENE with the opera music and the ear in the box was INCREDIBLE.
I think people just trash Season 2 because Kogami isn't in it... but honestly season 2 has some INCREDIBLE moments!
