Men at work has 2 of their US festival performances on their channel, and none of those 2 songs are on the shortened version that they included in some TV program, which means i'm pretty sure they have their full performance somewhere. It is a different version with different camera angles and editing, but either way I would love to see this performance in better quality. One question, there is a bootleg DVD that someone released containing men at work's full US festival performance. Are these your own recordings or did you take them from that DVD?
I watched their concert in betamax tape in 82 during a vacation break from high school. Love the melody ,the guitar solo and the vocals towards the end. Never really thought much about the lyrics until i get through lifes hills and valleys. Ive been battling depression all my life and the covid period got me to the bottom together with my failing health. Last year was the darkest period of my life, im recovering now ..one day at a time.Mental illness is real. Meditate Gods word and seek professional help. One day....Ghost appear and fade away.
If you hear Colin sing this song today, 40 years later he sounds literally just the same, and in some cases even better as he slows it down a bit and you can hear him really play with the notes…still hits those high notes in the 3rd verse easily.

Colin Hay = Easily in the top 10 best singers of the past 50 years. Not to mention, in this video starting around 2:00 - the man is quite an amazing guitarist with a solo on par with Mark Knopfler. In my mind the most underrated musician of the entire century.

@@Hellwyck it’s actually to keep the crowd bouncing to the music. Many fantastic, medium tempo songs make a band fearful it won’t go over so well and drag along, so they bump up the tempo a little bit.
He’s actually not a particularly good singer. But it matters little. He’s telling a story in the song. He’s taken a Band-Aid and ripping it off. Exposing our insecurities
@@chriswesterfield2042 Maybe not criminally ,but they were definitely big and a great band live. They just didn't have a ton of hits although their songs are quite good. I remember them playing their videos what seemed every hour back then. Good times.
Often there are multiple bands on the ticket and each band has a certain amount of time to play. If there is a delay or problems, the band has to compensate a bit or they wouldn't be able to play their entire set

For those who complain about the tempo: they played this way in all the 1983 tour. At the Berkeley show they performed it even faster.
