Assuming this discussion pertains to American schools: The trearment of children in public schools is deplorable. We live in a late-stage capitalist (aka neo-feudalistic) society that thrives off of the exploitation of the poor. More and more of our rights are being taken away every year. They'd happily starve our children if it meant saving ten dollars. Public schools exist to create laborers, guess they gotta get them used to not eating, huh?

@@battlesheep2552 Fair enough, my naivete shot in its sweet youth. But the only choice in such situations is to learn. No culture would voluntarily extinct its language for global unity, so the divide will exist with or without dialects. It might be lesser, but people who became refugees would feel it all the same. I think the issue isn't that language itself is holding people back, its education which isn't provided to them. And of course, to teach them, the teachers first have to learn how to talk to them.

How would you even prevent a language from changing and diversifying over time? It's a naturally occurring process that can happen over the span of just a few years, sometimes a noticeable linguistic shift can happen in a few months. You can intentionally stabilize a language through prescriptive education but there's a limit to that too. In order to achieve what you're proposing you'd need to somehow stop culture from developing at all and somehow just stay still indefinitely because absolutely everything has an impact on language since it's literally the way people communicate.

I would like to add an addendum to the pto one:
Saying "sometimes you shouldn't take pto" is one side of the spectrum, but just taking off anytime and saying screw it to your boss is the other. Not bc you should care about your employer, but bc it hurts your coworkers.
There is a middle guys. Now, my advice is for certain jobs, but depending on your job, it might not apply. But its good to keep in mind.
    1) try and schedule off well in advance. Obviously, this isn't always possible. But try and schedule as far in advance as you can. This gives your employer enough time to plan for your absence.
    2) At my job, we're assigned drawings to work sometimes weeks in advance. There's also a scheduler. Whenever I plan to go on vacation, I inform the scheduler and remind my bosses in the two weeks leading up to my vacation time. This gives the scheduler enough time to reassign the work for the week of my vacation and my supervisors can assist her. I also try not to leave any work done that will have to be picked up by my coworkers during my absence. Im not doing this for my employer or my bosses. Im doing this bc I respect my coworkers, who also have already full schedules.

You know what really pisses me off? Adams City High School was on the news because “We’re starving”.
As a former student of the school, I can confirm that prior to this every kid was entitled to one free meal. She complained that they close before feeding everyone and she did take video of them closing shop as well as empty vending machines. The best part is, she had lunch A and I had lunch B. I never had to miss a lunch because they “ran out of food”. You could make the point that they close early to make sure they have enough meals for b, but they had enough lunches to feed everyone. I’m not sure what happened after this as Covid hit so we went fully online.

A 'Doctor' is a title you get from completing certain academic courses. Both Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz are doctors. Also hat weird superiority europeans have is fascinating and apparently a very sore spot if you go around asking about it.

Dr. Oz is an actual MD. A heart surgeon, in fact. He just decided he could help more people by doing pop medicine teaching than surgery.
But remember that most doctors are C students. Oz lacks the education to understand the things he's trying to tech, as most of those things require loads of peer-reviewed studies to determine if they're remotely correct, and Dr. Oz is one guy who got through med school before specializing in hearts.
What do you call someone who got straight Ds in med school?
      "Doctor."

2:14 True Story, in my high school years I had random bouts of bouncing around my room and ended up rolling ankle just like that. I landed full weight on my ankle and tore the tendon. I was in a walking boot for a whole month. Funny part, got a call from my uncle to carry heavy boxes into his house immediately after I injured myself.

I go to a Christen private school where when I was 6 I was very blunt and managed to offend the CE teacher so much over saying “somones lying to me” I was confused as I had heard the Big Bang theroy and now creation story, I got sent to the principals office
Same teacher also said murders can be forgiven and the school says to put god then family then others before yourself when talking about mental health, charity, etc
It’s not a fun school in other aspects it’s just a bit over the top at times

Austria, the place where we have a healthcare system that doesn't send us into poverty for a broken leg. Where we have a pension system that allows us to stop working at 65 and still get money 14 TIMES A YEAR.
Where we get paid 14 times a year too for working 12 months
What? You think I'm going to break down just because one of the most notorious guys in history came from my country. My mother had to go through chemo that cost a total of over half a million euros. You know how much we paid? 0, nil, nada, nothing.
Yeah when compared to americans I definitely feel like I've drawn the short straw.

    12:19 Idk, personally phrases like that irk me a bit. Mainly because;
1.) You can't just act like people in general can't be manipulative bastards who'll do and say anything to get what they want.
2.) They kind of take away responsibility from the man in question. Yeah she's a single mom, but unless she inseminated herself, it definitely took two to tango. Not saying I know her exact situation, but I've seen plenty of instances where the girl meets up with the "nice guy" only to either get cheated on or worse, get pregnant by the same guy only for him to go MIA.
Gendered issues like this are stupid in general, but leaving double-standards unchecked is the reason why these issues arise in the first place. Then there's the biases in court, paternity leave, and even something as universally basic as taking care of a child. Sigh, I just wish things will get better.

I know or know of a number of single mothers around my age from around the area I grew up. All of them had older sisters who were also single mothers, and all of them I either know for sure intentionally had a kid, or they repeated their choice, so they didn't think of it as a mistake to correct. Historically, being a single mother was much too stigmatized, but the pendulum has definitely swung too far the other way.
