    I have a 2006 rl with 230k miles. She drives like a brand new car. It had a lot of issues with the interior such as ripped seats and a broken door handle, as well as slightly leaking some sort of fluid which I think normal for an old car, but other than those issues it drives like a dream

    The voice commands on the car will respond to “find nearest gas station, Italian restaurant, hotel, atm and similar things” also if you have your home address saved you can say go home with the voice commands also

      I like to use the voice command for climate controls. It's cheaper than upgrading to the 09-2012 climate control module.

      I never hear any talk about the notes and reminder feature. I loved setting birthady reminder for someone, because once you enter the car and start the car, it will automatically annouce the reminder aloud in the car. I just miss that feature and the sophisticated calculator in there.

    Nice work, upvoted the video 👍. Good to see someone hitting over 300k.
    Do you have any issues with oil burning? I had a 2006 that was going through more than a normal high mileage vehicle would and that was to be said of these engines too.

    • @jbb3675

      VTEC burns oil... If you do manual pulls up to redline like I do, you'll have to top it it off occasionally! my '05 only has 223k kms on it and I just changed the AC Compressor and did the upper and lower front control arms about 5k kms ago along with 4 Toyo all season tires, front pads and rotors, new head gasket and valve cover gaskets and all the fluids. Bought it for $3200 CAD 3 years ago and have put 40k kms on it and about $6k CAD more into all that work. It's totally worth every penny I spend! Next things to do are re-upholstering the front seats, glove box lid, center console and front door armrests. Thankfully, I already have the new covers. I also installed a cold air intake when my rubber connector cracked and split. Will likely also get a Stage 1 paint correction done soon.

      @@jbb3675 there was a video by ExoticCar PlayPlace awhile back I saw that mentioned the motor for our cars having this issue when they get higher in mileage. I would have to put a quart of new oil in every month but that's with me doing a decent amount of commuting to work. I never would go in manual mode either, just drive aggressively here and there lol. I'm in the states so we go by miles and I got my RL at 80k miles and got it to 175k before it got totaled. It was a A-spec too...I never seen another one out on the road.
      Yeah a lot of the stuff you had to do happened to my car too. I think my AC compressor went out not too long before that and had a crack in a rubber connector of the air intake also, not sure if it was the same as yours but sounds like these are things that go out down the timeline of our cars 😂. Besides typical maintenance, only things I replaced before that were the alternator and a engine mount. Most reliable vehicle I've ever owned that I ended picking up the 2011 refresh model earlier this year as a 2nd car! Mainly wanted it for the better MPG and being faster. It was somewhat disappointing though because they cut costs on things like the interior, I think the wood is fake and maybe they used fake leather too. I could tell the difference in feel with the steering wheel in my 06, it felt premium! I loved my A-spec at the beginning and had it for 8 or 9 years but didn't realize how good it was til having my late generation Audi S5. I love the S5 too but the RL's sound system is better hands down and that car came out in 2005 so just tells you the quality and engineering they put into it.

      I got 333k miles on it now. No engine doesn’t burn any oil. There are some oil leaks forming and I will need to address them .

    Using that Mobil oil is the cause for the seal leaking. Had the same problem with mine and was told that the seals were not made to support synthetic oil. Just putting that out there not sure if it’s true.

    Really informative video. Thanks for sharing! I'm looking at buying a 2008 RL with 140k miles. Done my research and saw that the propellant shaft bearing goes bad and needs a whole drive shaft put in due to not being servicable. Did you ever have any issues with yours and end up replacing it? It's one of the things putting me off from buying since it's so expensive.

    • @Travelingcarguy1
      @Travelingcarguy1  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for watching! I still have this car I have 340k miles now and still unstoppable. I think you should definitely buy that RL , if the maintenance history is good these cars can last a lifetime. Minor issues like alternators, radiator, AC compressor were replaced at 330k miles. Now it looks like it may need all four struts and that’s original too. Everything is functional on it and is quieter then many new cars

  • @Hiro__Nakamura

    I’m scared to pull the trigger on one of these because I’m scared of needing RL-specific parts and not being able to find them, at least without selling a limb. Can anybody speak on this? Is it not that big of a deal or should I get a more widespread model of car instead?

    • @Travelingcarguy1
      @Travelingcarguy1  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That was never an issue for me. This car has been really reliable but when it did need parts I was able to find them at auto part stores or online for that matter. Dealerships has many parts too. Many of the parts are closely related to other Honda products so that made it easier. Currently I got 350k miles on mine and still chugging along

    The Honda steering wheel cover kinda detracts from its luxury interior, Autozone has nice "leather/pleather" in tan/beige, and some with faux wood trim thatd 'd at least match nicely inside. Just my humble opion, otherwise nice reliable RL you have !

      @@Travelingcarguy1 I worked on a 2006 and well, interior electronics for multimedia and doors are trash. It has a well-known issue where a problem with the door sensor can render the entire car immovable. It does not use standard designs for several things, a great example is the wipers. You can't just walk into Walmart and buy wipers for it.
