RE: the artist saying "you're a skinny girl, you’ll be fine" in relation to pain. as a bigger person, I don’t think it was an attack on bigger people, or even related to us at all. in the tattoo world I’ve always heard artists joke about how big muscular dudes are the ones who seem to suffer more getting tattooed, while there are always small petite girls who surprise everyone with their pain tolerance. I think it was just talking more about that
I'm a thin dude and most of mine have been a pretty average pain level.
Yeah I assumed it was just a joke on the stereotype that petite girls can handle pain better than anyone, she kinda took it too seriously I think lol

Years my artist has been with me for 5 yrs now 6ish tattoos (10sessions I'm poor I wish I could do more) he always has to put a reminder on my appointments to set timers so he'll take his breaks cus I'll sit through anythin, I had two spinal taps before 10 I giggled an freaked out the nurses.......guess my pain tolerance is high😂
Doctor, so med student in the past here. The guy donating his body to science will become absolute legend. Students will pass his story from year to year for decades! I mean that was the most wholesome tatoo idea I have heard. I adore and salute you Sir, big big collective love from past, present and future med students ❤️

That gloveless home tattoo behind the ear literally made my skin crawl. A skin infection at that location could quickly turn into a bone infection which is so close to the inner ear and brain.
The girl with the geometric back is a great video for the short format of tik tok. Hits all of the important notes of getting a tattoo, researching and choosing an artist, what should be done before the session and the importance of working with the artist. Plus, that kind of piece for one's first tattoo is really jumping in the deep end. Makes sense though by avoiding a small piece in a good area.

I've used numbing cream for all three of my tattoos which helped me manage the pain but definitely didn't eliminate it completely. But the other day I had my 'friend' basically imply that if you want to get a tattoo you've got to earn it by going through the pain so I didn't deserve to be tattooed if I couldn't handle all of the pain 💀💀
Bruh, that's so lame of them to say! It's body art, people making up "rules" is just because they feel bad that you had a better/ more comfortable experience than them.

Im Not of the you have to earn your Tattoo type but I am super surprise everytome people talk about numbing Creme because where I live most proper Tattoo artist refuse to Tattoo you if you use numbing Creme because it can be super harmful apparently?
@R. S. It really isn’t dangerous to use numbing cream. I don’t know why people think that, because it’s simply not true.
I love that ASL Interpreter was included in the jobs.
When I was going to college to become an ASL Interpreter 20 years ago they told us that if we were going to get tattoos, they had to be on our backs, thighs, or torsos. That’s it. That if you got a tattoo on your lower leg (especially as a woman), anywhere on your arms, your hands, or god forbid your face, you’d never get a job.
Now the older generation still looks down on tattoos, but generally if they’re not on your face or hands you’re fine. And most people opt to avoid hands, face, and forearms in my area just because it’s hot here and uncomfortable to wear long-sleeves all the time.
We were also told not to get more than 2 piercings per ear and even that was iffy. Ideally just one in each lobe. If we got more than that we were told we wouldn’t get work.
Same with any tongue piercings or body piercings that can’t be hidden.
It was *incredibly* strict. There were even rules about how long our nails could be and what colors.
All these rules have relaxed a bit in the intervening years, though the older generation still likes things strict.

I can remember back in the 80s, hand/neck tattoos would stop you getting Into clubs/pubs.
It really has come on massively in recent years. The attitude to tattoos back then was unbelievable compared to today. Everyone is tattooed now and nobody takes any notice. It's normal to see tattooed people everywhere now ☺
I loved the scoliosis back tattoo, as another tattooed scoli, its so important and amazing to find artists who take the time with stencil placements and by the same token us as clients understand taking that time regardless in the process. Cheers and thx for the vids!
All of my previous tattoos I didn’t use numbing cream because I got a bit of that judgment. But got my sternum and stomach done yesterday and finally decided to try. Numbing cream team all the way!! Btw I love all your videos, and the makeup is on point girl!
I’m getting my first tattoo in a few months and it’ll be on my ribs… so I just wondered what numbing cream did you use? And do you apply it right before the appointment or?
@@caracheyenne8839 The artist I went to has it on hand so unfortunately I don’t know the brand. But it was a pink cream in a metal tube. And it took about 60-90 minutes to fully settle so I applied it before the scheduled apt and hung out in the shop. I’d recommend contacting your artist and they might offer it as well!
@@caracheyenne8839 I used painless tattoo and “tattoo numbing cream.” Put it on about 2 hours before and wrap it tight, like no air at all. But be ready to have a re apply option because it will wear off after about 2 hours because of the wiping. Also, don’t feel judged because I got my ribs and sternum done without it and it was like being tortured. Like top 5 most painful things in my life, and I broke my neck and had kidney stones before.
@@caracheyenne8839 i used tktx (the green one) in the past for one really painful and long session and it honestly worked wonders no pain at all, but tell your tattoo artist that you will be using it because it can affect the tattooing process, so if you can you should go without it but if you want to try it i recommend this brand
@@caracheyenne8839 you should ask what your artists preference is !! some inks have reactions with some numbing creams so your specific artist will be able to tell you what works best for them/their products !

I believe the "you're a skinny girl" comment was in regards to a) women have higher pain tolerances than men and b) fat rolls can be sensitive to tattoo so skinnier people have fewer sensitive areas.
Out of my entire lower back tattoo the fatty upper butt cheek was the most painful.

9:50 tbh, I feel like that would be the other way around? A skinnier person having trouble sitting for a back piece simply bc they could be more bony on their backs vs someone with curves? Maybe that’s just me but I feel like that makes more sense rather than what Angel Rose supposedly told that skinny client. 🤷🏽♀️
I have zero problems with tattoos on people in a professional work environment… however poor artwork and placement (especially on the face, neck or hands) like the tiktokers are doing either doing themselves or having their “friends” with zero experience do them, are going to be major regrets depending on their future professions… thank goodness for laser removal. BTW… LOVING THE BODY SCIENCE TATTOO GUY! I’m an organ donor and have a few scars from prior surgeries and LOVE this idea!!
We really should stigmatize home tattoos more, that shit is *actually dangerous*.. I've always wanted and loved tattoos and when my brother came home with two (insanely tiny) home stick-and-poke tattoos at the age of like 15, I was more furious than our mom.. I waited till I was 18 and at a real studio, had my dad with me (who have years of experience of getting tattooed) and my mom was more upset about that..

I just my ribs tattooed yesterday… I got two traditional whales on either side, and the first one I did without numbing cream because of the stigma, and it was akin to torture. Second one I used the cream and I almost cried because I was so relieved I didn’t have to go through that pain again. I have paid my dues, and anyone who pulls some macho BS and tells you you shouldn’t use numbing cream can kick rocks (and maybe go to therapy because they might need help.)
I really liked that last one. I'd be really interested to see some of your subscribes tattoos with their professions. I think it really helps normalize tattoos. I work in a white collar office job, and lots of my coworkers have tattoos, but not super visible ones.

Karl XVI Johan, a king of Sweden, is highly likely(or at least believed) to have got that quote tattooed like a lot of Napoleons close companions did before being made KING of Sweden. I have a lot of artist who doesn’t allowed numbing cream. So sure use numbing cream if you want but always ask your artist first.

Fat/muscle protects nerves (kinda). Tattoo placed on higher fat/muscle content are usually less sore.
It’s a joke in the tattoo world that skinny petite women tend to have a larger pain tolerance than muscular burly men, the joke is that the big muscular man is like “yeah I can handle this tattoo” of like three lines and then he passes out. Meanwhile the skinny person is barely acknowledging the full sleeve they’re getting.

I only have one tattoo, it's pretty big and detailed and full colour though, about the size of my whole hand ✋.
And if I had known the numbing cream existed I would have certainly used it in the last of 5 hours.

Speaking as a curvy voluptuous fella, I can say it’s not a “skinny person” skill to sit for a tattoo.
I think it’s probably easier if you have more fat on your bones. Speaking as someone who is underweight (working on gaining weight, it’s not easy), tattoos really fucking hurt because it’s all directly on your bones. Tattooing my lower arm, I can feel the vibrations in the bones of my shoulder and back. When you have more fat, there’s more cushioning. Also, I feel like tattoos look best on a big canvas!

Had a talk with my step-dad about getting a tattoo and he started showing me pictures of his friend who had an admittedly horrible tattoo (wobbly lines, major blowout, the whole nine yards except scarring) and then ha showed a "great" tattoo of this same dude.... yeah I'm glad I vetted out my artist really well

I think they just meant that you wouldn’t expect smaller girls to be able to handle the pain as much as “manly men” or the stereotypical tattooed person but they have a surprising pain tolerance
