Three Dog Night is an American rock band from the 60's-70's. This band had a lot of energy. They had 3 guys with great voices that could all sing lead vocals. They had great songs such as "One", "An Old Fashioned Love Song", "Eli's Coming", "Shambala", "Joy To The World", "Liar", "Try A Little Tenderness", "Never Been To Spain", "Easy To Be Hard", "The Show Must Go On" etc.
Oh Darlin'! 70 year old rock and roll gal here. I *adore* your reaction! We had fun with all the music we had - all being blasted at our riverbottom woodsies or some old house with the bathtub filled with purple passion! 🤪
@@NewCanaanMom No, dear... from left to right is Chuck Negron, Cory Wells in the middle and Danny Hutton on the right. The music of our youth is giving the same smiles it gave us when we heard this in the 70’s, music from 60’s,70’s, with a group of people laughing and kicking it back…man, the time goes by quick, so many from those times not here today. Just fragmented memories of yesterday is all some of us have today.
Got to love Grandma’s music! I’m 70 years old lady ! Love watching you young kids play these great old songs. Fun times in the late 60’s 70’ s and early 80’s.
They released this one in 1970. The days of drugs & free love & Woodstock. Vietnam war & civil rights protests. I graduated in 1971 & these guys were very representative of the times. Many songs were more discreet & used 'code' in their songs so the meanings were not so obvious.
Here's the thing about Three Dog Night. Three LEAD singers who could all front a band (and did) and who could all hear well enough to sing multiple harmony parts. They got together and put some songs and some arrangements out that were really good. When they hit the airwaves they were a phenomenon that never looked back until they had cranked out multiple chart-topping hits. They may not be a 'favorite band' of many, but everybody remembers their catalogue well...and most have a favorite song among them. They were all over radio for at least a decade and it's really fun to watch you react to their music 40 years later. Keep it up. Check out "One," "Joy To The World" and "Black and White" just to name a few.
They are not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame because they didn't write their own songs. Some sites even list them as a "cover band"! So infuriates me. There were previous versions of some of their songs but it's THEIR versions that we all remember. If I hear Eli's Coming, it's in my head for weeks! 😄
This song, the words, the tempo, the sounds, the smoke that could choke you to death......absolutely captures the complete essence of a 70's house party. Music blaring. Alcohol, weed. Other injestibles, people taking turns in the bedrooms...... I always made a quick escape and was so thankful for clubbing at discos where most of this could be avoided.
I was a seventies teenager in England. I was fortunate enough to have parents who kept an eagle eye on me otherwise I wouldn't be the happy, healthy adult I am today ....😅
"Momma told me notta come". How many parties I've been to back in the day and THIS single lyric running through my head along with my massive hangover the next day!
Yes... Me too... Wasn't my mama.. but it takes a village to raise a child... As was always said. Glad to see we can still have a reach to teach ... Our on line village. ❤
Maaaaan, the way he introduces shakiness & breaks in his voice when he sings "I don't wanna see no more" & "'bout scared me half to death!" is BRILLIANT. He drops from belting w/ his full chest to shaking in the corner w/ Shaggy & Scooby. DO Y'ALL KNOW HOW IMPOSSIBLY HARD THAT IS?!?!?!

I’m 53 and Three Dog Night was my favorite band when I was little and I loved this song! My dad would come home from work at put on this album and I would dance all over the living room! Good times and in my opinion, this was the greatest decade of music!
Three dog night also sung a song called "JEREMIAH was a BULLFROG" My mom was young and beautiful and she would be dancing through Kmart while listening to this song pushing her shopping cart.😂 By all means check that one out.😊
I'm 63 and I sing this song every day about something, anything...I raised my kids telling them not to do so many things using this tune. I love this song.
I got to see Three Dog Night in concert way back when. A lot of bands just kind of left you hanging when they took a break between sets but not Three Dog Night; their drummer did a 30 minute drum solo. So cool. I'll be back to watch any more reactions you want to do to them and, of course as always, Home Free too. 😄
I saw Three Dog Night in concert three times, when they were at the height of their popularity. Cory Wells, singing lead on this song, passed away just a few years ago. My all time favorite band.
I'm a 57 year old Mamie, Ninnie, and Gamie. I love watching the reactions of you young people. The sad thing is that y'all's generation won't ever know the peace and innocence of that era. This is way back when everyone gathered around outside in our yards or down on the river banks. This is when music was music. You had fun, but this is when you had to have a voice that could carry a tune. There are so many great songs and bands from back then. I wish they were still around and able to teach their music. But they would also tell you that you had to have soul. What I mean by that is when you sing, you have to be able to feel it in your soul. Because if you can't feel it, then you won't be able to sing it like you should. Keep on keepin' on. Thank you for bringing back memories.
I remember this song getting a lot of radio air time in 1970, fun to watch your reaction and how respectful you are for us who have great memories of the song and times when it was a hit..
Three Dog Night was a favorite for me in the 70's. The 3 part harmonies were stellar. Thank you for your reaction. (do you know what a 3 dog night is?)
Yup! Right back in my dorm room dancin' and singin'. I love this song, but I'd forgotten some of the lyrics. "Turn out the lights, I don't wanna see no more" made me laugh out loud. Three Dog Night had quite a few hits "back in the day". The thing that really made me laugh was the green iridescent Lycra pants on the keyboardist. Yikes! Great reaction to some classic music.

3 Dog Night...members from Los Angeles but their name refers to night temperatures..the colder..the more dogs needed... Formed in '67..known from '68-'75 achieving 21 consecutive Billboard Top 40's and 12 consecutive Gold Albums... They were still touring and recording in 2012..43 years after their first album... Thanks for the memories Greg...🌿🌿🌿

It's autobiographical when you hear Randy sing it. You can really see his mom telling him to stay put.

Three dog night also sung a song called "JEREMIAH was a BULLFROG"
My mom was young and beautiful and she would be dancing through Kmart while listening to this song pushing her shopping cart.😂 By all means check that one out.😊
This is a great song! I’m 82, these songs I have forgotten sound new when a young person hears them and enjoys them.
THIS IS 1 OF THOSE SONGS💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊🪝👀❤❤❤
The 60’s and 70’s…two of the greatest decades for music of all time! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
WORD
I was a freshman in college when they released this one, still hilarious! Try their Joy To The World, please!
The song was written by Randy Newman. Three Dog Night brought it to life.
My moment to realize that my parents used to be cool! this was one of the songs that would blast in our house when I was growing up. Love it!
I'm a 65 year old grandma and this is one of my favorites bands along with Credence Clearwater Revival. Please react to either band's music.
I saw them in concert waaay back in the '70s. Aerosmith was the opening act!😮
I’m 74 our generation is second to none.
I love this song
Your reactions make the whole experience better!
I'm 63 and I sing this song every day about something, anything...I raised my kids telling them not to do so many things using this tune. I love this song.
3 Dog Night was one of the top bands in the 70's.
Floyd Sneed was a damned master on the kit. He was one of the reasons I got into playing drums.
I've been to parties like this... I didn't think it was too wild. The SWAT team felt differently, though...
My favourite Randy Newman song.
Such a fun group! Shambala is another great one from them. It has such a feel-good vibe.
They were popular when I was a little girl. I love thir music though. It gets you up and moving.
The genius of Randy Newman, delivered perfectly by an outrageously talented band. Thank you for doing this one.
I remember this song getting a lot of radio air time in 1970, fun to watch your reaction and how respectful you are for us who have great memories of the song and times when it was a hit..
I saw these guys in Concert back in the 70s!!!!
I loved Three Dog Nights
Please do "An Old Fashioned Love Song" by these guys......they will crack you up !!
Oh my goodness, i had forgotten how good their music was!! I'm 71 years old and i grew up with them.
Can't go wrong with Three Dog Night.
Such a great band! Eli’s coming is my favorite though! My mom got me hooked on them
Awesome song, I still remember, singing along. Awesome song and concert.
Three Dog Night was a favorite for me in the 70's. The 3 part harmonies were stellar. Thank you for your reaction. (do you know what a 3 dog night is?)
A cold night.
Guessing it took ‘three dogs’ in the bed to keep warm -
If you care for old melodic music, this reminds me of The Doobie Brothers' "Black Water"
68 years old here! Believe it or not, haven’t heard this for years!! I KNOW EVERY WORD…STILL? Crazy! Miss those days!!
Found out they still play from time to time, but sparingly, not all original members. Really enjoy this group.
Yeah, I heard it was an old Alaskan phrase referring to how many dogs it took to keep you warm in your bed at night.
The 3 dog night was a cold one in Australia
That’s what I heard. An Australian band. They sleep with their dogs and that was the saying… it was so cold it was a three dog night!!
Crazy that they aren't in the hall of fame
I love Three Dog Night. I grew up hearing it as my Mom LOVED them.😉
Your reaction was superb! Thanks for appreciating a song from my generation so much!
Lots of good times back then.
66 yr old female great dance music in the day 😂
LOL!!! This crazy song came out when I was a teenager... Lol!! The look on your face just sums up how I always react to it too!!
