- The House on the Rock is a tourist attraction opened in 1959. It is a complex of architecturally distinct rooms, streets, gardens, and shops designed by Alex Jordan Jr. The "house" itself is atop Deer Shelter Rock, a column of rock approximately 60 feet (18 m), 70 feet (21 m) by 200 feet (61 m) on the top, which stands in a forest nearby.
The complex now features "The Streets of Yesterday", a re-creation of an early twentieth century American town; "The Heritage of the Sea", featuring nautical exhibits and a 200-foot model (61 m) of a fanciful sperm whale-like sea creature; "The Music of Yesterday", a huge collection of automatic music machines; and what the management bills as "the world's largest indoor carousel", among other attractions. The carousel at the House on the Rock features 269 carousel animals, 182 chandeliers, over 20,000 lights, and hundreds of mannequin angels hanging from the ceiling. The carousel has no horses.
Wow that's a huge place i wonder how many people is needed to maintain it.
I cant imagine what it takes to keep this place dusted and cleaned.

Lived 1/2 hour drive from there nearly all my life, and still haven't been to it. I'll be a good place to take my kids I'm sure!

Been there several times. Takes around 3 full hours to get through the place ..lots of ramps to go up..and down..they have a great golf course..at the house on the rock hotel..its a bit dated..great pools indoor s..and a huge hot tub. 2 night min..on summer weekend s. The house is in spring Green ,WI. As well as frank loyd Write studio on hwy 23. Nice road to travel on to Wisconsin Dells area..water park capital of the world...were from Florida..a nice summer vacation. To Wisconsin..area.
American gods has introduced this place to millions of Americans who didn't know it even exsisted.now there's more tourist.i went once and I got to admitt I been all over the country and dome parts of the world and house on the rock was knebofbtge most beautiful places I seen.its like being on lsd but not.i did take shrooms on thev2nd day and had the best trip of my life its something every American must do once in life is visit its absolutely stunning
There are terrifying nightmare fuel rooms too. Like the super creepy dolls!
I live all things weird and spooky, a friend randomly took me to this place and omg I fell in love tbh, the galleries are pure chaos and I'd love to go back someday

I went there as a kid with my parents. I only remember the living spaces which were fabulous by the way! How could I not remember the museum part? It seems like it would have been a standout experience for my young self.I wonder if my parents skipped that part.
There are 2 different ticket sets. You have to pay for both parts of the tour. I remember getting stopped after the actual house and having to show my double pass.

If you ever visit they won't let you ride it. Only Shaddow moon is allowed. Too bad there won't be a season 4. Hopefully they wrap it up in a tv film.

I’ve been there several times, and never saw the multi-level carousel. Where is that? Every time I’ve gone, in the area where the carousel was, we were told we had to go to the right. But I know there’s a hallway that looks like a monster’s mouth on the left. It was never open when I went. Is that where the second carousel is?

Indeed. Largest versus tallest is different.
We don't see the typical carousel riders there
If you look closely the women are half beast, half woman and have been turned into Carousel rides themselves.
why does the author think these things are fake?
Maybe many of the things are made to replicate old things. Maybe not original but wow still fantastic.
