- When God says to Moses in Exodus 23, "look, you better pay attention to this angel and listen to him because my name is in him." It's a way of saying, "I'm in him. These concepts really help me realize just how unfathomably great God is. The concept of God goes far beyond what we think we understand. The name alone has so much depth. For Him to be so great yet so loving with us is really a testament to His character.

@@lanegregory6367 The “angel” (Heb. Malak = “messenger”) is no ordinary angel. Nor is he Moses or Joshua, though both were foreshadowing Christ. Only God can pardon sins. This angel “won’t” not “can’t” forgive. This unusual “angel” is mentioned elsewhere in Scripture. Malachi referred to the Angel of the Covenant (3:1). God’s name is in Him, not Joshua. The people were to “obey his voice” and that included Joshua. Jesus, the Logos (Word of God) is the Author of our salvation, not Joshua. Before He came, Jews may have guessed that this angel was Joshua, and indeed Jesus shares that name, meaning “salvation.” But Jesus is the unique Messenger of God, who pardons sin and whom Moses explained would be the final Prophet. God commands us all to “listen to Him” (Deut. 18:15).

In the New Testament, those who have been baptized in "The Name" ... the name of Jesus Christ, have God's name in them as well. See Acts 2:38:
“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
notice its says baptize them in the name (the one name)
but 3 persons are mentioned - the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit
so why does it not say baptize them in the names (plural - 3 names of the 3 persons)

Thank you for this teaching from the Jewish perspective. Alot of us Christians do not revere the name of the Lord our God with reverence.
No wonder that the 3rd of the ten commandments forbids the misuse of the name of the Lord our God.
I have learnt something new today.
Heiser explains in another video the meaning of the 3rd commandment about taking the Lord's name i vain. It is not profanity, cursing or being irreverent as many think. It goes far beyond that. Heiser explains that when someone comes to faith, they are saved and born-again, they "TAKE" the name of the Lord. We call ourselves "Christians". This idea perfectly matches the exhortation of the Apostles to live in such a way that it gives glory to God. For we have His Name!

The first witness was :
John 2 : 19-21, In the temple יהושע Yahusha(Christ) answered the Jews saying; “Destroy this Temple, and in three days (( I )) will raise it up again.” 20, The Jews answered Him saying; “This temple took forty-six years to build, and You say You are going to raise it up in three days ?” 21, But יהושע Yahusha was speaking concerning the temple of His body.
Messiah raised Himself up from the dead, which only the most high יהוה Yahuah the Almighty can do!
The second witness was :
2 Corinthians 6 : 16, And what union has the Dwelling Place of El,Elohim(God) with idols? For ((you)) are a Dwelling Place of the living El,Elohim, as El,Elohim has said, “I shall dwell ((in them)) and walk among them, and I shall be their El,Elohim, and they shall be My people.” 17, Therefore, “Come out from among them and be separate, says יהוה Yahuah and do not touch what is unclean, and I shall receive you. 18, “And I shall be a ((Father)) to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to Me, says יהוה Yahuah the Almighty.”
And יהושע Yahusha Ha-Mashiach (Christ) is the Temple in which the Name הוה Yahuah most high dwells, He is the ((I am)) that raised Himself from the dead, & will be a Father to all who love Him, follow Him & keep His/the Fathers commandments, & those who follow Him in spirit & truth, are also apart of that Temple of the Redeemer; His living Temple stones :
1 Peter 2:5, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to El, Elohim through יהושע Yahusha Ha-Mashiach (Christ).
More proof in scripture : (after Philip ask Mashiach to show him the Father) :
John 14 : 9-11, יהושע Yahusha answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10, Do you not believe that ((I am)) in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words I say to you, I do not speak on My own. Instead, it is the Father dwelling in Me, performing His works. 11, Believe Me that ((I am)) in the Father and the Father is in Me-or at least believe on account of the works themselves
Note : the 2 'I am's' here in John 14 : 10-11
Isaiah here also tells us the coming Mashiach(Christ) will be the Father in the flesh :
Isaiah 9:6, For a Child shall be born unto us, a Son shall be given unto us, and the rule is on His shoulder. And His Name is called Wonder, Counsellor, Strong Ěl, Father of Continuity, Prince of Peace.
All Praise to the most high, the Redeemer & Father & Creator of all things in heaven & in the earth : יהוה Yahuah El, Elohim.

Were did you get the written forms "Yahuah" and "Yahusha" from? I've seen them a lot lately, but I don't know who or what source originated and popularized the form.
@@Moshugaani my understanding is the original name was given to Moses by Abba Father Himself as YHVH (Yod Heh Vav Heh). These are all consonants. Later the V (Vav) was given a “W” sound. So people refer to YHVH as Yahuah or Yahweh.I listened to a Rabbi teach when he asked Father to reveal His sacred name with vowels, he was given “YaHaVaH”. As there are multiple meaning as to who He is which are revealed in this sounding.
1.Yah in Hebrew means EL (G-d),
2.Av means Father in Hebrew,
3.Avah means Strength or source of means “strength” (from Germanic “aval”), “sound” and “voice” (from Persian “āwāz/آواز”), “water” (from Persian “âb/آب”) or “life”, “living one”, “source of life” or “mother of life” (from Hebrew “haya/הָיָה” = to be/to exist or “kháy/חַי” = to live/alive)...
4. BEST of all, Ahavah" means "love" in Hebrew!! Our Lord is LOVE.

Similar to those who refer to the Messiah as Yeshua Ha Mashiach (Yahusha or Yahshua), Yeshua meaning Jesus (German/English) or Iesus (Greek). Hebrew meaning of Yeshua is Salvation, with Yah in this name we can see God of Salvation. Ha Mashiach is The Anointed One or the Christ. ImmanuEl, God with us!

YHWH is also called the Tetrgrammaton which is the Tetractys. A 10 dot triangle which happens to describe the ratios of musical harmony. Sound has symmetry.

Should a Christian really follow the example of modern Jews regarding whether to pronounce the name of God?
Ancient inspired Jews used God's name YHWH (English Jehovah) all of the time. It is in the Hebrew Bible nearly 7,000 times!
(Joel 2:32) "everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will be saved"
This is verse repeated for Christians at Romans 10:13. Using God's name is a requirement for salvation.
If Jehovah did not want people to use his name he would not have told it to them.
(Exodus 3:15) Jehovah . . . has sent me to you. This is my name to time indefinite.
Jews not speaking God's name is a misapplication of Exodus 20:7 "You must not take up the name of Jehovah your God in a worthless way."
It wasn't commanding not to use God's name at all, but simply not to be disrespectful in using it, such as in cursing or swearing to something falsely.
Boaz would say to his field workers, "Jehovah be with you" and they would reply, "Jehovah bless you." (Ruth 2:4)
Isaiah 12:4 says "Give thanks to Jehovah, you people! Call upon his name."
Sadly, many follow that Jewish custom and have even removed God's name from their Bibles and substituted with "LORD" everywhere YHWH is in Hebrew.
The King James only left God's name Jehovah in 4 places. Exodus 6:3; Psalms 83:18; Isaiah 12:2 & 26:4
This has made God impersonal to many and creates confusion as to who is being spoken of since Jesus and others are also spoken of as "lord."
Psalms 110:1 Jehovah declared to my Lord "Sit at my right hand . . ."
is much clearer than KJV "The LORD said unto my Lord."
Luke explains that Jehovah is here speaking to Jesus. (Acts 2:34-36)
Saying "God's name is in him" is no endorsement of the Trinity doctrine.
Jesus is "the Word of God." He is Jehovah's representative.
(John 8:28) Jesus then said . . . "I do nothing of my own initiative; but just as the Father taught me, I speak these things."
This does not make him God any more than it makes Moses God.
Exodus 7:1 Consequently Jehovah said to Moses: "See, I have made you God to Pharaoh"
Verse 2 "You will speak all the things that I shall command you."

Genesis chapter one, verse one. The Narrator speaking orally the Scripture introduces God by THREE TENSES OF SPEECH "I AM GOD". That is God channeling through the Speaker, to directly speak to the audience. "YOU ARE GOD" that is the Narrator praising the God who gave him the Spirit that they can commune , professing that the man who is a teacher is getting intimate with God. "HE IS" So the same Narrator who speaks about God and then opens his mouth to speak as God , "Direct Mesorah" now he can tell the people about God, speak as God, and also as the Leader of the People who sworn in God's Name to be ONE NATION , the Teacher or Speaker, aka the Priest , can speak also as if he is all the people, or speak for any dependent among the people, showing a DIVINE PLAYWRIGHT. So God is originally in the VOID of nothing but God as One, the HOLY SPIRIT, his most intimate substance of identity , so God created the heavens and the Earth , and ONE SPIRIT OF GOD , singular, was HOVERING OVER THE WATERS. So God as an Doer of Deeds to Create, has substance or essence of one original cause, and His only singular Power, was the Holy Spirit to accomplish anything. So God is the Spirit, the Holy Spirit, which is not then as the Jews falsely say, ""Just a force for good".
God expanded to delegate figments of mental calculations as Angels, parted away from God, such that Angels would fall from grave and become Evil . So no Angel is God. The Holy Spirit is not an Angel. it is GOD in his original SHALOM or SABBATH , before any creation act, God was alone in the dark quiet void of nothingness, but God had His SPIRIT, a HOLY SPIRIT, which means, INDIVISIBLE FROM GOD , if you take away the Holy Spirit from God, he is not then therefore a God at all. So the Spirit was companion to a man named Abram ( Exalted Father) and a story of conversational behavior of doing deeds, gathered, where the Spirit summoned the Father "Abraham" to bring his Heir Apparent, his ONLY SON , the favored choice to succeed Abraham the Father as the Son who would be RULER over the Kingdom of God. So this THREE PERSON SACRED MEETING IN THE TENT, involved, a man whom the Spirit of God titled "FATHER OF MAN NATIONS", and this Father went to Heaven , and God as a Consuming Fire, possessed Abraham and so he was then Father to Israel, Father in Heaven. And then the Spirit who is GOD, he put HIS FINGER or HIS HOLINESS, the wholeness of God as Spirit, the Holy Spirit, to be the Immaculate Conception of God YHVH. And Jesus was born of the Holy Spirit, as God, in the flesh, and Jesus was not the acts of Angels , or a medium for an Angel or any other thing. Jesus had the literal fullness of God in God's Original Peace, in Shalom, in Darkness, without Creation , God is SPIRIT, the HOLY SPIRIT, and this WHOLENESS OF GOD as SPIRIT from ETERNITY TO ETERNITY , this SPIRIT came from Heaven into the Flesh and it was like a Walking Shekinah , the Essence of God was inserted and indwelling in Jesus that he was both a man and he was God. Jesus did not become God, his substance of his living qualities, was God Himself, inserting himself, like a CAMEO appearance, in the World as a Stage, with all the actors on set, God walks through the history of the World, as Jesus to show Himself, proof that HE IS GOD. 3=1
God gave us His name to use. Never have understood the idolization of a sound. Use is not misuse or abuse. Use of a covenant name is appropriate for a covenant people.
We end prayer ".... in the name of Jesus." Are we using those words as an if/then to get what we want? If I use those words, he said he will do what I ask! But which comes first? Who works for whom? Jesus said, "I only say and do as the Father tells me." Why should it be any different for us? So what we ask, one with him, will be what he wants us to ask for. So that we will only say and do as the Father tells us, according to his will, not ours. Therefore, he will do what we ask because he led us to ask it, that we would agree with him such that he would bring heaven down to earth - and manifest and establish that portion of his will. His kingdom coming, his will being done - on earth as it is in heaven. The scripture says that the Spirit will lead us to ask that way, and that he will most certainly do what we ask. Because for some reason, he waits for us to be in agreement with him before these things will come on earth as they are in heaven.
Won't we be more honest, truthful, willing and obedient to say, "...your will not mine." when we are concious that, one with him, we know we will be ending our prayer - asking these things in the presence of Jesus? Which must mean in agreement with him for the Father's will? Which must mean that we are therefore agreeing with the Father for his will to be done, and his kingdom to come in and through us to all on earth - as it is in heaven. Won't we be more humble with our prayers when we pray conscious of the intimacy of the moment? Yes! .... and may the moment continue unceasingly all day long!
56 "For whosoever shall call upon my name shall be saved, and so shall it be in the last days among my people.
But how shall they call on him whom they have not known, by whose name no mouth can pronounce?"
... "the Only Begotten Son, which is found in the likeness of
the Father and who, par excellence, received the same name as His. Yea, it is in him that one fulfills the words directed to me Moses, by the great Jehovah, when said: Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee
into the place which I have prepared. Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him
not, for he will not pardon your trangsressions, for my name is in him, and since no
other angel has inherited a name like his, is therefore, as excellent as I AM."
Per Wm G MacDonald, "has my name in him" is a Hebrew idiom meaning "he has my full authority". This a a description of authority given, not an ontological declaration.

Never understood why we would not use the name of God, didn't He give us this to use and to proclaim to the world? When the world hears His name ,used properly, it has redeeming properties.

So it is a gradual revelation , the Father and the Son and the Spirit is a story where the purpose is a singular deed, done by three Persons at a Sacred Meeting in Moriah , determining the Law over the factors of chance and times. So then Jesus spoke of Abraham as his father in heaven , yes, and Jesus came from the Father to be the Heir, but he was cut off. Now if Jesus was spared, the Ram would be the sign of protection over the natural life of Jesus, but Jesus was cut off, so Jesus became the Lamb of God , as John the Baptist predicted, "Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the Sin of the world" . He was addressing Genesis chapter 22 the MEETING of the Father , with the Son and the Spirit who summoned this traditional sacred affair. So then God is a Consuming Fire, then the verbal behavior of the Three Persons of God to this Tabernacle , which then Moses made an Altar and only the Priest went into the Holy Place with the Offering and expected the SPIRIT to show up and mingle all this into one. When that meeting happened an Angel would appear as a communication device to stipulate the giving of Law and Instruction out of the Sacred Meeting in the Tent. 3=1

Is Dr. Michael Heiser right in interpreting that God is in the man (in the verses that he quoted - Exodus 23:20-23, Isaiah 30:27 etc) when the reality is that it is the "Angel" of the Lord who bears HIS name and the angel is made manifest in human form because a spirit needs to be embodied to become visible to humans.

Is it ok to desire wanting his name in us. I want to experience what the OT called “the Lord came upon him”. Im not talking about just the Acts 2 experience (which Paul said was a worthy thing to want). Im talking about I want my identity to be in Him if that makes any sense. I understand the reverence toward the name and not wanting to blaspheme it but in Ruth, Boaz greets people in the Lord's name. Bible writers do a disservice by translating the name into LORD. That is not how the original writers wrote it.
Also, they hid the fact that Elyon was a different being by translating his name to be a title for Yhwh. Yhwh was under Elyon.

Maybe someone could answer this question for me. Did priest have authority on earth to pardon and forgive sins? I was recently in a debate talking about Jesus’ divinity, and I referred to his ability to forgive sins and they rebutted with saying priests could forgive sins and Jesus was just a priest. I know that priest could offer sacrifices on everyone’s behalf to atone for their sins, but were they able to just forgive sins?
Priests were intercessors between God and man. Representatives of God. So if a priest says your sin has been covered or forgiven because of a blood sacrifice or other sacrifice, really it's God who has forgiven the sin or covered them temporarily and the priest is the communicator of that message. Christ is a priest or was a priest and King.

It's because the Hebrew word for angel ("malach") is equally interpreted as messenger in reference to human messengers (Genesis 21:17, Job 1:14, 1 Kings 19:2 all include "malach"). Curiously, the entity who wrestles Jacob is referred to in Genesis 32:25 as a man ("ish"), but when the story is recounted in Hosea 12:4 he is described as an angel ("malach"). I think we can learn from this that an "angel" is better understood as a role than a species.
There is also an immense difference between "AN angel of the Lord" and "THE Angel of the Lord".

Now in Genesis One, God i s identified by the Narrator, as Creator, but also the story tells us that the Spirit of God was brooding over the waters. That is two manifestations of God, the Creator and His Spirit hovering over the waters. Then God made Adam, who was the Son of God. So that is aTHREESOME as long as the Spirit of God was with Adam, Adam was the third member of a Plural Majesty of God until he sinned, and so the restorative works of God takes the Spirit as unique and distinct from the Creator, since the Spirit is LOVE, but God also is capable of being the DESTROYER OF WORLDS. So God became distinct as manifold Spirits , and delegated t the Angels and yet the Spirit was the second person to the Creator, and then together, God with His Spirit, formed Adam and God made Adam in THEIR IMAGE AND LIKENESS, a complex Union , but yet God could part from the Spirit and become the Destroyer of the World, and so God is a Mystery best explained by the Holy Trinity. God is not like a man is one person, God is a complex unity of many , but three is essential to remit Creator , the Spirit and the Son , who was Adam. I cannot help it if you got a bad education about God, but the Catholic Faith can set you all straight. God has one substance , one eternal Being, but in that singular substance of eternal being is Many Persons , like a Actor is directed by the Author to do a play on stage, he can change his costumes and make many voices emerge from his one physical body , because as an Actor, he has Divine Talents.

Spirit is ambiguous , vagary , unseen, undetectable, formless, and yet as an eternal matter of causation , this Spirit transfigure it's potential power to form definite articles of matter in this temporal world, so that the cause of the Father being applied as objective to view and meaning, is Spirit, the Father is one of title, who comes of Spirit, to be, and the Son comes of the Spirit, conceived to be, of the Father and the Spirit in their way. So , all things originally are of the Spirit and have no form, but hold potential power to emerge out of nothingness to be a definite article. giving God a Talent of Divinity to be all and do all , as it were , God is Shakespeare, and directs the Stage and the Actors to play out his dramatic authority to deliver a message to the audience. So the Father is not the original form of God at rest, but Spirit is at rest "Shalom". All the same substance, the Spirit, transfigures under election by reason to become something seen in the world, for a time and has a purpose of telling a story or serving a placebo that only the Spirit in it's eternal darkness , timelessness and emptiness can answer, what is this that we call "GOD" the Spirit without form, but has portent to become all things in time, and has a reason, that men must assume is a Placebo. Before Moses , no man called God "Father in Heaven" it was an acquired Deed , that God as Spirit caused Abraham to have this revelation and then when Abraham went to Heaven, then Heaven had a Father in Heaven. So Heaven is the Abode of Spirit, without anything objectively seen. Like walking in a thick fog of light, you see the energy of light all around, but nothing to focus upon to see objects , only a fog of light, or you may not be able to see the energy as light, it is just absolute darkness . If you were in darkness you see nothing, but also if you were flooded with too much light, you become blind and you seen nothing, there is no difference between absence of light or absolutely light , either way, you are blind. You live in a twilight zone of shadows where in the sweet spot of just enough of this and that, you see contrasting shapes.
God as Spirit is Eternal unchanging, but ambiguous, there is nothing that you can relate to, but to say there is nothing there you sense is alive or meaningful, thus you are the limited observer , and what you see , you cannot understand. God gave of God to issue a Father and the Son and the Spirit, like a writer of a screen play , is a Divine Author, whose actors come out of central casting and wear costumes to expand themselves into many unique and distinct characters for a playwright. God came , being SPIRIT but conceived the World, and elevated Abraham to be Father and conceived Jesus to be the Son, but all of this is made of GOD's BEING, the SPIRIT, so you see in Matthew 17 "Transfiguration on the Mount". Jesus literally changes from material flesh to a blinding light, and opens to a Cloud of Vagary , and out of the FOG , comes Moses and Elijah. That shows how the TRINITY is a behavioral stratagem of GOD the SPIRIT playing out titles of significant characters required to TELL A STORY. So the ANCIENT STORY TELLER , was a PRIEST who was a SHAMAN and he was DIVINE to be a Narrator, and at times using his mortal mouth , he spoke as if he was GOD, then spoke about God, and spoke for the People, showing how he was DIVINE. This would align with Deuteronomy ch.18 where Moses says that 'Yah will raise up a prophet like me (Moses) whom you Must obey...' and this same passage is quoted by Peter in Acts ch.3 when talking about Yeshua.
