Prayers for you Sam-- 29 Then I said to you, 'Do not be in dread or afraid of them [or it] . 30
The LORD your God who goes before you will himself fight for you, just as he did for you in Egypt before your eyes,
31 and in the wilderness, where you have seen how the LORD your God c a r r i e d you, as a man carries his son, all the way that you went until you came to this place.' [Deu 1:29-31 ESV]
Let Him fight your battle-- surrender unto Him and He will carry you through, as a man carries the son He loves.

Heiser was the last big step the Holy Spirit lead me to after rebuilding my faith from the ground up. With Heiser's guided insight the puzzle pieces started falling into place. The big picture, the complete story, backstories, previous "meaningless" passages or details suddenly have significance that "plain reading" of the Bible just doesn't reveal, especially the KJV.

Fueled by the energy of the adrenaline release as they get up in the wee hours, before the sun, to find a Lite blinking, colorful Christmas tree, with a mountain of wrapped presents cascading from underneath its canopy..... Dr. Heiser's work has resulted in me being closer to The Lord than I ever thought possible. I'm no longer fearful of The Lord, in that I trust him completely to accomplish for me all that I cannot. Tho never completely gave up the basic reaching out to The Creator in Jesus name, I went thru the gamut of “spirituality” from a shined up version of Luciferianism all the way to atheism which ended with the struggle with my indigenous religions. God was faithful thru my journey and used Heiser to answer so many questions and show scripture as the cohesive whole that it is and finally put the spiritual hierarchy in an understandable perspective once seemingly only offered by the occult .. also Michael Brown - Jesus in the Old Testament, James White- veracity/transmission of scripture, along w Phil Fernandez, Walter Martin, & other apologists.

To give someone a better narrative to life that they can line up side by side with...you name it; mindless unguided processes, Gaia, the epics of history past, ism’s of all kinds, & especially to the seekers who await the alien invasion ! To cut right through the trap of ... “”if God is... than why...fill in the blank from completely uninformed to the ultra “”God ordains Everything even evil, type of fruitless rabbit holes.

_And their dead bodies will lie on the street of _*_THE GREAT CITY_*_ which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified._ (Rev 11.8).
_The woman [Babylon per 17.5] whom you saw is _*_THE GREAT CITY_*_ which reigns over the kings of the earth._ (Rev 17.18)
_”And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints and of all who have been slain on the earth/land.”_ (Rev 18.24)
_”Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her!”_ (Mat 23.37)
_for your [Babylon’s] merchants were the great men of the earth, for all the nations were deceived by your “PHARMAKEIA”_ (Rev 18.23)
Christ warned people to flee at the end of the age who lived where? NYC? Rome? No, "JUDEA," when they see the abomination/idol of desolation set up in the holy place/temple (Matthew 24:14-15) which hasn't happened yet. He also warned those about fleeing in winter or on the SABBATH (Mat 24.20) which shows it will be strictly enforced under the reign of the false messiah.
_"Come out of her, my people, so that you will not participate in her sins and receive of her plagues."_ (Rev 18:4)
Is it a coincidence in Revelation the harlot comes riding on a red beast in the wilderness (the Temple Institute in Jerusalem is preparing a red heifer sacrifice to bring back the temple ministry which in the Torah is prescribed to be sacrificed in the wilderness) and dressed in the colors and jewels describing the high priestly garment from Exodus 28.4-11?
A Jerusalem Post 2017 article lets the cat out of the bag revealing that Israel will be the capital of the nwo, titled “Israel and the unexpected new world order”
And Revelation doesn't say Babylon (Jerusalem) is a port city, that's a red herring suddenly being spread widely in an online campaign. It just says the smoke of it can be seen from the sea and that it has merchants ships -- which is just like in the time of Solomon (king of Jerusalem) who ruled over a trade bloc in the region and had fleets of merchant ships and was at one point even earning 666 talents of gold. The Jerusalem Post article from 2017 (see above) talks about a plan to do this again and even cites the kingdom of Solomon in comparison.
All nations (‘waters’ are nations/peoples as explained in Rev 17.15) will gather to where she sits in false worship as they did at the tower of Babel, but first a traumatic global crisis must be engineered to ‘bring the world together.’ My vid on the AC kingdom goes deeper.
Beware Babylon’s armies of false teachers, trolls and bots flooding the web with misdirections and diversions to NYC, Rome, Edom, etc, (or the old fave: attack the messenger with accusations of anti-Shem/Shemites) none of which are where our Lord was crucified or where the prophets were slain.
      More info from my notes:
_"And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all those who were BUYING AND SELLING in the temple"_ (Mat 21.12)
In Revelation 13 we have the second beast/false prophet who comes imitating the signs of Elijah to do 3 important things the rabbis expect Elijah to do:
      1) Renew the Sinai covenant marriage which in the Torah came with sealing the congregation with the mark of the Name of God in the forehead and hand in dedication of thoughts and works through the Aaronic Benediction as symbolized by the tefillin (Mark of the beast);
      2) restore the sacrifices which only those in the covenant could participate in with the money-changers and merchants Yeshua threw out (buying and selling);
      3) regather and number the tribes in a census as in the books of Numbers and Ezra by heads of family names (number of names/number of men).
These are expected by the rabbis for Elijah to perform before the arrival of their (false) messiah who will enforce the Sinai covenant marriage in defiance of the new covenant marriage announced by Jeremiah who said it would not be like the one at Sinai (Jeremiah 31). Hence, the law is for the lawless (1Tim 1.9) and we know the false messiah is also called the lawless one (2Thes 2.8). My latest vid on the AC kingdom has deeper info.

_In the Bible the only usage of the phrases “in the hand” and “in the foreheads” are all in the Law of Moses and refer to keeping the commandments, statutes, judgments and holy seasons or days given to Israelites in the time of Moses. The first reference is Exodus 13:9 where it states the Days of Unleavened Bread associated with the Passover were given “for a sign unto you upon your hand, and for a memorial between your eyes [in the forehead].”_
_The word “sign” in the above verse is translated “mark” in its second occurrence in the Bible and it refers to the “mark” given to Cain (Genesis 4:15). The biblical definition of the “mark” (or “sign”) in the hand and forehead is associated with holy days on the Mosaic calendar. The next usage refers to the commandments, statutes and judgments that the Israelites were to perform when they entered the land of Canaan._
_“You shall bind them for a sign [or mark] upon your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes [in the forehead].” Deuteronomy 6:8_
_The third reference is similar to this and is given in Deuteronomy 11:18. The weekly Sabbath is described as such a “sign” (or MARK) in Exodus 31:12-17._
_If we let the Bible interpret the Bible then the MARK (or sign) in the hand and in the forehead of Revelation 13:16-17 refers to the keeping of the Mosaic legislation - its holy day system and regulations for the people of Israel in the land of Canaan. Once I read & re-read the book of Dueteronomy and listened to Dr. Heiser explained, and then I understood. GOD chose them as his own people, he blessed them, he gave them everything, they repeatedly turned away from him. They betrayed him finally by crucified him on the cross ✝️ 😢😭😭😭. I was always confused because the Elohim from Genesis 6 had be chained in the pit, so how were they now at Babel? Jesus descended into Sheol, took possession of the keys of hades & overcame death. Set the captives in Abraham's Bosom free & now when we die we go straight to be with the Lord, rather that to Sheol. The angels will be judged. The Last enemy is death. After Satan is loosed for a "little season", he, death & all it's inhabitants (those who have rejected God's plan of redemption/restoration) will be cast into the lake of fire.
      1) Renew the Sinai covenant marriage which in the Torah came with sealing the congregation with the mark of the Name of God in the forehead and hand in dedication of thoughts and works through the Aaronic Benediction as symbolized by the tefillin (Mark of the beast);
      2) restore the sacrifices which only those in the covenant could participate in with the money-changers and merchants Yeshua threw out (buying and selling);

And this is what the Antichrist will subject the world to when he commences his reign in Jerusalem just before the true Second Advent. He will display to the world his supposed divinity, the world will accept it, he will sit himself with great ceremony in the temple at Jerusalem, and then proclaim himself the true divinity come from heaven to reside among men (2 Thessalonians 2:4)._

They actually fashioned the golden calf as a physical representation of Yahweh. They took the calf and called it Yahweh. I think that, among other things, it was another attempt at manipulating God like Babel, IMHO.

It was the ancient worldview, with “heaven” meaning ABOVE (sky) as the abode of gods (and today we know that stars are not “up in the sky” but light years away). Importantly, the pagan conception of gods is not that they are omnipresent, but rather localized, whether in the sky or upon the earth. Modern Japan still follows the belief in Shinto, in which there are thousands of gods, living in sacred places on earth. When Japanese visit a Shinto shrine they clap their hands to “wake up” the god(s) and announce their arrival (so their gods are not omniscient either).

Dr. Heiser, which Ziggurat and which Mesopotamian kingship period were you referring to when you were talking about Tower of Babel here? Considering that the king and his people at the time worshipped other gods, how did God communicate with the Sumerians/Akkadians/any other people's group that he had had enough with them? As a Christian who is interested in the history of civilization, I am still puzzled about how to reconcile events and 'protagonists' in Genesis 1-11 and events and kingship in history of civilization. This includes for example Noah, who as I understand is the same protagonist referred as Ziusudra/Atrahasis/Utnaphistim in other culture's history (here I am assuming that a great flood which created a catastrophic impact did indeed happened, although not at global level). What was Noah's original name (because I believe that it is a Hebrew name, which at the time of the flood, had not been invented) and was he a king or a priest in Sumerian or Akkadian kingdom or city-state? Thank you.

When confronted with scripture that reveals the supernatural, many spend too much time looking for a natural explanation of events and little time trying to grasp how YHWH intervenes in the natural world.

Hello, So many comments you may not read this but I think there is a need for some clarification on Deuteronomy 32:8-9 You say Israel doesn’t even exist yet but in verse 9 it says Jacob. Who also does not exist yet, if the writer is Moses. Would love to know. Thank you.

Very interesting! In ancient times, the ancient Israelite authors knew idols are not gods themselves. But they do also know that the demons (foreign gods) are real spiritual gods. The same thing about the sun, the moon and the stars that are like symbols for other gods. And the reason why God is to worshipped alone is because the Israelites were not to worship anything or anyone created by God except him as the only all-powerful Creator.

Hey Dr. Heiser, interesting stuff but I do have a question.
Psalm 82 is an interesting passage and your interpretation does seem interesting and was compelling at first glance. I suppose my main hang up with them being a literal divine council of "gods" is that Christ quotes directly from that in John 10:34 and both the context of how this comes into the conversation and what He states seems to suggest this passage was directed at men "to whom the word of God came".
I have no qualms with seeing essentially fallen angels as spiritual rulers over the nations of the world as well as much of what you say. You can see that kind of stuff in Daniel as well. Also, I find much of your interpretation and theological work rather interesting, in depth and accurate.
I suppose I just don't quite see the Psalm 82 council in that fashion based on what Christ stated regarding it. Maybe you can elaborate or direct me to a video you break it down more?
    Thanks and God bless.

I agree with you on the Psalm 82 understanding. To be honest, I disagree with Heiser on just about all of his interpretation of Scripture.
His rejection of the notion that Lucifer led a rebellion against the government of God which resulted in himself along with one third of the angelic host being evicted from heaven has really caused so much confusion and error.
In his worldview the "gods" have fallen so many times it makes my head spin. It makes God out to be a rather horrible Creator. He assigned all these gods (unfallen?) to rule over the nations and 100% of them are so easily swayed that they give in to temptation and allow power to corrupt them? Same goes for the Genesis 6 claims. They are so easily enticed by the allure of women that they can't resist not mating with them? Unfallen beings don't battle with lust. Unfallen beings don't witness the horrible results of sin and follow suit because they lack self control.
Now, unfallen beings can be led to mistrust and mis believe their Creator but that is far different than having irresistable urges. Their was one, and only one, angelic rebellion. The angels who remained loyal after the rebellion, are still loyal to this very day. There's absolutely nothing that could sway them from loyalty to God after they've seen the results of rebellion against God's government. Just look at what became of the fallen angels (one of many words that has been ruined by Heiser). Look how low they've stooped. How stupid would they have to be to rebel after they've seen the devastating results of evil? God have them free will but He did not create stupid angels. The devil loves these teachings about all of these different rebellions. He laid the groundwork for it thousands of years ago.

I have a question (I am looking for a time line). The Bible says that ALL humanity lived together and did not spread through out the world until the Tower of Babel event. Scientists, archeologists have been digging up artifacts in Australia that they date to about 40,000 years ago, cave art in Spain or France that dated back to about 32,000 years ago etc. If those date are true, that would put the 'Tower" event back that far and Noah even further. Is there any way that though the Bible said that ALL humans lived in one place together that there were some humans that were explorers, adventures, mountain men etc. that ventured out into distant lands? If not, then the Tower of Babel event was about 40,000 years ago.

    • @holyhyrax

You are never going to get an answer of how biblical history (and the theology that comes of it) matches with real world history that contradicts biblical history. All he will say is that the writers didn't know about Australia or France or things like that. As if that answers the root of the questions.

    Hi Michael,
I really enjoy both your short videos and podcasts.
As regards Ps. 82:6,7 I wondered, whether the Bible gives a hint to heavenly beings being judged to death and I found the following interesting verses and connections:
Rom 10:7 “or ‘Who will descend into the ABYSS?’” (that is to bring Christ up from the dead).
Revelation 20:3 and threw him into the PIT, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while.
The Greek word for "abyss" in Romans 10:7 is the same as for "pit" in Revelation 20:3.
So I wondered whether the 1000 year imprisonment could be a time of death for Satan and his angels?
If that was true, then maybe their ouster from heaven as described in Revelation 12 could just mean their losing their spiritual bodies, becoming men in order to die as men. But this idea is rather speculative. I know the Revelation 12 passage is commonly interpreted differently.
    Best regards,
    Thomas

Perhaps not all of them have rebelled? The faithful ones could still be on His council executing His judgements. In the age to come we are promised inherit nations as sons of God and replace or even join the faithful ones in this task, what that would look like is such a mystery as well.

And yes, it always felt a bit off when reading it as applying to humans because it did dilute His claim to divinity.
