      There is some great work done on those movies but come on man, most of the CGI creatures in Attack of the clones look like their made of plastic particularly Dexter from the dinner scene. They also made a mistake of not making a clone trooper costume because every time one of the clones takes their helmet off it looks like their heads aren't connected correctly and are quite floaty.

      @@CraigBickerstaff I highly disagree with you I think Dexter and all the creatures look 100% real I should say all the characters that is CGI. The prequel trilogy still looks 100% real to me probably just most of it is real real sets real miniatures etc. Watch some of the documentaries on the DVDs in particular. @@darthqui-gon5986 Look, don't fucking talk down your nose at me like that. I was learning CG around the time that Episode III was in production and I've always been the sort of person who devours the BHS material and I do this for all the films that let me not just the prequel trilogy. I've seen the work that they were doing at Weta on the Lord of the Rings, and compared to the work that ILM has done since the prequels the stuff done on Episode II is showing it's age. I didn't shit on the work, It's good for its time but even at it's time the character work wasn't up to scratch with the stuff Weta was doing on Golem. You look at all the character stuff in 2002 movies and they all have the same plastic look that you see from the characters in Episode II. That doesn't take away from the miniatures work that they did on that movie it's just showing its age and I think it's disingenuous of you to oversell it like this.

    • @CraigBickerstaff
      @CraigBickerstaff 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The irony is that he actually had plenty of limitations just from having the original trilogy there to dictate certain aspects of the story. He chose to ignore that as well! The result is that he had to go back and make even MORE changes for the DVD release. Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru should have been much bigger characters in the prequels but based on Attack of the Clones Anakin barely even spoke to either of them. Obi Wan describes Anakin as a warm loving friend but in the prequels, he's a self-obsessed arrogant jerk. George didn't even bother to cast a Jango who can do an American accent so that it would fit with Bobba.

      This is why they started showing previz/videomatics to the actors on set during Episode II.

    I like the prequels but George definitely went way overboard with using CG for absolutely everything. It made the acting suffer, and it so much of it looks fake that it can be distracting. Can you imagine how hard it must be to have a conversation with a digital character and they don't even bother having the voice actor on set so they can work off of each other?

    • @terragthegreat175
      @terragthegreat175 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      In terms of film technology it was most certainly revolutionary, but like many visionaries later directors took what George had started and refined/regulated it to reach maximum potential. George did the heavy lifting proving the technology existed and bringing into the world, but with time other directors have recognized the flaws of that technology and found ways to maximize the benefits of CGI without having it become a detriment.

    • @JohnWesleyDowney

      Sam, you obviously have not watched much of the documentary footage. I've seen plenty of voice actors on prequel sets. Lucas "bothered" to do that. How many of these webisodes have you watched? Everything you complained about has been contradicted repeatedly by what I've seen in these documentaries especially the CGI. They spent millions on sets and models that were NOT cgi.
