Nice shot and I have no doubt it was worth the wait. I like the fact that your shot is in tact and not all cut up. It is actual footage one would see when rail fanning. Keep up the superb effort! Dan css903
@wsuraifan The best way I could tell is from my searches in the past of what they sound like. They sound simular to RS3Ls but they are slightly deeper sounding than RS3Ls are.
@css903 Thanks for the kind words, when shooting any video I do my best to execute the basics of videography such as making sure the camera is white balanced, the iris set to the correct level, and that my camera is also in focus. Also, with a fluid head on my tripod, panning shots of rollbyes are now much easier to shoot. Thanks for watching my railroad packages, I appreciate the input.
HAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA - thats me! We stopped so my condustor could cut most of the logs off and the horn is a badly tuned M3... The 2314 is really good at getting car alarms - and, on a completely unrelated note, is my favorite GP39-2 on the property.
@svinehunden Railroad tracks, built into roads are not as common as they used to be in the United States. Out side of public transportation "Light Rail" the majority of tracks have been torn out of the streets.
@wsuraifan That was almost 4 months ago.... I have NO idea. They may have been changing brake shoes (even though I usually did that) or something. As far as the Oakways go, they're slowly starting to reappear out west - BNSF kept the lease on 50 of them, so there are 50 Oakways left - the other 50 went into the GMTX fleet and basically lost all identity. You can tell they're former Oakways, but alot has been painted out on some of them, including the EMD 3 which is now GMTX 9041 :(
@css903 Thanks, I just might move away from the video packages back to full length trains, the hd video takes up more memory and we are only limited to 2gb file size, and I don't want to compromise quality.
@css903 You raise a good point. In some of my other railroad packages most notably those packages that contain "shuttle trains" aka grain trains, hotshot intermodal trains, or coal drags that average 80-125 rail cars plus motive power, do you mind that I cut the length of the train down to 15-20 cars plus motive power, in order to show footage from multiple locations? Or would you rather watch one of these longer trains in their entirety i.e. 80-125 cars plus motive power?
@CSXRP I wish I had a little more knowledge about train horns, but I couldn't tell you what kind of whistle is on the locomotive. I might have to consult some of my friends on youtube, maybe they could tell me. I was wondering, what are the indicators that this might be a M3 horn?
Jennifer, The tortoise & the hare I know the general moral of the story, but if you don't mind me asking how does this analogy apply to the video? John
nice video. I just shot the 2314 leading the Albina Local and the Hillsboro Switcher in the Portland area yesterday. Question, Have you seen the 3051 over there recently?
@svinehunden originally I was going to shoot some river footage, but I happened to spot this train. I waited for about 2 1/2 hours, but I finally got my footage.
@csxt6573 If I remember correctly a some mechanics had to come out and take a look at the locomotive, what was going on with the unit. By the way I like your video dedicated to the oakway units how many are still in service after 2008?
Have you tried DVX compression software. Since I started posting HDV, I have used DVX with great results and I still have 1080 HDV. I am at dfm@sscom.org and would rather comment there since its my own isp. Dan

Fabulous - great sound - also thanks for recording the sound of the engine just ticking over - I could listen to that all day - marvelous sound
Nice catch and what I think is a M3 horn.
nice catch and video.

@TRAINMANCW Thanks, I thought the P&W 2314 was a gp38, but I did not see any indication of the model on the locomotive.
Nice catch, love that classic EMD bell!!

@wsuraifan Port of Tillamook Bay RailRoad, a very beautiful, scenic line.

This is a Nathan Airchime K3LA horn.
Large fuel tank!
@7k4jpj Thanks, I would guess that the locomotive has a 4000-5000 gallon fuel capacity.
@NapierNimbus The microphone in my new sony hd camera, produces nice audio.
@daltonauto what is the POTB?
Port of Tillamook Bay.
Super why the tortoise & the hare.

Have you ever been to the POTB?
@eddieg749 Thanks
