Hey just wanted to point out that the new Model 3 RWD you tested only had 9 speakers. The AWD and Performance models come with the 17 speaker setup. All RWD Model 3s according to Tesla website come with the 9 speaker setup. So it's good to hear the base sound system is still good
I am in the same situation, with a 2018 a bit over 80k miles on it with FSD. I love this car but I don't see me swapping it out for a while more. Now that I work from home, it only get driven about 2500 miles a year now. Our Model Y the wife drives is our primary car now. So getting a new one, just doesn't make sense at this point. Even for only 5-10k more.
Consider that the HW4 or AI4 chip may be necessary for complete FSD. And who knows if Tesla will do free FSD transfer again after this point. Plus they're running the 1.99% apr promo. Pretty good time to make the jump if you're financially able to
Anyone looking at a Camry, higher optioned Malibu/Accord/Maxima/Mazda6/VW, ought to spend some time with this Tesla Model 3 variant. As owner of two (soon to be three) Teslas, when I have been in these sedans, decision is clear for Tesla. For the new potential owner of a EV, check this out. Can’t go wrong. Many millions of 3/Y platform already on the road.
Got my ultra red RWD with a €2950 incentive for €41000 including 20.000 free kilometers (here in the Netherlands). Ultra red is a €2000 option over here. I built in an auto close for the frunk.
Wait a minute. I have a 2022 model 3 long range and Tesla was offering me 20k 4 months ago. Are you looking at what the SALE price for a 2018 is??? Not the BUY price.
I also still have an ‘18 Model 3 with FSD (but a dual motor) and it has been flawless. I have since purchased a ‘24 Ioniq 6 and ‘23 R1S quad motor and the technology in my OG Model 3 is still superior to both of the newer stablemates. At least as far as self-driving and UI (with updates) goes. It’s remarkable that this 6 year old car has stayed this fresh and fun to drive.
Nice physical comparison, found lots of new info. That refresh looks amazing. I say trade it if you haven’t already. Mods don’t add value much. People usually part out to maximize on their mods. Just ordered the RWD LR today, even more excited after this video.
So drastically cheaper than the UK with zero tax credit available . Basic entry level is £39990 = $51400 with the performance at £59990 =76,996.14 USD… that’s ridiculous
Great content as always. At Carvana you were likely browsing as a potential buyer looking at listings. The price listed there isn't the price they will pay to buy it from a seller. Just as KBB's trade in value at around $20k. The dealer would probably sell it at around $23-25k.
The speakers on the roof crossbeam, and the camera shortcut on the wheel are a plus. Tesla improving on what was already an awesome car 🤔. My wife has a 2023 Model 3, can’t wait to get her this one. The LR RWD w/that range number is an awesome deal, is that an LFP battery? 🤔.
If you leave the FSD on yours you can value it at around $5k. Right now you can buy the M3P for $54,990. If you choose any color (Red is $2k) which removes the $7,500 tax credit, but if you choose the FSD option Tesla will keep the price for the car at $54,990 with paint option to qualify for the tax credit, so If you were going to get FSD, you are basically paying $6k for FSD if you choose the Red Paint. More expensive than the RWD Long Range, but lots of value in the purchase if the budget can swing it and you like Bespoke Performance Design AWD with Performance Drive Unit Sport Seats Adaptive Suspension 20'' Forged Wheels Track Mode V3 Just food for thought. Keep up the great content!
You counted the FSD twice. In your sale price and also a transfer to the new model. All in all, go for it. Even if the diff is $15-20k, where are you going to get a car equal to the new model 3 for that price, AND how long will you drive it before you can sell it for the price you got it for? Also, come November you may not have the $7500 credit anymore. Pull the trigger and transfer the FSD... thank me later 😊
@jamespaul2587 lol , by then Robotaxi should 2-5x value of Tesla's w/FSD and if not, we can all direct our concerns to Elon. Edit: misread. Maybe an extension, but new FSD transfers are (imo) super unlikely at this point.
@qwazy01 FSD transfers are a common sales tactic for end of quarter pushes, especially in times of reduced demand, as we are seeing now with people waiting for Model Y refresh
Hey Guys, I just watched this vid. Well done except for two important factors. Ooops, you did mention the FSD transfer worth 8K. The one thing not mentioned is that with a new vehicle, you get a new 3 year factory warrantee. Those two factors (besides all the new features too numerous to mention) are what made me trade in my 2020 Model 3with 27000 miles and new tires on it. I had to have my front speaker, a $59.00 part replaced and it cost me over $400 because of the labor fee. Well done videos.
Great commentary! Loved the comparison of the two models. I too have a 2018 LR 3. My milage is 35000. I upgraded the wheels, struts for rear trunk for faster opening, tinted all windows with 3M heat reducing film except roof and puddle lights and replaced the tires. I also put a clear protection wrap on front.& side rocker panels. The 3 is in great condition. I was thinking of purchasing a Y and moving FSD to the Y. Tesla offered me $20K for trade in and I thought that was too low. I could sell it outright for $25K but Tesla wouldn't transfer the FSD if I did that. So, I'm waiting for the Y Refresh or Juniper
The ambient light strips looks good when the light is on. They couldn't withstand the Florida summer heat. My front door light strips start to develop small cracks and growing after having the car for over a month. I requested a warranty service from Tesla, but they tried to blame that using interior cleaning products that contain alcohol, silicone...would damage the interior. However, the cracks are only on the front doors light strips. The dash and rear doors light strips are perfectly fine. Tesla service will push this on customer pay service if you want to get your new car look new again.
Hey @ItsKimJava. Great video as always!! I wish Tesla would refrain from including the gas savings information because it can vary quite a bit. Also it can be misleading at first in the website. The tax credit savings is good though. Most people don't factor in the total cost of ownership, (which they should!) which may includes gas, insurance, maintenance, etc. They want to know the out the door price and payments if financing.
Love your content! Note that the Real Wheel Drive Model 3 Standard Range doesn't qualify for the $7,500 tax credit, the savings on the Rear Wheel Drive is from gas savings. You can confirm this in the configurator by clicking "Customize" and changing the "Annual Mileage" figure to "1". That said, the LR RWD that does qualify is an amazing value with 0-60 in 4.9 seconds and 363 miles of range.
However, not everyone can qualify for the 7500. Before, there were no income restrictions. Can you qualify for those incentives? If not, what would you do then?
You can transfer the FSD but then the value of your 2018 goes down by $2-$3K. I think once all is said and done, the delta for a trade-up is more like $11-12K. But it's probably worth it because the resale value of a 2024 is always going to be higher than that of a 2018.
@kenhiett5266 Yes. He reinvented the car. Reinvented drilling tunnels. Reinvented polluting the air with rackets that go nowhere at the expense of taxpayers funding $1.5 billion. Stopped 👅
We ordered the new model 3 rwd long range last month. still waiting to receive the car. is there a way to track the actual car by using the vin? I know with bmw I was able to track my order with the vin.
Beautiful refresh. Can someone confirm the number of speakers on the LR RWD? Seems like others reported the audio did not get the total 17 speakers in the refresh Model 3 RWD.
Even closer to $10k to have zero miles, all new warranty, better range, AND better looking? I'm thinking it's worth it and I'm considering it, if they get a better interest rate. I'm in a 2021 with 52k miles. And I do feel more of the new style out, will age ours even more.
What about the mileage difference between the wheels. The 18 inch are almost 50 miles more than the 19 inch chrome. I like the look of the 19 inch, but not the mileage penalty.
Your Tesla prices are amazing. In the UK, RWD £39,990, Long Range AWD £49,990 and Performance is £59,990, so 50% extra vs US that is just 25% between RWD and performance. I can't believe how the Long Range RWD is cheaper than standard RWD as well! I have the RWD version and absolutely love it. But if I had the option the RWD long Range would be the one I would have.
the thing that sucks most about the European vs. US version is the battery. the LG battery from what I've seen kinda sucks compared to the Panasonic one in my M3P. I'm super glad we didn't get that LG
Nice review, one thing I really like is that the new model 3 is much quiter than the 2018 model 3. I have driven my friend's model 3 several times when it was new in 2018 and IMO the model 3 was too noisy.
I’m considering trading my 2018 and doing the FSD transfer. New will come with 100 extra miles of range at 363 miles, 4 year warranty, heat steering wheel, cooling seats, rear seat monitor, hardware 4, quieter.
You’re looking at Carvana sale prices not offers, they’ll offer you $5k less than the sale price. Also CarMax does not want to buy any teslas basically and giving horrible offers for trades
As someone who traded in their 2019 3 for a 2023 Y keep the 2018 3 for the hex pattern in the frunk. You'll miss it more than you know. Also, aren't you curious what's coming out next summer?
I new to ev world.currently own 2023 f150 lightning xlt extended range and 0-60 in 3.8 sec making such amazing daily driver.i think you should wait till new model y comes.or get new model 3 performance. I think ev should be as fast as possible
Wait, what? You mean you wouldn't take advantage of Tesla's limited time offer of being able to transfer your FSD from your 2018 RWD Model 3 to a brand new refreshed 2024 Model 3? If you sold your 2018 M3 WITHOUT the FSD, what would Carvana give you? If you sold your 2018 and managed to actually get $25,000 for it, but you sold it with the FSD, then bought a brand new 2024 Model 3 LR RWD for $5,000 or $6,00 more, plus had to shell out $8,000 more for FSD, then that would be $14,000 more and then it's not quite such a good deal.
Estimate it at Tesla! They will cut this sale value to half! Specially if you transfer FSD. I traded in mine for not willing to deal with private sale, but gave up on FSD and accepted 5k more on my tradein.
I don't understand why my Model 3 blue color rear wheel drive 2023 model with 8k miles only worth 25k while Carvana offers 2018 model for about the same price?
Going through this exact same dilemma from 18 with fsd awd to '24 m3 awd.. the price you are looking at ibclude 5k gas savings which is moot in our case, fyi.. But noise reduction, hw4 , nice interior and dual display and isolated sound system are all very tempting. I am really in for a model x, but not to thrilled with current X wanted to wait for the X refresh. But then again the price may be much higher next year than now and likely no fsd transfer. Soooo hard to decide. Also ur carvana price maybe the buyers price? If you try to sell it comes less atleast for me it was 22k.
Notice the extra $5,000? Fuel savings will not be that much better than your 2018. Same sale value for my 2018 the cost difference with tax is over $15,000 not $5,000. Can’t trust your evaluation??
Different strokes. You retro-fitted a yoke? That, and what is "ambient lighting" if not light whose ambiance illuminates other things in your cabin? It was never meant to be multi-colored disco lights. Seeing the light source really makes a joke of "ambient". Lots to like (sound, range), too, but hard to go from a Model S/X to something that feels almost too simple.
I have 2018 model 3 performance with FSD, only 44k miles, I would upgrade to the new Model 3 but I need a bigger car, The model Y is not refreshed yet and the Model X is too much $ and I don't like it as much, I drove the Rivian R1S yesterday and I loved it! But If I switch the only thing I would miss is the FSD.
We also have a 2018 M3 and I’m tempted by the long range and quiet cabin of the 2024 model. However, I’m struggling mightily with the Taint of Elon, and I’m more likely to go with a competing (likely inferior) brand just to flick that booger once and for all. Any advice about that?

Guys, when you show prices please don’t count the $5000 est gas savings, some of us are coming from another tesla, so no savings to be had.
Its annoying!!
that's really fraud of tesla that hate
True, but this 363mi range Model 3 really is $34,990 without the gas consideration.
Yeah, if they calculate in the gas savings, they should calculate the 300% increase in insurance premiums.
Mines gonna be more like 10k tbh

Different taxes and import laws make for car price.
Here in Quebec its about 20% more than in the us taxes included.
I get that, we have 20% VAT tax here, taking VAT into account that still makes our basic price £10000 over.
Markets be markets. Obviously a strong market demand for Tesla’s in the UK so that dictates the price
We have the same thing in the US with European cars, they are typically more expensive here even with the models that are manufactured here.

I love my 2021 TM3LR and will not exchange it any time soon. I rather buy this summer the 4yr/80000km warranty extension from Helvetia.
Smoked headlights & taillights look great on the New Model 3. Is there a kit or did you have it done? Thx
The price will only get better. Your car has already depreciated a lot. Waiting won’t hurt
Is that prismatic paint? Is that a stock option? It's wicked
Go for it. You’d be happy you did.
How much would the car insurance go up if you trade up?
As someone who traded in their 2019 3 for a 2023 Y keep the 2018 3 for the hex pattern in the frunk. You'll miss it more than you know.
Also, aren't you curious what's coming out next summer?
You'll miss the hex pattern more than you know? Kindly explain why? You only see this when the funk lid is open?
@@wilborville I'm sort of kidding, but every time I open my frunk's hood it's sad
Do you miss not having the turn signal arm
I new to ev world.currently own 2023 f150 lightning xlt extended range and 0-60 in 3.8 sec making such amazing daily driver.i think you should wait till new model y comes.or get new model 3 performance. I think ev should be as fast as possible
How are you getting $25k for a 2018 M3 RWD with 75k miles? I've gotten quotes of $20-21k for my 2019 Model 3 Performance with 63k miles.
How often EVs need to replace batteries on average?
On average, never. Tesla batteries are rated for a million miles and almost always retain around 80% of their rated range after 200k miles.
i hate the new stalkless controls - i would retrofit that ASAP if I got a new onee
Need to sort the wrap out can see so many points where it’s lifting
I agree with you, it also seems that they did it in an unprofessional way
Estimate it at Tesla! They will cut this sale value to half! Specially if you transfer FSD. I traded in mine for not willing to deal with private sale, but gave up on FSD and accepted 5k more on my tradein.
So does the Long Range RWD come with the upgraded sound system with 17 speakers and 2 subwoofers?
No only the AWD comes with 17 speakers
I don't understand why my Model 3 blue color rear wheel drive 2023 model with 8k miles only worth 25k while Carvana offers 2018 model for about the same price?
What is the color of the wrap on the 2024 Model 3?
Satin Flip Psychedelic
I absolutely love my 2016 model S.
Notice the extra $5,000? Fuel savings will not be that much better than your 2018.
Same sale value for my 2018 the cost difference with tax is over $15,000 not $5,000. Can’t trust your evaluation??
Looking at what carvana is selling them for is not the same as what they would buy yours for.
Different strokes. You retro-fitted a yoke? That, and what is "ambient lighting" if not light whose ambiance illuminates other things in your cabin? It was never meant to be multi-colored disco lights. Seeing the light source really makes a joke of "ambient". Lots to like (sound, range), too, but hard to go from a Model S/X to something that feels almost too simple.
with my driving efficiency, i can get up to 390 miles on it. it's an insane car
Yep, extra miles!
Would a buyer also get $4k govt incentive buying your 2nd hand car?
We also have a 2018 M3 and I’m tempted by the long range and quiet cabin of the 2024 model. However, I’m struggling mightily with the Taint of Elon, and I’m more likely to go with a competing (likely inferior) brand just to flick that booger once and for all. Any advice about that?
Keeping my money sounds better lol. You need solar! Drive that 3 until the battery dies!
