An old guy that use to clean our windows when I was a kid, swore by "sweatbands" to keep his hands warm Actually, his wife use to use the elasticated tops of old socks, those that had hole's in them, to make his wristbands. The theory was, if you keep the sweat point at the wrist warm, your hand stayed warm, mind you have to keep them dry Guess that's partly why fingerless gloves work Geoff
Just watched your podcast........ oliver isn't miserable... he's telling it as it is. Oliver for prime minister in our book. (We came to see you when you were still carrying SheShe. "The Coopers from Lake District" keep on. Your all brilliant ❤
Average of all 4 will be £895.00.. Oliver has changed, in the last few videos he has explained things and spoken sensibily. Nice to see him coming round !
Great video. You should switch with him. Let him push up, see how smart he is! That was a tough slog.😮 1200 average for heifers & 1050 average for bulls. Keep up the great work 👍
Get some warm gloves, not bulky ones, then some large disposable nitril gloves that you can fit over the warm gloves. Works a treat for me.Man in pinny, very sexy tell Oliver! Hard work for you getting them through the race, who says sheep are stupid.
Great video as always Sam and Oliver perhaps some goggles to protect Oliver’s eyes to go with the apron but probably asking to much 😂 I’m going to predict 1010 average for the calves but hopefully you’ll get more 👍
Heifer 1430 3 bulls average 1375. You've great looking cheviots. Hear in Ireland a Suffolk ram is crossed with the cheviot ewe. Makes a great ewe. Lol a said what Oliver said before he said it. He has you and the kids😂😂😂😂😂. Just be worried if u arrive into the house and Oliver has only the apron on....😅😢😊
Jim needs told that he is not allowed to fake illness just to stay home. He is bright enough to play that game for nursery, then it will be an issue for when he has to go to school. As a parent you miss the kids when apart, but going to school every day unless really ill is non negotiable.
I totally agree Sam, Jim bless him is only little and why not spend extra hours with him. Like you say school is different, but even then I know a mum, especially one like you knows best if their child is up to school. Xx
Do you have to keep some Herdwick pure bred sheep to breed as a condition of tenancy? They seem very small. Not much weight to the lambs at slaughter, but the take up grazing/feed and effort from you to manage them for little return.
@jimmyjohnstone5878 we only have herdwicks because Peter likes them. They don't cost a lot to keep over winter and produce a lovely texel cross lamb that we keep to breed off. ! I think that's sheep in general or shall I say farming in general 🤣🤣
Sam why don't you give each cheviot tup 40 ewes each and then switch them both after 17 to 21 days and then you will see which tup breeds the best lambs darling ❤❤❤❤
I'd guess an average of 1140... and I'd say your dipping set up was OK but you needed a few hurdles on the end of that outer gate to drag out into the pen round behind a mob of ewes ...aa the old saying goes work smarter not harder, but you're a grafter that's for sure
come on guys and gals farmers and non farmers. lets all get this wonderful couple (Sam and Oliver ) and kids get over the 8.000 subscribers. thank you everyone. ps keep up the good work Sam and Oliver. much love.

Not knowing what they weigh, I would guess £3.80/kg for bullocks and £3.40/kg for the heifer.

When the average age of the sheep farmer is somewhere around 63, it is no surprise that te-pari and pratley sell well.
