As the giant particle board project heats up Stumpy makes a great router lift and talks chisels. Then he reviews the Incra marking guage and gets Randy to touch dog poo!

Watching this is 2023, I'm surprised it isn't in black and white !

Stumpy’s early days. Ikea now makes furniture from corrugated cardboard, not fancy particle board.

I worked on a job doing miles of MDF moulding in a midtown luxury hi-rise. The dust inspired us and we discovered several new cuss words which is quite an achievement for a New Yorker.

This lift is awesome. I finished it two weeks ago and just finished my Son a blanket chest using the new lift. Great design Stumpy!

It is great to see the evolution of your videos. I am a fairly new subscriber and I just love your content. You are never condescending, and you can be as funny as any stand up comedian I have seen, without trying to be funny. Now that is a real gift. I had no idea that at one time particle board was super expensive. Wow, learn something every day as they say.

The lathe looks good to me! I know a professional Windsor chair maker who has used one of those for years.

We actually DID do it. The next episode has two different router tables I build, the one after that has a router fence I designed. While it is true that some projects are ongoing (the carving copier and the ultimate tool cabinet, for example) there was never a promise that they would be done at any specific time. I said "stay tuned" because when they are indeed completed, they will be on the show.

It's a woodworking variety show. There are lots of different segments. We can't fit it all in the title. But in the three episode router table series we show the router lift in great detail, as well as two homemade router tables, a unique router fence and lots of other stuff. Sorry you don't like the format, but we do our best.

Your Hilarious!...Rock on dude!....I built my shops "Work bench/ combo table saw out-feed table" out of 3/4" particle board over 25 years ago...including all its drawer fronts...Its still going strong today....It did not fair so well for my radial arm saw in-feed and out-feed tables even though I did indeed double up 3/4" board...4' is just to far to span with PB period for any weight bearing use that must remain true..

Nice for you to notch out some understanding about chisels.
I hope you got my link to my "free" lathe. Somewhat a Na Na Boo Boo situation. I only need to figure out jigs for the singular tube lathe. I know it is a horrible lathe according to most turners, but it is better than nothing and the price is right. The lathe table top is partial board.

This episode is particularly informative regarding particle board. (Get it? PARTICULARly?)
Now, nana nana boo boo, I got my incra tool for $3 bucks at the local woodcraft store because they didn't know what it was. So much for the "experts" there.

I thought this video was how to make a router table lift. Only saw a couple of snippets of the final product. Went to your website for plans but didn't see any for this lift. Suggestions, anyone?

Particle board, everything it lacks in strength and durability it more than makes up for in weight. ;)

Your timing is uncanny. I was just swearing at my router table last night trying to figure out a good way to add under table dust collection without spending a fortune. I'm almost done building one of your drill press tables and I think the router lift will be next on my project list.

Why did you have to go through so much talk about particle board & stuff? Why couldnt you have gone straight to building the router lift? I think you wasted so much time on the non-essentials about particle board. Just saying.
