The stock exhaust is really heavy. You'll notice the difference.
Now, open up the intake and re-jet it. Nice gains.

I've been running a screamin demon on my 2009 wee strom for 5 years..... many positive comments from the public that it sounded good matched to the V twin...... I agree.

Thanks after about a year of looking at slip-ons, this helped me decide, I just bought one! $50 bucks postage to New Zealand which seems pretty fair! Can't wait for it to arrive!
Had one on my DR650 since January and love it, it certainly does improve the power greatly, strongly recommend this exhaust. Very high build quality and perfect fit too. 10/10

@@FULLPELTAdventures Didnt need to do anything, left it stock and it goes very well, I use the sport baffle cut down in length, no issues at all.

My Screaming Demon arrived today - fitted as advertised - very very happy, the main bracket was blocked by my Ventura Rack system so have removed that until I can make a mod to re-install.

@@FULLPELTAdventures Mine is a 2013 model its a whole new bike with the extra poke. PS, I put the lower pegs on a while back along with handle bar risers, great combo.

I have the Barrett and I use it straight through with just the perforated disc. It’s deep, but not loud. I paid the extra because they should never need repacking, and so far so good.
The Barrett is a quality product.
Hi mate love the screaming demon Exhaust, you have inspired me to purchase one. I just bought a new Dr650 and it does need to beefed up in that area for sure and it looks like Pete loves the extra go it's given him. So once again thanks for all the information and the install video. Well done guys.

I'm 6'3" 220lbs and used to own a KLR650. I was never crazy about it. I felt that I sat way too high on it and was not really all that great for light off road riding compared to the DR650. I think the DR would make me happy.

Try and remove the snorkel I did it after I replaced the muffler and felt it gain responsive power also

I put a Staintune on my Honda NX650 by Dynobike. Without the baffle it made the smallest gain in torque and non in power. Hell it was loud and I would get a head ache after riding for a while. I ride now with the baffle in, and my fuel consumption has made a big gain.

Love ya work fellas, I was almost gonna this exhaust but then opted for the Musari exhaust from the same distributer for $350 incl. delivery. It does sound very similar to Screaming Demon exhaust. I tried without the baffle and geez it was just too loud for me. With the baffle it's just right.
If the clamping of those brackets are not tight enough and the exhaust feels too loose, you can move the clamp from either side of the bracket to the same side of the bracket.

Now do the BST Magic and you'll really notice the difference in performance. It'll also eliminate the popping . I've done two now and the difference is amazing.

Should've got a DB app on the phone and measured the sound level.
Have cut a standard exhaust apart , you wouldn't believe the drama the gases have getting out of the exhaust, suprising that the bike even runs!
I would love to have been in the Suzuki research and development and seen the response when after developing such a good bike, the exhaust team roll up with that monster and say this is the best we could come up with. An anchor that chokes the pig.
@@FULLPELTAdventures Pete, I removed all the baffles and re configured the exhaust with out any back pressure , used a 38mm pipe , welded it back together, wow , so much better , your new exhaust sounds sweet , and great value 😎, cant wait to hear it in your videos!👍

Definitely will David. The sound is actually not too loud if you ride conservatively. That should keep the fuzz at bay.

First time comment after watching many of your excellent videos.
For tuning the carb to get the most out of this engine you should have a look at Kyle Noseworthy's channel.
In his playlists he has a set of 6 videos on his DR650 and the last one is about rejetting the carb.
His manner is very relaxed and explanations very simple to follow.
He then takes it for a spin and you can really see the difference.

Is the catalytic converter part of the old pipe that was taken off the bike.... On the new muffler the pipe that bolts to the header and the muffler I assume is straight thru and that same area on the stock muffler could contain the cat.. That's where the performance gains could come from..

Well I'm sold.
Firstly the weight reduction is impressive, it all helps.
Second, the looks of it makes me hard.
Thirdly. The sound makes me even harder, and to have three baffle selections is tres' beaut.
Fourth is that for four hundy that is a cheap power increase which is quite noticeable straight away when he took off.
Fifth, it is Aussie even though made in Spain, but at least not Chinese.
My only concern is the packing. How long does it last, and can I replace it myself?
As an after-thought, what does it sound like with no baffle installed?
Didn't try that but I reckon it would sound close to the Open Race!

All this work on DRs making me want to buy another one.. I had a DR 350 back in 93/94 I think it was the last of the kick starters. DId you or Pete ever own one? It use to stall quite often. Unfortunately I use to commute on it to and that didn’t end well. Kept me off a bike for 25 years.

No mate, I had the first KLX 250, then an IT490K back in my day, and like you, after a long break from bikes, I have got back into it, and loving it, The DR650 is a great reliable bike that ticks most boxes.

Hi Mike, my Demon that's Screaming is 390mm.
I’ve a Delkavic, had to put an original back on for my roadworthy, Jesus it sucked riding it home. Power band was completely off, was like riding a Honda CB125
Delkevic is a great exhaust, but you must reject and cut the air box to make it work right.

@@royjmcc7 yep, that’s what I did. Thats also why it sucked so hard when I did the road worthy and rode home with the stock exhaust. It was tuned for the delkavic.

Does the DR650 have or does anyone make an altitude compensating carb for it? Great video. That Screaming Demon really sounds good!
Not sure... I thought you would just have to tune it to suit the altitude that you were in! I'm no expert though 😃
The Lectron carb is supposed to be very good and automatically compensates for altitude, once set up it doesn't need rejetting (hasn't got any jets apparently!). I think they make a kit for the DR650.
Ron. the stock BST carb is a CV carb. they rely on airflow to create a pressure differential to lift the slide. this has a compensating effect for changes in altitude. much more adaptable to altitude than a pumper carb with a mechanical slide action. Also Australia is flat enough that you can go from sea level to the highest mountain and not need to worry about re-jetting.

Sounds much better than stock, I feel like cars don't really hear me coming with the stock exhaust. Did you guys need to re-jet the bike to run this exhaust?
