brains could have a smell because substances have smells. not everything is because of evolutionary necessity. the obvious example is blood. That said, strictly speaking, your brain isn't in blood. Cerebrospinal fluid probably also has a smell, though you'd have to ask a neurosurgeon what that smell is.
Most things have an odour, but we don't necessarily have the ability to perceive it (most people can't smell water, but bears and dogs can). I would say our evolution lets us pick up on smells like blood and mold easier because the beings that didn't pay attention to those things didn't last as long.

Whether brains have a smell seemed like a genuine question to me. Arin was going on about how there's no evolutionary reason why our brain should have a smell, but blood and guts do. And its not even a pungent enough smell so that it could be useful to us for noticing more easy when we're injured, or whatever. It's just a subtle smell that gets gross the more you smell it.
I mean it's just biological substances bonding and bacteria. I dont think theres an evolutionary logic behind stuff like smell. p sure it's more like 'our brains conditioned us to f.e. like the smell of another person if they have similar bacteria culture (was a real thing last Ive heard of it, but as with the tongue tasting regions it might just be bullshit)'. so like, the reason we like/dislike smells is evolutionary, but the existence of smells is purely biological material reacting when fusing and all that.
@@frankie9373and the reason we evolved good and reactions to certain smells is because the beings who reacted to them outlived the others, and bred. If you smelt somebody's viscera, you stayed away. If you smelled petrichor, you could drink!

I had to google what Alembic was, and I have come back to tell everyone that I still do not know what it is and I'm more confused than I was previously. It basically stores animation data (and other 3D software stuff). My guess is that it makes loading things in a video game more efficient, especially when moving around. But it's mostly used in pipelines, allowing various people working on a project to work more efficiently. No idea why there's an option for this in the game though...

For prep team’s reference: You can enforce vsync from nvidia control panel 3D settings, or AMD adrenaline in performance presets, so that all games are forced to use vsync through the GPU’s settings. SCP isn't a genre so much as a community-made and community-driven anthology series under one gigantic umbrella setting, where everyone's weird anomaly ideas can co-exist and interact with each other (or not, given they're usually in some kind of isolated containment). It's really really cool! You don't like horror stuff, though, if you're reading this Dan, so I don't know if it'd super be your thing. There was a really really good SCP comedy series called SCP Confinement that I think you'd have really liked, but I'm speaking in the past tense because the creator had some stuff leaked about some weird something or other (I don't really wanna dig into it, it's very allegations-y) and apparently he deleted the whole channel. As someone who assisted with animal necropsies while working on a farm and volunteering at a wildlife clinic, I can't speak to the smell of brains, specifically. As someone who collects dolls I love this and as someone who enjoys watching the grumps cry in fear I really love this
Scary moments:

I was waiting for that entire corporate video to get "Asbest OS" and I have gotten exactly the gag I wanted
The fact that Arin got Mark’s tone of voice PERFECTLY I’m dying 🤣
Thank you for at least addressing the V-Sync issue. I complained about it a lot so I'm going to thank you every time I see you try.
*DAN, TAKE IT EASSEY!*
The translate option for your comment is - AND, TAKE IT EASSEY! 🤣
@@GreatWightSpark Right, because those pressures are gentle enough to leave individuals with specific mutations alive. They absolutely don't either kill you or leave you alone.
Alembics (created by Sony and ILM) are the older file format for animation caches and now everyone is moving to the USD (I believe Pixar created the USD format) 🤓
0:53 뭐야 삿포로 발음 왜케 좋아
Well, he does speak the language.
32:49 When does brain freshness end? When the brains has gone bad
My favorite episodes are the ones where they talk about being sleepy for a LOOOOOOOONG time
Don't worry, Dan. Screaming in fear actually adds years to your life, so you'll be doing Ghoul Grumps for ALL ETERNITY! That sounded way more foreboding than I meant it to.
29:42 Umm… brains smells like tooty fruity gum… idk it’s weird but it has an odd scent. Don’t ask me how I know this
DO DRUNK GRUMPS!!!! Personally my favorite moments are the Arin drunk moments and Dan sleep deprived lol Drunk Grumps would be so funny!!
Batteries batteries everywhere but not a drop to drink
The sheer immediate discomfort in Dan's voice at the start of the game, ah we're so sorry to make you suffer but genuine fear is Ghoul Grumps tradition. Thank you for enduring the agony!
Also has Arin played SCP games before? Either way this one is terrifying, I hate school and now we're trapped in one? No thank you!

Alembics in the context of computer graphics is a formerly proprietary (now open source) technology created by SONY that caches models to make load times quicker.
TLDR; it's a caching technology, it's basically asking "do you want to disable early loading of assets" 😅.
For prep team’s reference:
You can enforce vsync from nvidia control panel 3D settings, or AMD adrenaline in performance presets, so that all games are forced to use vsync through the GPU’s settings. This will avoid screen tearing automatically in most/all cases. You can override game graphics/display settings using this.
Oh what i wouldn’t give to see Dan react to the Mandela Catalogue
Yes
yess!
Oh now I remember why I stopped watching this videos and just have it as noise in the background
Because they take 90 percent of an episode to figure out the game. So nothing happens
That beginning really shows how much the *idea* of getting scared scares Dan more than anything else. How do you get jump scared by getting out of the van you drove in lmao
GameGrumps Lunch Break Chronicles, Day 301:
I had fuckinnnn pancakes because brekkie for lunch is peak and you can’t convince me otherwise (waffles are better but options are limited). 10/10.
I just wanna say, seeing your comments every day on Game Grumps videos makes me smile
Ditto
"I need to go into baby's room to continue the game. Well, I'm not gonna do that."
Is it me, or is this the first time Arin has actually outright refused to engage with a game? Not like he can't figure it out (though there was some of that too), but intentionally refusing to play it?
Sounds like Arin has beef with the game dev lmao
Oh to be in the room while they record a ghoul grumps episode. I wish I could comfort Dan while he's psyching himself out over *literally nothing happening*. The Atmosphere is always too powerful XD
You guys should play mouthwashing for ghoul grumps!
Dan’s going to enjoy ghoul grumps ending until we see the nightmare before Xmas intro starts playing.
You can find reuploads tho!
"It'sa babeh, Mei Mei!"
they fr need to play another seek and find hidden object game for christmas
The game needs the mic to work
Damn, these types of games always make me so sad for Dan, who *CLEARLY* dislikes horror games, and is still forced to go through these experiences, when he's not outright tricked to play them.
Dude still does it like a champ every time.
They should play Garten of Banban. It has jump scares and stuff but it's stupid as hell so Dan will be less scared
yesss
I really love the expressions of the grump heads in the thumbnails of videos like this. They're just so hilarious and lovely to me, so it's like the exact opposite of the games they're playing! :D
Dan! I’m so sorry. I know how much you hate this stuff. But it is so dang funny. I’m going to like and comment just for more scared Dan. It’s so freaking funny. Thanks guys! Sorry Dan!
When did LUPPY SPACE PRINCESS have a gaming channel 😂😂😂
Happy ghoul grumps everyone, the tradition of making poor Dan scared continues
Getting around to watching Ghoul Grumps late this year but the first jumpscare actually got me. Almost made me spill my coffee on myself 🤣
The AI slop playing in the training videos was such a bummer...
Hearing Arin yell "Winnipeg!" filled me with the fuzzies
ok, i’m 8 minutes in, making a wish for their protag voice impressions to transform into heisenberg eventually 🤞🏼🤞🏼
update: dang it 😔
CHICKEN IN THE DARKNESS REFERENCED! Literally one of my FAVORITE Grumps playthroughs of all time - I think about it a LOT.
11:30 to 31:30; Yeah I can see how if you don't take the key to the door you need to progress, you do just wander around for 20 minutes. I feel like we missed a bunch of potential gameplay, I wonder if that is a strategy to this, explore everything before you trigger the key. Then you have to strategize to get to the door and continue the game from there.
Dan...Calm Down.
-Takes note that the game uses sound.
-Immediately slams EVERY door.
Oh! I'm so happy you found this game. Please continue with it please! I love you guys. You're awesome!
You know what, I held a human brain earlier this year in my biology class. The formaldehyde smells AWFUL but the actual organs don't smell that bad. Probably different on a fresh cadaver though
Character:
*talks*
Arin:
"Am i supposed to hear this?"
Nothing we enjoy more than making Arin angry and Dan scared
I really hope they continue with this one
Took the entire episode for them to actually get the game up and going. Feels on par for Arin.
I'm from Winnipeg, and said out loud "Winnipeg???!" Right before Arin did too lol
Dear Arin of game grumps fame, hi it’s me again I saw you play clap clap after I suggested games like that and thought before ghoul grumps is over really sink into the dread and play Alien isolation with Dan, I think it would end up being a fun series as well
I really hope the Grumps do play Chicken in the Darkness again. Was such a funny playthrough
Don't simply retire from something; have something to retire to. Start saving, keep saving, and stick to investments
Some persons think inves'tin is all about buying stocks; I think going into the stock market without a good experience is a big risk, that's why I'm lucky to have seen someone like Mr Michael H Oliver.
Finding yourself a good broker is as same as finding a good wife, which you go less stress, you get just enough with so much little effort at things
His reputation already speak for him $150K last Month.
I paid off my $529k 2.125% 15 years loan in 25 months. Started in October 2022 last payment was November 2022. Now totally debt free with 3 paid off rentals. Love having no debt for the last 1.5 years. Thank you Michael Oliver
Started with $5,000 and Withdrew profits. $39,400.
As someone who assisted with animal necropsies while working on a farm and volunteering at a wildlife clinic, I can't speak to the smell of brains, specifically. However, organs, in general, when they are freshly removed, prior to decomposition, do get a bit whiffy. Of course, there are also other fluids involved, and those also tend to stink. Hopes that helps satisfy your curiosity, Dan. :D
Man I love backrooms type of games, I just love them! I'm so happy they're playing anything in that style
Don't disable the alembics! The carbuncle will eat itself!
Alembics are a file format that's used for a lot of different things. Sometimes cached animation or simulation data.
