I got to see them in Fort Worth last Saturday, and my first time seeing them live was 86-87 somewhere on the tour. When Bruce came out, and they started with Caught Somewhere in Time, I left like I was 15 all over again seeing them. I had not seen them for 20 years, and I made it a point to see them on this tour. I was very happy with the show and loved seeing them all over again.
Great words Nico regarding the negativity online. That Iron Maiden keeps touring in 2025, is a blessing that we all should appreciate. And I completely agree with your wish list, especially with Infinite Dreams, haven't seen it live yet and it's my second favourite song after Phantom of the Opera.
Here's my predictions : 1. Prowler 2. Bring me your daughter 3. Wrathchild 4. Afraid to shoot strangers 5. Wasting love 6. Infinite Dreams 7. To tame a Land 8. Rime of the ancient mariner 9. Killers 10. Hallowed be thy name 11. Phantom of the opera 12. Number of the beast 13. Fear of the dark 14. Run to the hills 15. Running free I'd love "Tailgunner" , "Only the good die young", "The loneliness of the long distance runner", "From here to eternity" and "Flash of the Blade" but it's impossibile they'll play them
At this point, I expect every tour to be their final tour. It’s only by dumb luck or god’s grace, whichever you believe in, that we get to still see them with this lineup. They’re getting old, we can’t expect this forever, and we’re lucky to have it for this long.
IMO this may be a 'quiet' goodbye tour - just in case anything happens to anyone in the next few years. If we get anything else afterwards, another album, or album tour, great. But I think with Nicko's illness, the band may realise their time is finite, and can we really see them pushing in 5 years when most members will be pushing 75?
Agree 100% with everything you say. Maiden has been my life soundtrack since 1982. Went to 6 shows in the UK last year, going to 5 next year, and hopefully seeing a show abroad somewhere. Great video as usual.
For a guy that suffered a stroke Nicko is killing it. Even in his current state Nicko outclasses most legacy acts and even modern acts. Bruce still sounds amazing. The rest of the band are still in top form. I love everything they put out, not a dud in the bunch to my ears.
You summed up my feelings on the band completely! People don’t realize how freakin lucky we are to have them still bringing out amazing music and performing so well! I was in awe seeing them on the recent tour.
I saw them in Tacoma in Sept 2024. Just amazing. The complainers were ppl living in the past and/or casual fans and wanted to hear number of the beast run to the hills etc. it was fantastic. And I mean come on... ALEXANDER THE GREAT!!!!!!
I've seen them in Brooklyn about a month ago and they were absolutely amazing! They were playing pretty much non-stop for 2 hours and absolutely rocked and sounded great!
Had to pause half way and praise you for how you speak about negativity on the internet. This is unfortunately a big part of all society aswell and hinders progress in all areas. People putting people down instead of helping or keeping silent. If only more people focused on what they like instead of what they hate... We need to be grateful for everything Maiden has done over the decades. ❤
My own personal prediction goes as follows (Keep in mind, im 100% certain they will play Trooper, Fear Of The Dark and Iron Maiden. I'd prefer Sun and Steel for Trooper, but hey, these songs are staples for each show. And there is no way they're not going to play Hallowed after not playing it for a tour) Intro: Doctor Doctor The Ides Of March ---------------------------- -Killers -Be Quick Or Be Dead -Children Of The Damned -Rime Of The Ancient Mariner -Infinite Dreams -Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner -The Trooper -Bring Your Daughter... To The Slaughter -Still Life -Phantom Of The Opera -Hallowed Be Thy Name -Fear Of The Dark -Iron Maiden -The Evil That Men Do -Running Free -Run To The Hills
you're completely right with what you say about those criticizing the band now... they ain't young boys anymore but are performing great just like they did in their 20s, and you can see they're enjoying it which is the most important thing... we all get old and can't do things the same way we used to do in our youth but that's how life goes, so nothing but respect for those people who still do what they enjoy and love regarding setlist... my wishlist includes: infinite dreams, tlotldr, childhood's end, deja vu, judas be my guide, the duellists, prodigal son, still life, sun and steel, holy smoke, tailgunner... with 2 or 3 songs from that list i'll be really happy
I saw Maiden in "Somewhere on Tour " back in 1986, in Montreal Canada. Then I saw Maiden in 1988 on the "Seventh tour of the Seventh Tour" in Ottawa Canada. Where they had a then Unknown band named Guns and Roses opening up for them. They were both amazing shows, and they were in their prime back then.
I’m so with you on this - one of my mates of 30 years who has been a fan of the band since early 80s ( like me) started a negative rant after seeing them in Sydney and I actually got pissed off with him - we are soooo lucky to have them still doing it !
Bruce’s live performances are definitely better than ever…. He has matured and learned how to properly perform and take care of his voice as well as his health
i saw them last weekend and Bruce sounded as good as ever. The whole band was perfect. One of the best Iron Maiden performances i've seen. I really want to see them do Infinite Dreams, 22 Acacia Avenue, Powerslave, and Killers
Seen them in Newark on nov. 9th first time with my wife and son. Came I from Texas. Wife went just so she could see the smiles and enjoyment on mines and sons faces from seeing one of our all time favorite if not favorite band ever. Left a full blown maiden fan. One hell of a concert🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Having seen Maiden 11 times including 3 times on the Future Past tour, this band astounds me. I will go as long as they grace the stage. I've been fortunate enough to see all of the songs by the band I love like Rhyme and Phantom but there are some other tracks, like Prowler, Murders at the Rue Morgue, and Cross-Eyed Mary would be outstanding.
Nicko was the drumbeat and heartbeat of Maiden. I'm glad he's now able to focus on smaller scale projects instead of world touring. I'm still looking forward to the upcoming tour and a new album in 2025 or 2026 I reckon. I'm glad I was able to see them 4 times in their current incarnation, which lasted almost 26 years!
I'm 43 so obviously I knew who maiden was since a child, but never ever listened to a single full album until this year, where I listened to the 17 in chronological order. These guys are incredible, and I'm so excited to go their concert in Fort Worth tonight.
I would love to hear the following songs on the tour next year besides the songs you predicted in the first list: 1. To Tame a Land 2. The Prophecy 3. Die with your boots on 4. Remember Tomorrow
I agree 100%. I think they have more new material in them. They have never sounded better. Wish list: Prowler Killers Purgatory 22Acacia Ave. Still Life Be Quick Or Be Dead
I've been seeing Maiden since the Somewhere In Time tour and I've had my share of deeper cuts but this is about as ambitious as I can see for this tour. There are a few songs I'd love to hear that I've not heard like To Tame A Land and Total Eclipse and songs I've heard already but not for years like 22 Acacia Avenue, Sea Of Madness and Still Life but this tour isn't just for veterans so I'd expect something closer to these and even then maybe not as many. Possibly the first 9 albums won't all get covered considering they're still touring 5 Somewhere In Time songs. Flight 633 Squadron theme Tailgunner 2 Minutes To Midnight Wrathchild Killers Die With Your Boots On The Evil That Men Do Infinite Dreams Phantom Of The Opera Powerslave Rime Of The Ancient Mariner Hallowed Be Thy Name Fear Of The Dark Iron Maiden Number Of The Beast Run To The Hills Running Free Wasted Years or Sanctuary Really can't wait to find out though. Also, so great to see you point out the Bruce was struggling with his vocals in the 80s. The massive tours destroyed his voice and for No Prayer and FOTD he started singing in a different style more from his throat. He hasn't sounded like that since coming back and for me that probably rules out quite a few songs from that era like Public Enema Number One One or Be Quick Or Be Dead.
Iron Maiden is the best band in my opinion. I discovered them in 86 with the Somewhere in Time album. I wish that I could have seen their current tour, but I’ll try to catch the next one. For a bunch of sixty something and one seventy something years olds they still rock!
1. Prowler 2. 2 Minutes To Midnight 3. Wrathchild 4. Infinite Dreams 5. Killers 6. Rime Of The Ancient Mariner 7. 22 Acacia Avenue 8. Phantom Of The Opera 9. Be Quick Or Be Dead 10. Bring Your Daughter...To The Slaughter 11. Run To The Hills 12. Only The Good Die Young 13. The Number Of The Beast 14. Fear Of The Dark Encores: 15. Hallowed Be Thy Name 16. Wasted Years 17. Iron Maiden Fantasy Deep-Cuts: Sea Of Madness Judas Be My Guide Remember Tomorrow
Just realised there's nothing from 'Piece Of Mind'!?!?!🤔🤦♂. Maybe swap out 'Wrathchild' for 'Flight Of Icarus' and 'Only The Good Die Young' for 'Die With Your Boots On' ??
You got the Alexander the Great shirt too! I had to have it knowing how significant it is. I covered 22 Acacia Avenue in the last band I was in (drums). Love that song. Innocent Exile is a great song, that was the name of my first Iron Maiden tribute.
I also want to give the boys a shoutout for not doing dynamic pricing and trying to keep the tickets affordable for the majority too. Gigs are never cheap now but these guys have a hell of a crew, hell of a stage and a hell of a show but don't pass the costs onto us. Some artists would be charging £500 for a Maiden show.
Great video. The song I wish, many people wishes.... Infinite Dreams. The best song they have ever made in my opinion. By the way this is my dream setlist or this tour. (1) Be quick or be dead (2) Infinite dreams (3) Public enema no 1. (It’s time for a Murray song in the setlist) (4) Children of the damned (5) Flight of Icarus (6) Powerslave (7) Killers (8) Afraid to shoot strangers (9) Rime of the Ancient Mariner (10) No Prayer for the dying (11) Phantom of the Opera (12) Sea of Madness (13) Iron Maiden Encores (14) Moonchild (15) The Trooper (16) Hallowed be thy Name (17) Sanctuary
I would take Bruce’s live voice any time after his return (even now) over his 80s performances, personally. It just sounds so much more polished and in control.
1: Remember Tomorrow 2: Prodigal Son 3: The Prisoner 4: Gangland 5: To Tame a Land 6: Back in the Village 7: Losfer Words 8: Sea of Madness 9: The Clairvoyant 10: Tailgunner 11: Judas Be My Guide 12: Be Quick or Be Dead I almost find it hard to believe they could consider another world tour. Playing any instrument and singing at that level at any age, is challenging, let alone in their age group. We're not talking toe-tapping Rolling Stones tempo here.
Nicko sorry for the third comment in a row. I'd like to share with the other comrades that on December 6th I'm going to the Iron Maiden show in Sao Paulo (na arena dos porcos sem mundial). It will be my second Iron show (the first in 2004). I'm happy to know that you are able to follow Iron on different dates. A big hug!
People who want to hear a concert sounding like the album, hire a DJ. I've seen most tours since mid 80´s, and it's obvious that Bruce really takes care of his voice and is more consistent than back in the days.
I'm worried about Nicko's health in the future, that's why I decided to go to 3 shows now at the end of November, 1 in Chile and 2 in Argentina, it will be the best week of my life.
I saw Bruce Dickinson (with his solo band) this summer and his vocal performance was amazing. He was playing at a festival before Judas Priest and I went there for Priest but this guy put on a great show to be honest.
As much as I’ve always enjoyed your tutorial videos, this was the most profound video I feel you have done yet. We are all so lucky to have Maiden in our lives today and touring at this level as they have. Rod Smallwood did promise some deep cuts in his original statement, and I am holding him to that! Up the Irons \m/
Thank you very much for saying that! I felt it was a very important video for me to make as I have very strong feelings about all of this, so I really appreciate your support. 🙏
I just saw both shows in Santiago Chile and it’s truly amazing to think how lucky we are to be able to see them live after 50 years of career, yesterday I saw many families and small children going to their first concert and in some way it was sad to think that my children probably won’t have that opportunity and that even with the years, these types of concerts will end for me. However, I did feel that the band is already saying goodbye, I especially felt that Nicko was saying goodbye to all of us, unfortunately the stroke he suffered prevents him from playing consistently and I wonder if he will be able to handle other classic songs that are more complex, I think that perhaps the band will make some accommodations so that Nicko can continue accompanying them, with some degree of assistance or backup, but damn, still performing at 72 in the drums it's madness.
"Innocent exile" may be one of my favorite songs in all of heavy metal, let alone Maiden as one of my favorite groups. However, even though I love the album, I just don't care for "Fear of the dark," the song. ("Hotel California"is the same story in comparison to how much I enjoy all the other Eagles material.) 100 % agree that Maiden are actually playing way better than ever, like they went down to some kind of UK crossroads and made a deal with devil. Yes that good. Thanks for showing us what Bruce can do live, I am way too focused on things guitar for my own good. Bruce is the best.
"he died of fever in Babylon....." i also could not believe how long Bruce sustained that last note... I was not able during the concert.... I agree with your likely list except 'bring your daughter', I think they will 100% play 'remember tomorrow' - which Bruce sang it so well in the 2004 / 2005 tour - and they will skip 'the trooper' because they played in the last few tours and they need room for other amazing songs of which they have tooooooo many! . My wish list: Transylvania + Strange World, loneliness of the long distance runner, infinite dream, still life, Purgatory, tailgunner, public enema number one, judas be my guide, afraid to shoot strangers, 22 Acacia Avenue or Innocent Exile any time!
Hi Nicko! Thanks for another brilliant video! I think that on the new tour the band should invite Blaze to sing songs from Virtual and X Factor, as a way of celebrating the importance of all the members who have already been in Iron Maiden. The songs would be The Clasman, When Two Worlds Collide, The Sign of the Cross and The Educated Fool, for example.
Thank you for watching! 😊 For the Blaze thing, I don't see that happening for the tour but I do think it's possible they do something like that for a special night or two.
Iron Maiden has always been my favorite band of all time. My band in 1991 was able to play some 30 of their songs, and we weren’t even a maiden cover band. It was just that fun to play. Long live Iron Maiden!
Hello Nico, here's my list of "yeah, right, in your dreams" songs: Prodigal Son, Sea of Madness, The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, Only the Good Die Young, Tailgunner, Judas be my Guide, Fear is the Key. Never gonna happen, sob sob.
He's still undoubtedly The Air Raid Siren and more than ever The Renaissance Man......and I absolutely agree with you this band has never been better. A band after 50 years of doing what they do excellently, does not regress. This band is like a fine wine. I grabbed up tickets and caught them on rOctober fourth in San Diego just in case it was going to be their last tour. Other than Nicko changing a drum fill here and there they were still phenomenal and doing it the way they always wanted to do it. You covered a lot of ground in this vid and make perfect sense in what you say. I will grab up tickets again for this tour and wouldn't it be amazing if they have a couple or a whole new album to play too.....I can have an infinite dream can't I?....Up the Irons and Cheers mate.
Being a drummer of 40 years I caught that too. It's because of the stroke. There are certain fills he can't do anymore. I saw them in Worcester, MA, my 21st time seeing them, and they were totally on top of their game.
I saw them in Rosemont Il and my god they still play at an unbelievable high level. The fact that Bruce still has his voice is mind-blowing. The next tour it would be cool to see some of the b-sides as me tion but also a tune i never seen live would be Cross-eyed Mary the cover they did of Jethro Tull.
Great video! Your comments on Bruce and the two little clips gave me goosebumps! 👊 Infinite Dreams was the one that made me fall in love with Maiden, and still one of my two absolute favorite songs, so I’m really begging the Iron Gods that Be we might just get lucky… Otherwise, I have fewer overlaps with your “secondary list”… I think the “milestone” songs we all agree, but my personal peeves (for the secondary list) would have included: - Prowler - Killers - Murders in the Rue Morgue (and instead of Wrathchild too) - Children of the Damned - Aces High (I’m biased) - Stranger in a Strange Land (why not again, need something from Somewhere in Time, right!?) - INFINITE DREAMS please, please, please - Be Quick or Be Dead (would recall a great ‘93 memory and an superb opening) Otherwise I’m more or less with ya on most of the “milestone” songs and indeed I’d love to see Still Life, and agree The Evil That Men Do should make a come back… actually, for me that would be one of the milestone songs… Up the Irons!
That song comparison is awesome! I think he is singing better today than he was prior to his throat cancer. He said in an interview that he learned how to take care of his voice a lot more than he did prior to the diagnosis. Still amazing!! I think Nico’s health might be the catalyst for Maiden to stop especially with Bruce, Adrian and Steve working side gigs in their other bands/projects. I hope not but to be able to play this music at 70 is already phenomenal. Love the setlist. I feel that this might be a greatest hits setlist as opposed to songs they have not featured live but like you, seeing Phantom, Hallowed, Bring your daughter and Infinite Dreams would be awesome. I’d also fancy Powerslave, The Evil that men do, Where Eagles Dare and of course, Running Free. Hope they get some North American dates soon once this tour is done. I see some traveling in my future. Cheers!
Your Alexander the Great shirt is so amazing. I need one for myself! And to reflect on what you said, we should definitely be fortunate that we're going on 40 years of Maiden given what has happened to Bruce and Nicko. RIP Paul, I'm still shocked and heartbroken.
First of all, I want to say thank you, Nico. As a young 20-year-old Maiden fan, you speak directly to my heart. I am so grateful to have the chance to see Maiden for the second time next year. For next year’s tour, I haven’t put together a personal setlist, but there are songs I would absolutely love to hear live. The Ides of March as an intro song would be simply spine-chilling. Remember Tomorrow as a tribute to Paul DiAnno would also be amazing to hear. Additionally, songs like To Tame a Land, Sea of Madness, LOTLDR, Evil That Men Do, Only the Good die young, Drifter and No Prayer for the Dying are tracks I’d love to experience live and, in my opinion, could inspire fantastic stage settings as well. Cheers from Germany 🍻
Bruce voice really is impressive, he did that prolonged note in Alexander the Great at the height of Bogotá with no time to adapt to the height, these guys are really in top form, real athletes of music. I personally like a lot 21th century Maiden, also a lot of non popular songs like Pachandale, The reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg, The Man who will be King. To be honest if they just came up with 15-16 totally random songs is fine with me, I enjoy everything they do.
I'm Spanish and I live in Spain and I've seen them 5 times on The Future Past Tour, 3 last year (Bilbao, Frankfurt and Munich), and 2 this year (Toronto and Montreal), and I think that even though last year they were very good concerts that I attended, this year they sound better than ever. Of the 31 concerts that I've seen them, the ones in Toronto and Montreal, along with Chile 2009 and Madrid and the 2 in London in 2018 are my favorite concerts, but I hope that the 5 that I'm going to see next year on Run For Your Lives Tour will surpass them, and that will only happen if they play 22 Acacia Avenue, Die With Your Boots On, Killers, Rime Of The Ancient Mariner, Phantom Of The Opera and Wasted Years, which seems to me to be the best song to close a concert. UP THE IRONS!!!!
I got to see it on the “Somewhere Back in Time” tour, the first time I saw them live. I feel fortunate, as I haven’t seen it since(5 or 6 tours?). It would be great to see it one more time, on perhaps their final tour.
Great video once again Nico! I could offer a whole list of unlikely songs that I would like them to play, but in all honesty a song I hold dearest to my heart is Strange World. It's a great retrospective song considering they've never done anything like it since and they've evolved so much over the years! It would also be good on Bruce's voice as a way to go easier on his voice mid-set as its not a particularly challenging song to sing
If you want it like the album, listen to the album!!! If you want to listen Iron Maiden live, you have to accept the human aspect of live performance, which is so difficult and hard. Sometimes it's got missed notes, flat notes, slower pace than the song actually calls for and sometimes it's even better than you anticipated. This is live music and it's the greatest innovation humans ever developed. I said accept the human aspect, but to me, it's embrace the human aspect. I saw them live on Future Past in Manchester and they were incredible. I'm seeing them again next year in Manchester and can't wait. For the set list, RTTH, NOTB are guaranteed but I'm not excited for those two myself. My dream setlist for this tour has To Tame A Land, Infinite Dreams & Clairvoyant.
I have to agree with Nico. I saw the SIT tour back in 1986 and then this tour a couple weeks ago. I am beyond amazed at the energy and quality of the show this time and doubly amazed at how well Bruce sang compared to how I heard him 2-4 years ago. I swear he sounded as good as he did back on that '86 tour. I'll admit I don't enjoy the later material quite as much as the earlier stuff, but still respect what it is and thoroughly enjoy it all live. I just thank them for keeping this music alive for so long. Up the Irons!
Great video! I was one of those skeptical, especially after Senjutsu album which I really didn't appreciate.... I thought that Bruce's voice was trying to reach where he couldn't anymore I really felt saddened, thinking the the end was near.... But Iron Maiden being my religion, I travelled half the globe to attend the Powetrip festival where I was instead stunned by the power and the quality of the gig.... Ti the point that this year I travelled the other half globe and saw them playing again in Perth where, if possible, they were even better....!! So you can now imagine the joy of Iron Maiden new tour being announced....!! This is my favourite set list! - Iron Maiden - Transylvania - Wrathchild - Killers - Children of the Damned - 22 Acacia Avenue - The number of the Beast - Hallowed be Thy Name - The Trooper - Revelations - Still Life - Two minutes to Midnight - Powerslave - The Evil that Man do - Fear of the dark Up the Irons!!!
My personal list for The next world tour: 1. Strange World; 2. Remember Tomorrow; 3. Prowler; 4. Only The Good Die Young; 5. To Tame a Land; 6. Quest of Fire; 7. Seventh Son; 8. Mother Russia. And a cover fron Jethro Tull ✌🏻
Ides of march 1. Aces high 2. Moonchild 4. Powerslave 5. Remember tomorrow 6. Prowler 7. Rime of the ancient mariner 8. Murders in the rue mourge 9. Children of the damned 10. Die with your boots on 11. Afraid to shoot strangers 12. Alexander the great 13. Hallowed
Wow...what a great video. Your feelings about the Future Past tour exactly matched my own. I saw them in Tokyo and was blown away by how well they sounded, 35 years after I saw them at Donnington. I would say they sounded even better this time! I was expecting to enjoy the old songs more than the new ones, but the songs from the Senjutsu album sounded so fresh and clear, especially with the amazing acoustric guitars and bass. The Writing On The Wall was one of the best songs of the whole show. That opening! Bruce's voice was incredible, too. He held that note for so, so long, I couldn't believe it. What a performer! I took my son along, who also has grown up with Iron Maiden, and he absolutely loved the show, too. The only downside of seeing them in Tokyo was that the security stopped us from waving a massive Union Jack that we brought with us for the Trooper! 🙂 Can't wait for the next tour. 50 years. Incredible.
I had the 1998 "enhanced CD" version of The Number of the Beast as a child, so I always see Total Eclipse as being the 8th track, right before Hallowed Be Thy Name.
Thanks so much for your wonderful, and very apt, emphasis on celebrating and being joyful about the high level of musicianship and entertainment, which this band to this day consistently delivers. 🙏
Agree with everything you said. Been seeing them since 1982 and just saw them again. Yes my fav period is the first album thru SIT but their subsequent work is different but still excellent. I've seen hundreds of bands since 1978 and Maiden gets stronger live, not weaker. Yes theyve adjusted within the vocals ,etc but it's still better than anything out there. ❤
I for one am very thankful for their continued touring. Just saw them in Charlotte, and I want to catch them multiple times on the next tour. Compare Bruce to James LaBrie. I expect every tour to be their last, and I savor every moment I get to enjoy them.
I've made this rough selection, of possible choices from each record: - Prowler (3:56) - Remember Tomorrow (5:30) - Running Free (3:22) - Phantom of the Opera (7:02) - Sanctuary (3:19) - Iron Maiden (3:43) -------------------------------------------------- - Ides of march (1:48) - Wrathchild (2:54) - Murders in the rue Morgue (4:14) - Killers (4:58) -------------------------------------------------- - Children of the Damned (4:34) - 22 Acacia Avenue (6:34) - Number of the Beast (4:25) - Run to the Hills (3:50) - Hallowed Be Thy Name (7:08) -------------------------------------------------- - Revelations (6:51) - Flight Of Icarus (3:49) - Die With Your Boots On (5:22) - Trooper (4:10) -------------------------------------------------- - Aces High (4:31) - 2 Minutes to Midnight (6:04) - Powerslave (7:12) - Rime of the Ancient Mariner (13:45) -------------------------------------------------- - Wasted Years (5:06) - Heaven Can Wait (5:24) - Stranger in a Strange Land (5:43) - Alexander the Great (8:35) -------------------------------------------------- - Moonchild (5:38) - The Evil That Men Do (4:33) - Clairvoyant (4:26) -------------------------------------------------- - Tailgunner (4:13) - Holy Smoke (3:47) - No Prayer for the Dying (4:22) - Hooks In You (4:06) - Bring Your Daughter... (4:42) -------------------------------------------------- - Be Quick Or Be Dead (3:21) - From Here to Eternity (3:35) - Afraid to Shoot Strangers (6:52) - Wasting Love (5:46) - Fear Of The Dark (7:16) From here I've started narrowing my choices, having in mind that (IMO), 90% of the set will composed of the usual "best-of" of fan favourites singles, with just 1 or 2 "surprises", one of those I'm almost sure that it will be "ROTAM", and ended up with this: - Ides of march (1:48) (TAPE)
- Prowler (3:56) - Wrathchild (2:54) - Killers (4:58) - The Evil That Men Do (4:33) - Trooper (4:10) - Bring Your Daughter... (4:42) - Phantom of the Opera (7:02) - Rime Of The Ancient Mariner (13:45) - Fear Of The Dark (7:16) Encore: - Number of the Beast (4:25) - Hallowed Be Thy Name (7:08) - Running Free (3:22) Some might still be, wishful thinking on my part 😅
Hi Nico! Thanks for another great video! I absolutely agree with your observations! Also, it seems we have similar tastes. My all time favorite Maiden album is Somewhere in Time, as well (followed by Piece of Mind)! I waited almost my whole life to listen to that song live in a concert. And that dream became possible a couple of days ago in New Jersey! However, the crowd was completely crazy in arena and we almost were crushed, so I couldn't enjoy it with 100% attention. Therefore, I would like to hear it again life (although I don't think they will play it in the upcoming tour)! The same as you, I would also love to hear The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner and Still Life. I would also add to the list To Tame a Land, which is another of my favorite songs! Anyways, I will enjoy any song from Maiden, even more knowing that they are celebrating their 50th aniversary!!!! Up the Irons! Greetings from Puerto Rico Blood brother in metal! \m/
I felt the same for the same reason 😊 And I had a bit of a similar experience in Edmonton last year. It was a great crowd, just a little overly enthusiastic and bit too much moshing for a Maiden show - for my taste, anyway. 😅 Totally worth it 😄
Ciao Nico. You are right on many points about the 50th anniversary of this band, we should never take them, their passion and the way they play, for granted. I watched them in Milan and they played more than a few songs in a fantastic way: The Time Machine, Can I Play with Madness, Alexander the Great, The Prisoner, Stranger in a Strange Land, TWOTW... About the incoming tour: I think they should have included songs from the latest albums as well, at least a couple among The Talisman, The Legacy, Paschendele, Brave New World About the setlist: No way they are going yo play The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner; it's in my top 5 IM songs, but we must acknowledge how difficult the vocal line and the drum part are. They couldn't play it live back then, I don't see how they can play it now, even with a softer arrangement. I have a feeling they will play The Prophecy, with its cool intro/outro, and killer riff, and the fantastic solos and the vocal line is awesome. I also believe they will open withTailgunner, it's an amazing song, perfect for our times, and one of the most disquieting and yet brillant Bruce's vocal lines.
Saw the future past tour in Edmonton last year and the boys were unbelievable. I think people have become too accustom to perfectly filmed and edited videos on social media, and forget what a live performance actually looks and sounds like.
I just hope they include some of these: Remember Tomorrow Phantom of the Opera Killers Purgatory Invaders (very unlikely, because Steve never liked it apparently) 22 Acacia Avenue Revelations Powerslave Rime of the Ancient Mariner Sea of Madness The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner Infinite Dreams Seventh Son of a Seventh Son Holy Smoke Be Quick or Be Dead Wasting Love
That's a great list! I think they won't do Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, because of its difficulty (they've only done it a few times I think).
Great list bro! You've picked up some of my favourite Maiden songs ever, Innocent Exile, 22 Acacia Avenue, Still Life and Infinite Dreams. Would be awesome to have them in the set. Total Eclipse is a great shout, and it would be cool to have that one too. Would love The Loneliness as well, as they dropped it from the Somewhere in Time setlist after playing it just a couple of times. And Hooks on You is one of my favourites from No Prayer. However, I would prefer if they played Die With Your Boots On, Prowler, Transylvania and Sea of Madness. I would also love to see the Duellists live, but of course, this is impossible. I know I'm dreaming, I just hope they have room for a few non-obvious songs on set. On the other hand, I'll be very happy if they play Phantom of the Opera and The Clairvoyant.
I'm like you in that I hope the band continue to tour. Which I'm sure they will providing there all fit and enjoying touring. From the footage I've seen of the band and seeing them twice last year, I think the band is on fire. I think they've played the somewhere in time songs better on the future past tour than what they did back in the day. I'm really looking forward to the run for your lives tour going to see them at the London show. As for the setlist I think all the big hits will be back, I think there will be some surprises in there and fan favourites. But I'm not to fussed about what they play, I just make the most of every tour they do, I just think it's amazing that they are still putting on such great shows and play with such great energy and enthusiasm.
I hope they play a couple songs from each album - Phantom OtO, Iron Maiden; Wrathchild, Killers; 22 Acacia Ave, Children otD; Flight of Icarus, Revelations; Flash of the Blade and Back in the Village; Deja Vu, Deja Vu ☺️; SSotSS, Moonchild; No Prayer, Hooks in You; Be quick or be dead, Wasting Love… and that’s it! Wish Brave New World stuff could be on this list - Wicker Man, The Nomad - such great tunes!!
I saw the band in Montréal two weeks ago and I was blown away by how good they sound. When they hit the stage with CSIT, it was such a magical and powerful moment and Dave especially was really killing it on that show. As for the songs I'd like to see on the next tour, I'd like Prowler, Another Life, 22 Acacia Avenue, Still Life, Back in the Village or The Duellists, TLDOTLDR, Moonchild, Infinite Dreams, Be Quick or Be Dead and Judas by my Guide. Can't wait to catch the next tour and hopefully we'll also get a new album by then. Cheers!!
Already a subscriber, but I will follow you forever for mentioning Total Eclipse! And TLOTLDR! Sadly, Steve Harris hates Infinite Dreams for some reason, at least from a live performance perspective. My suggestion, the reality is they are only going to do about 100-105 minute show. Take a handful of the best from albums 1-2, and do medley as both a nod to their fans who have been with them since the early days, and a tribute to Paul. RIP
Looking forward to seeing them next year at London Stadium..love all their songs so any of them will do!…mind you To tame a land would top it off for me..
Nice video. I think you nailed it on your wish set list. I still remember Still Life when i saw the seventh son tour. I just saw them in Baltimore, and they were as tight as I have seen them. Your vocal comparison, I thought Bruce was better now on CSIT. I’m retiring to Asia early next year. I’m hoping they will go back there, and I can catch a few shows. If so, that would give me 3 continents I will have seen them. North America since 1985, South America, Rock n Rio 2019, amazing show, and then finish with SE Asia.
I saw Maiden in Charlotte the other night and it was completely amazing. The boys were on fire and having a blast. Easily one of the best shows of theirs I ever seen. I would be lying if I didn't say I would have preferred a tour of post 2000 songs rather than the older albums. Death of the celts was a definite highlight and Hell on Earth killed it!! They sound better now than ever in my opinion. Great video Nico!
Here's my predictions :
1. Prowler
2. Bring me your daughter
3. Wrathchild
4. Afraid to shoot strangers
5. Wasting love
6. Infinite Dreams
7. To tame a Land
8. Rime of the ancient mariner
9. Killers
10. Hallowed be thy name
11. Phantom of the opera
12. Number of the beast
13. Fear of the dark
14. Run to the hills
15. Running free
I'd love "Tailgunner" , "Only the good die young", "The loneliness of the long distance runner", "From here to eternity" and "Flash of the Blade" but it's impossibile they'll play them
At this point, I expect every tour to be their final tour.
Those clips of Bruce singing 'Caught Somewhere in Time' and 'Alexander the Great' gave me chills. Like you, my favourite Maiden era.
You summed up my feelings on the band completely! People don’t realize how freakin lucky we are to have them still bringing out amazing music and performing so well! I was in awe seeing them on the recent tour.
My mouth dropped to hear that people are complaining. I saw them in Pittsburgh and I thought they sounded fantastic. I can't wait for their next tour!
Was in Pittsburgh also! They sounded amazing!
I traveled to the Pittsburgh show from Cincinnati. My favorite band NEVER disappoints. My first show was almost forty years ago.
Agreed 1000% with everything you said about the band and the fans. Bruce's overall package, performance and commitment is unmatched.
I appreciate that very much, thank you! 🤜🏻🤛🏻
My own personal prediction goes as follows
(Keep in mind, im 100% certain they will play Trooper, Fear Of The Dark and Iron Maiden. I'd prefer Sun and Steel for Trooper, but hey, these songs are staples for each show. And there is no way they're not going to play Hallowed after not playing it for a tour)
Intro:
Doctor Doctor
The Ides Of March
----------------------------
-Killers
-Be Quick Or Be Dead
-Children Of The Damned
-Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
-Infinite Dreams
-Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner
-The Trooper
-Bring Your Daughter... To The Slaughter
-Still Life
-Phantom Of The Opera
-Hallowed Be Thy Name
-Fear Of The Dark
-Iron Maiden
-The Evil That Men Do
-Running Free
-Run To The Hills
Bruce sounds better than ever! We wetness it also in Mandrakes project tour. Also the band sounded phenomenal
you're completely right with what you say about those criticizing the band now... they ain't young boys anymore but are performing great just like they did in their 20s, and you can see they're enjoying it which is the most important thing...
we all get old and can't do things the same way we used to do in our youth but that's how life goes, so nothing but respect for those people who still do what they enjoy and love
regarding setlist... my wishlist includes: infinite dreams, tlotldr, childhood's end, deja vu, judas be my guide, the duellists, prodigal son, still life, sun and steel, holy smoke, tailgunner... with 2 or 3 songs from that list i'll be really happy
1- Deja Vu
2- Judas be my Guide
3- Flash of the Blade
4- No prayer for the dying
@@AnthonyAnthony-tk4ye i dont agree. On studio he sounds very bad
i saw them last weekend and Bruce sounded as good as ever.
I like the portraits that you have on the wall 😄👍
Would absolutely love to hear invaders too! Love the viking lyrics. Skol! Adore it
So many good songs from this era of Maiden, I just hope that they play powerslave as it is my son's favorite song and also his first Maiden concert!
I would love to hear the following songs on the tour next year besides the songs you predicted in the first list:
1. To Tame a Land
2. The Prophecy
3. Die with your boots on
4. Remember Tomorrow
I agree 100%. I think they have more new material in them. They have never sounded better.
Wish list:
Prowler
Killers
Purgatory
22Acacia Ave.
Still Life
Be Quick Or Be Dead
In order to come full circle, Remember Tomorrow Has to be there, as it was the first song Bruce did🎉
I've been seeing Maiden since the Somewhere In Time tour and I've had my share of deeper cuts but this is about as ambitious as I can see for this tour.
Flight 633 Squadron theme
Tailgunner
2 Minutes To Midnight
Wrathchild
Killers
Die With Your Boots On
The Evil That Men Do
Infinite Dreams
Phantom Of The Opera
Powerslave
Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
Hallowed Be Thy Name
Fear Of The Dark
Iron Maiden
Number Of The Beast
Run To The Hills
Running Free
Wasted Years or Sanctuary
Really can't wait to find out though.
1. Prowler
2. 2 Minutes To Midnight
3. Wrathchild
4. Infinite Dreams
5. Killers
6. Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
7. 22 Acacia Avenue
8. Phantom Of The Opera
9. Be Quick Or Be Dead
10. Bring Your Daughter...To The Slaughter
11. Run To The Hills
12. Only The Good Die Young
13. The Number Of The Beast
14. Fear Of The Dark
Encores:
15. Hallowed Be Thy Name
16. Wasted Years
17. Iron Maiden
Fantasy Deep-Cuts:
Sea Of Madness
Judas Be My Guide
Remember Tomorrow
Hi, what a Crazy Set List 🤘🤘🤘UP the Irons..
Just realised there's nothing from 'Piece Of Mind'!?!?!🤔🤦♂. Maybe swap out 'Wrathchild' for 'Flight Of Icarus' and 'Only The Good Die Young' for 'Die With Your Boots On' ??
Judas be my Guide 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
(1) Be quick or be dead
(2) Infinite dreams
(3) Public enema no 1. (It’s time for a Murray song in the setlist)
(4) Children of the damned
(5) Flight of Icarus
(6) Powerslave
(7) Killers
(8) Afraid to shoot strangers
(9) Rime of the Ancient Mariner
(10) No Prayer for the dying
(11) Phantom of the Opera
(12) Sea of Madness
(13) Iron Maiden
Encores
(14) Moonchild
(15) The Trooper
(16) Hallowed be thy Name
(17) Sanctuary
I would take Bruce’s live voice any time after his return (even now) over his 80s performances, personally. It just sounds so much more polished and in control.
I always say that
1: Remember Tomorrow
2: Prodigal Son
3: The Prisoner
4: Gangland
5: To Tame a Land
6: Back in the Village
7: Losfer Words
8: Sea of Madness
9: The Clairvoyant
10: Tailgunner
11: Judas Be My Guide
12: Be Quick or Be Dead
I almost find it hard to believe they could consider another world tour.
Would love to hear loneliness of the long distance runner too. Was gutted when it didn't appear on the future past tour
For the Blaze thing, I don't see that happening for the tour but I do think it's possible they do something like that for a special night or two.
Iron Maiden has always been my favorite band of all time. My band in 1991 was able to play some 30 of their songs, and we weren’t even a maiden cover band. It was just that fun to play.
Long live Iron Maiden!
I saw Maiden in Pittsburgh on 11/8 and they were freaking amazing!!!!
Hell On Earth live was an absolute banger!
Fear Is The Key would be crazy cool! Love that tune 🤘 But yeah... Definitely never gonna happen 😅
Infinite Dreams was the one that made me fall in love with Maiden, and still one of my two absolute favorite songs, so I’m really begging the Iron Gods that Be we might just get lucky…
Otherwise, I have fewer overlaps with your “secondary list”… I think the “milestone” songs we all agree, but my personal peeves (for the secondary list) would have included:
- Prowler
- Killers
- Murders in the Rue Morgue (and instead of Wrathchild too)
- Children of the Damned
- Aces High (I’m biased)
- Stranger in a Strange Land (why not again, need something from Somewhere in Time, right!?)
- INFINITE DREAMS please, please, please
- Be Quick or Be Dead (would recall a great ‘93 memory and an superb opening)
Otherwise I’m more or less with ya on most of the “milestone” songs and indeed I’d love to see Still Life, and agree The Evil That Men Do should make a come back… actually, for me that would be one of the milestone songs…
Up the Irons!
That held note at the end of "Alexander" is practically inhuman.
Check out Steve Grimmets ending note of "See You In Hell" with Grim Reaper
From the live 1987 show
That is way longer note
Bruce is getting older, but he still sounds great on this tour. Great vid..
I'd love to see the following included:
Murders in the Rue morgue
To tame a land
Back in the village
Sea of Madness
Thanks to YOU, man! Really appreciate you watching 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Im going to Prague next year, im so ready u know :D 3 songs i wanna hear the most are To tame a land, Total eclipse and Phantom of the opera!
Bruce sounds better now than he has been in years!!
And far better then 1986/1987 when he was sounding the worst of his career I think.
Probably that hot bass player he's banging is keeping him young.
If I get to watch Mariner live performance in person, I will die happy
I got to see it on the “Somewhere Back in Time” tour, the first time I saw them live. I feel fortunate, as I haven’t seen it since(5 or 6 tours?). It would be great to see it one more time, on perhaps their final tour.
Me too, at the long gone Irvine Meadows.
Bruce's performances are outstanding! Unbelievable he can still sing that way, and in the case you referred to, even better!
I've seen Maiden's last two tours and they've blown us away every time. One of the best bands to see period.
- Iron Maiden
- Transylvania
- Wrathchild
- Killers
- Children of the Damned
- 22 Acacia Avenue
- The number of the Beast
- Hallowed be Thy Name
- The Trooper
- Revelations
- Still Life
- Two minutes to Midnight
- Powerslave
- The Evil that Man do
- Fear of the dark
Up the Irons!!!
I think for this tour it is finally time To Tame A Land!
The tune I'd love to hear more than anything is Sun & Steel. How was this not a hit? Great post. So excited for the next tour.

Can't wait for the next tour. 50 years. Incredible.
I had the 1998 "enhanced CD" version of The Number of the Beast as a child, so I always see Total Eclipse as being the 8th track, right before Hallowed Be Thy Name.
'To Tame A Land' for sure - if Steve can still play it!
Thanks so much for your wonderful, and very apt, emphasis on celebrating and being joyful about the high level of musicianship and entertainment, which this band to this day consistently delivers. 🙏
Thank YOU for the very kind compliment! Cheers 🤜🤛🤛
I just wanna see Rime of the Ancient Mariner live one last time. I don’t care what the rest of the set is.
I'm with you!
Agreed.
Best live song
I've made this rough selection, of possible choices from each record:
- Prowler (3:56)
- Remember Tomorrow (5:30)
- Running Free (3:22)
- Phantom of the Opera (7:02)
- Sanctuary (3:19)
- Iron Maiden (3:43)
--------------------------------------------------
- Ides of march (1:48)
- Wrathchild (2:54)
- Murders in the rue Morgue (4:14)
- Killers (4:58)
--------------------------------------------------
- Children of the Damned (4:34)
- 22 Acacia Avenue (6:34)
- Number of the Beast (4:25)
- Run to the Hills (3:50)
- Hallowed Be Thy Name (7:08)
--------------------------------------------------
- Revelations (6:51)
- Flight Of Icarus (3:49)
- Die With Your Boots On (5:22)
- Trooper (4:10)
--------------------------------------------------
- Aces High (4:31)

--------------------------------------------------
- Wasted Years (5:06)
- Heaven Can Wait (5:24)
- Stranger in a Strange Land (5:43)
- Alexander the Great (8:35)
--------------------------------------------------

- Be Quick Or Be Dead (3:21)
- From Here to Eternity (3:35)
- Afraid to Shoot Strangers (6:52)
- Wasting Love (5:46)
- Fear Of The Dark (7:16)
From here I've started narrowing my choices, having in mind that (IMO), 90% of the set will composed of the usual "best-of" of fan favourites singles, with just 1 or 2 "surprises", one of those I'm almost sure that it will be "ROTAM", and ended up with this:
- Ides of march (1:48) (TAPE)
- Prowler (3:56)
- Wrathchild (2:54)
- Killers (4:58)
- The Evil That Men Do (4:33)
- Trooper (4:10)
- Bring Your Daughter... (4:42)
- Phantom of the Opera (7:02)
- Rime Of The Ancient Mariner (13:45)
- Fear Of The Dark (7:16)
Encore:
- Number of the Beast (4:25)
- Hallowed Be Thy Name (7:08)
- Running Free (3:22)
Some might still be, wishful thinking on my part 😅
Best pre-tour review I’ve ever seen 🔥 thanks Niko 🙏🏻 hope to see you in one of the shows
Iron Maiden is a World Class Band and their performance to this day is pure gold. No other band has such a consistency. Period.
I felt the same for the same reason 😊
And I had a bit of a similar experience in Edmonton last year. It was a great crowd, just a little overly enthusiastic and bit too much moshing for a Maiden show - for my taste, anyway. 😅
Totally worth it 😄
About the incoming tour: I think they should have included songs from the latest albums as well, at least a couple among The Talisman, The Legacy, Paschendele, Brave New World
About the setlist: No way they are going yo play The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner; it's in my top 5 IM songs, but we must acknowledge how difficult the vocal line and the drum part are.
All of these guys are incredible at their age. We will miss them when it's over.
Saw the future past tour in Edmonton last year and the boys were unbelievable. I think people have become too accustom to perfectly filmed and edited videos on social media, and forget what a live performance actually looks and sounds like.
That is, indeed, a growing problem.
I just hope they include some of these:
Remember Tomorrow
Phantom of the Opera
Killers
Purgatory
Invaders (very unlikely, because Steve never liked it apparently)
22 Acacia Avenue
Revelations
Powerslave
Rime of the Ancient Mariner
Sea of Madness
The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner
Infinite Dreams
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Holy Smoke
Be Quick or Be Dead
Wasting Love
That's a great list!
I think they won't do Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, because of its difficulty (they've only done it a few times I think).
I hope they include these tunes
1. Be Quick or be Dead
2. Still Life
3. Afraid to Shoot Strangers
4. Tailgunner
5. To Tame a Land

Cheers!!
Bruce is an anomaly. His energy and singing at this point is mind boggling!
I love Where Eagles Dare, Infinite Dreams, Back in the Village...would love to hear them live
