Still testing the new color version of this currently. Also have a tonne of mailbags for you all to see soon. Hope you enjoy these little tutorials! Eric
I'm currently trying out the HX1230 96x68px LCD which is 'supposed' to be the 5110 replacement. I have to admit the backlight (a single led) is actually much better than the 5110, its also a slightly smaller form factor and considerably thinner than tha relatively thick 5110. If its your only SPI device in a project you can get away with only 3 wires for communications...CLK, DIN and RST, CE can be hardwired to GND. Comms is a bit different to normal in that you send a D/C BIT, followed by the data byte....a total of 9 BITS....as long as you follow that protocol it works flawlessly. Worth a look if you need a few extra pixels or just a 'thinner' 5110 equivalent.
I had one of these in my "to do" pile for over a year. When I finally got around to playing with it I immediately ordered a bunch more. it's a simple utilitarian display that's great for quick projects. Thanks for sharing your code, Eric. I never thought of doing a "quick-n-dirty" scope with one.
Welcome. Always will be my favorite. The new color ones I got are proving to be very disappointing. Lots of options though. I like the 0.96" OLEDs too but I still always come back to the Nokia for some reason ;)

Like to see this working with a WeMos
I like to use my laptop as a display with processing sketches.

That update speed (of your code) was impressively fast. (Color 10x more expensive?)
How do you compare it with SSD1306?
Which is your favorite?
I keep meaning to get one of these.
Great little display
