Man all these negative comments are out of place . The guy said its more of a safe for him to store thing than and actual panic room and it only cost him $150 to make. A real panic room would cost thousands of dollars to install in a home. This guy had a great idea and I would definitely build one for only $150 bucks. Well done sir.
A good panic room would cost $10K or more easily. Ours doubles as a Hurricane/Tornado shelter and we have over $20K invested in it not counting survival supplies. We fortified our master bedroom complete with hurricane proof Windows and a separate Heating/AC/ventilation system backed up by a generator.
@@BoopSnoot He did say he was moving so I guess that's why we are seeing it, although the next homeowner might not know that the home is up on video. it all depends what the next homeowner will do with the room anyways.
Wow. The negative comments are hilarious. Their main problem seems to be - never owned a home, don't have any valuables, and never seen a gun that wasn't attached to a cop's hip. Very creative and well executed. Well done, man.
I don't know why there so many negative comments. It's honestly one of the coolest hidden rooms I've seen. Panic room/gun safe room. Good job! Now to build a panic room in the new house aha!
Very nice, no one will ever think to look. The fact the mirror is floating off the floor makes the effect perfect. You can add a lock to the back side of the mirror so once your in there it won't slide open by a vandal. Overall best hidden room I've seen so far. The $1000 bookcases are so common everyone knows to look behind them.
Cool room. I like that the mirror doesn't go all the way to the floor, which makes it look less likely to be a door. Couple suggestions for improvement: I would get a steel door, and reinforce it and the dry wall with some hard steel sheets, to add a level of protection in the event that someone is able to find the door and tries to shoot through it. Also, I would look into turning the mirror into a two-way mirror, so you can see what's going on outside the door and be sure there is no immediate threat waiting for you to come out.
+Devkrovil I didn't say it would be cheap, but it would be worth it. Reinforcing the walls and doors is almost a necessity, because there are no corners and nothing to hide behind inside the room that could shield you from gunfire.
Very cool idea. Thanks for sharing this. Unfortunately I don't have a room I can do this with at my current home, but certainly will be kept in mind later down the road. The only things I would add if you didn't already have it are 1) a landline phone or other reliable way to communicate so if you are in a situation where you need help you could get it 2) if you have security cameras, a way to monitor them and see when it is safe to come out. 3) a reinforced lock/door and frame so if someone got in the house and you ran to that room with them close behind, they wouldn't be able to easily force the door open. I know you moved now, but maybe this would be something to consider in the future or for others that want to try this idea. I was able to reinforce the frame of my front door with just a few long screws. The frame is usually what fails first when someone tries to force it open.
Using drywall to cover the bottom of the door is brilliant. A full length mirror would need to goto the floor, and would not cover the gap. Thanks for sharing your tips.
Without a doubt, it's a very clever solution and certainly an inexpensive one. Thieves are in a house no longer than 10 mins or so....they don't hang out of hours. They get in, quick grab of obvious valuables and then are out. I would seriously doubt anyone would even think of the mirror being "out of place", etc. Great job, sir !! If I had a small room like this somewhere in my current home, I'd do this to it...but I don't. :(
The original home owner came over one time, knowing the layout, an being told I had built a secret room. He still didn't find it... Can't be that bad lol. It took the new home owner 2 weeks to find it while painting lol
First of all, awesome panic/safe room. However, for added secret to the room, from behind the mirror (with it being "close"), I would add a mirror lock hinge. This way if someone were to be snooping in the basement, they won't be able to slide the mirror if they tried. Of course, this added lock can only be switched on if you or your family member is already behind the mirror.
Best comment section idea yet... Great idea... I like it.. Also in case there's a home invasion and you and your family run to hide. This way can be safe and they won't think to slide the glass because it will already be locked. Great idea bud..
Joanna Sanchez I'm glad I wasn't the only one. It would be an epic fail if all the time and effort was put into the secret door, only to be found by luck.
Stet Tan I know right.. what if someone wanted to steal the glass mirror. And was like fuck yeah.... It's a antique.. Let's take it.. and damn it. The guys found the secret door..... scary shit brah.... 😀 your Idea was Epic...
Could use the idea of putting in security cams that records and feed into your hidden room to monitor anyone moving about on your property, interior or exterior. The room walls look impenetrable.
Very cool room. The ONLY the I'd recommend is maybe putting something else around the area. Even a small plant of some kind. That way it helps draw attention on something other than just the mirror. But love the idea.
clever, but you gotta create a lock for the mirror on the other side so it wouldn't be easily sliding if you are on the other side by mistake or random chance
d'nomar senoj : considering he has a salon setup for his women down there, the mirror isn't that much out of place. When u finish getting yourself cut you always want to look into a mirror.. my hat goes off to this guy he made something unique and pretty badass. it has given me a fresh idea instead of a wall mounted gun safe. so for that the k you for sharing the video...
Trainer Quantum no, I really love the work he did. but now when I go into someone's house and see a mirror or book case..i am going to think hidden room.

I know huh. trolls asking where is the bathroom. SMH. They think he's going to live in this room for weeks or something. Run, Hide, Fight. This is the perfect safe room. Love it.
If you do this again consider using the august smart lock for the door. It will require you to use your phone to unlock the door and allow you to easily secure the room even if it was found by looters or children playing around.
I also suggest getting a couple of USB night vision pinhole cameras that will plug into your cell phone or an old laptop in the panic room for video. You can run them wherever you choose in the house but at minimum, have one hidden just outside the room. (inside that smoke alarm on the ceiling or a fake coax wall plate) Without revealing yourself, this lets you identify friendly or hostile, when they're danger close, and where exactly to aim from behind that wall to end things quick! Being USB they are powered by the device and still work if home power disrupted. These cameras can be found online for around $20
Are you able to enclose yourself in the safe room and still be able to get yourself out? With the mirror being slid back to it's original position and door being closed as well?
I'm sort of new to this site so if this hasn't been discussed another easy way so to remove the 'kick plate' from the lower kitchen cabinets. Then make it re-attachable with striker plates and magnets. That way you can stash your stuff in a stable box of some sort. A good one is a metal baking pan with a slider top.
For those adding rude comments. If someone broke in your home and didn't find your jewelry, guns, other valuables you wouldn't think this was so stupid. With today's crime level and even you never know who is addicted and might steal from you. It's not a stupid idea. Plus good storage for your valuables. Maybe you have a few things that are personal that you don't want the world to have access to
This is one of the coolest things I’ve seen lol, think everyone who owns guns and ammo would appreciate a room like this. I wouldn’t even know where to begin trying to make this myself lmao.
+Brian Byrne well if you had that two way mirror then some thick bullet proof glass the same height as the door that was hinged on one side and when u close it it locks on the other and was tinted so dark once it was closed it would not show light he could open it the two way mirror see people through it but when it was time to take cover close it that would be pretty nice
Yes. Two way mirror would work. Where do you buy a 2-way mirror?? Also, instead of a mirror. Install 4 security cameras and have them on your computer in the safe room. That way you would know how many bad guys were in the house. A thought
This is awesome. I have a perfect spot in our home for something like this. We have a space that isn’t readily discernible to the average person in our home. Its a space that once a wall is put up would never cue anyone that the square footage is there. We have our emergency supplies, as well as some cash, silver, and gold. Ive been trying to come up with a way to hide these things but still be accessible.
I actually didn't tell the new home owner. Took him 2 weeks to find the room. He had a guy painting the basement and he had trouble figuring out how to take off the mirror and once they discovered it slid, they located the room but with no lights on in the room, the were scared to enter it at first. lol
I have some advice regarding the water. It's never a good idea to keep water in plastic bottles unless you intend to use that water up in a short period of time. Plastic degrades over time and eventually water becomes toxic. This is why bottled water in the shop comes with an expiray date. Use glass bottles or containers to store water over long periods of time. Also, the body requires 3ltrs of water per day or 6 ltrs for two people and would recommend that you have at least 3 months worth of water incase of an emergency or 540ltrs. 6 months, 1080 ltrs would be ideal as you could also use it for washing and cooking.
+Alex T No he's right. I bought two bottles of Poland Spring I didn't realize was passed the expiration date and the water tasted nasty. I sent it in and Poland Spring wrote back the plastic has degraded.
Bravo for doing that yourself, because those things are pretty expensive to have built. I wanted to have a bookshelf built to cover my short hallway to my closet, vanity, and bathroom, but it was an opening from the floor to the ceiling. It was a narrow hallway, but the people I talked to really didn't want to build it. They would rather do what you did using an existing door. That's apparently a lot simpler, and you could just purchase a Murphy door (bookshelf) or build it yourself. Your mirror is great and goes with the whole weight room theme...I doubt a thief would suspect!
It would have been interesting if you had used a one way mirror you could have observed anyone in your basement that way. Failing that you should use concealed wifi cameras around the house that can be monitored in the basement. Great video and good job
hi there.. thank you so much for taking the time out to show us this great safe room.. I've often told my husband we def need one with all these threats the US is getting. you did a great job! may I ask, do you have additional locks inside to keep you & your loved ones safe? thanks again & don't pay much mind to these idiots.
This is great! I've been looking into gun safes but learning quickly from my research, they are easy to break into (even the $2500 models). Now I'm thinking instead of locking them up, it might be best to hide them. This video has inspired me.
very cool setup, the one thing I would have added in the room is a small bullet proof wall to stand behind, if they were shooting at you in there, no place to hide..... oh and two chairs :-)
Very cool inexpensive panic room. I'm buying a house in a few days and I'm already thinking up ways to build a hidden room. I'm probably not going to do the big mirror thing though since the internet is flooded with rooms behind big mirrors. It's a red flag nowadays that spatks people to look behind them.
Well there's tons of ways to do it, just do what will work best for you. Btw you can always do a picture or something else decorative. Glad you liked the video an congrats on the new house!
Wood panelling! Lots and lots of it! The wife would love it! Hahah. But really, people come in the house, look around and see that you have such refined taste, as to put panelling up... They figure you are a U-per and get the hell out of your abode, because all you have in your home is Schlitz and flannel shirts. Lol. But little do they know, that behind the wood panelling, you are the BATMAN!
Yes, a great idea, how inexpensive and simple, without unnecessary bells and whistles, to make a hidden door. We make escape rooms around the world and also create similar things)
Great job. I've seen safe doors which would work awesome in this scenario. They were at my local gunsafe store for a fraction of the cost of an actual safe.
A couple of things or more. Great general idea. A good start. You need to seal up the concrete somehow. Concrete allows moisture. Also you could have something on the walls to hang stuff easier. Ventilation is needed. A more secure door behind the mirror. Make the wall with the door and the ceiling very fireproof.
Very well done, this is exactly what I'm looking for. I'm just wondering about the heavy duty drawer sliders and where I can get something like that, but all in all it seems like a really cool project! I assume you told the new owner about the secret room?
I think a rolling fridge or book case can be more discreet, maybe a book case door behind the mirror, always keep a fire extinguisher and gas mask inside your panic room.
dudelivestrong I can navigate my entire home in pitch black darkness, And everyone out there should be able to also if anyone comes into my home unwanted flip the switch complete darkness good luck getting out alive
lol, I actually did a pretty shotty job on that. I simply just took (2) 2x4s about 2' to 2'-6" long and put them behind the drywall(one at the bottom, one at the top) and then took about 4 screws and drove them through the drywall and into the 2x4s to distribute the weight evenly across the drywall. Once I had those set, I leveled up the drawer slides, and mounted them to the 2x4s. Then hung the mirror. lol not very structurally sound but it held fine for the time I was there. Around 2 years with that room.
Colson Customs Mate, if a husband and wife come looking round your place because they're interested in buying it the husband is going to love it. The wife not so much but he will definitely appreciate it
That's what you would think. Only reason I ask is because I was told stuff like putting in a pond might make it harder to sell a house and that some renovations and improvements would not see any return, while others would. It is something I would definitely pay for and think others would see a value in as well. Idk, people are odd sometimes though.
That's so cool! I think I'd put some vlogging equipment by it, like a ring light, etc., to give the mirror some context, make it look like you use it for vlogging. Im afraid it will otherwise stand out. If you ever need to use it, somebody may question why there is a nice, full length mirror in what is essentially a basement workshop and put 2 & 2 together.
Luna and Tia Gaming uhh.. Yes it is. It's in the fucking name. Why would you be able to see through a mirror in only one direction if it's called a TWO-way mirror?
pretty sweet. i think the slider is better than hinges for another reason too. if someone were to grab at the mirror to lift it off, it would stay put. and they're not likely to think of siding it. more likely to ignore it. I wonder if it would be possible to set the slider in slightly to eliminate any view if someone were to peer behind it from up close. just an idea. at any rate, sweet job. nice idea
In your next apt or house, add a sheet of metal to the back of the mirror ( in case who ever breaks in...wants to smash the mirror ) they won't find the door
Neat. You could put a small hole through the door, attach a fishing line to the mirror and be able to pull the mirror over the door while in the panic room. Had a hidden room behind the back of a closet that was underneath the stairs in a house I used to have
In years past I bought three identical phone booth sized TL rated safes from a man on Craigslist. They are 1/2 thick hardplate and are now all bolted together. I did take the doors to a safe/lock shop so they could upgrade my locks and look them over for me. We are now looking for a new home and I will be doing the same thing that you did. I'm planning to cutting the back out of one safe and useing it as the door to a hidden room.
This is very cool. I've been really into water lately myself, ever since 2013. I want to expand my collection of water jugs but I'm concerned about water thieves. This may be the best method.
Basket of laundry in front of minor is nice... maybe change the paint color of the forward wall... maybe a signed jersey to cause conversation for the stair descent. Just spit balling

Certainly. I'm not criticizing at all, I think the room is great. Just making some suggestions for possible future considerations.

Are you serious ? You do realise for how long someone should be jn the room for the plastic to degrade ? I think its a bit to much...
+Alex T No he's right. I bought two bottles of Poland Spring I didn't realize was passed the expiration date and the water tasted nasty. I sent it in and Poland Spring wrote back the plastic has degraded.
+Alex T Put water in glass bottles or steel cans.
The plastic is always degrading not just while they are in the room. By the time they end up using it who knows what the state of it would be.
Could get water from the water cylinder too. What about bpa free bottles? Those 200L water barrels? Or a rainwater catchment system?
Bravo for doing that yourself, because those things are pretty expensive to have built. I wanted to have a bookshelf built to cover my short hallway to my closet, vanity, and bathroom, but it was an opening from the floor to the ceiling. It was a narrow hallway, but the people I talked to really didn't want to build it. They would rather do what you did using an existing door. That's apparently a lot simpler, and you could just purchase a Murphy door (bookshelf) or build it yourself. Your mirror is great and goes with the whole weight room theme...I doubt a thief would suspect!
5yrs old but everyone’s here in 2020 for a covid-19 panic room lol. 😂😆
It would have been interesting if you had used a one way mirror you could have observed anyone in your basement that way. Failing that you should use concealed wifi cameras around the house that can be monitored in the basement. Great video and good job
Most one-way mirrors only work when the room is completely dark on the percieving side. If you turned on any light ever you’d blow your cover
hi there.. thank you so much for taking the time out to show us this great safe room.. I've often told my husband we def need one with all these threats the US is getting. you did a great job! may I ask, do you have additional locks inside to keep you & your loved ones safe? thanks again & don't pay much mind to these idiots.
Sol4Real: Don't wait for your husband. YOU are capable of doing something like this, believe me.
very cool little room. I wish I had a space like that in my house.
This is great! I've been looking into gun safes but learning quickly from my research, they are easy to break into (even the $2500 models). Now I'm thinking instead of locking them up, it might be best to hide them. This video has inspired me.
very cool setup, the one thing I would have added in the room is a small bullet proof wall to stand behind, if they were shooting at you in there, no place to hide..... oh and two chairs :-)
take a drink every time he says dry-wall
+Ispowz17751975 Dude that's too funny.
Yes, a great idea, how inexpensive and simple, without unnecessary bells and whistles, to make a hidden door. We make escape rooms around the world and also create similar things)
corona
Great ideas we might have to incorporate some of them into our videos
I can't wait to do this in my apartment
Yeah that is slick! You just gave me a GREAT idea for my own setup. Thank you!
Excellent, never would have thought of the mirror & brackets,
Very clever idea! The only thing is the mirror looks out of place. Put up some decor on the wall or portraits of jeff goldblum or something.
Haha Jeff?
Jeff Goldblum? That's enough to make the cops suspicious right there.
Considering there's a barber's chair and other items for his wife's hair salon business, a mirror fits in just fine.
Very well done, this is exactly what I'm looking for. I'm just wondering about the heavy duty drawer sliders and where I can get something like that, but all in all it seems like a really cool project! I assume you told the new owner about the secret room?
Lol, I did not. They sell the drawer slides everywhere. Amazon, Lowes, Home depot, ect.
David Rocha b7fjznzk size
colten wells I'm not positive, it was a few years ago I did this. But I'm pretty certain they were either 18 or 24 inches
I think a rolling fridge or book case can be more discreet, maybe a book case door behind the mirror, always keep a fire extinguisher and gas mask inside your panic room.
Going to be tough to give up that room. Nice work man
Way easier than a bookcase. Thanks:)
Miss Kim welcome, thanks for the comment.
This guy is a maniac going in the basement with the lights off
dudelivestrong Yeah I was waiting to hear him fall down the stairs yealin That didn't hurt That didn't hurt.
dudelivestrong I can navigate my entire home in pitch black darkness, And everyone out there should be able to also if anyone comes into my home unwanted flip the switch complete darkness good luck getting out alive
The workbench outside the room gives a huge zombie/survival game vibe.
Forget the haters! Very clever idea on a budget.
How did you frame the 2 x 4 s across the top and bottom of the jam to support the mirror?
lol, I actually did a pretty shotty job on that.
Dude you should get a two way mirror, that would be awesome.
Dont tell the next owner about this room it would be a nice surprise some day
Yea
Yea
i think your comment is a bit to late
Lol
I would tell the realtor, thats the selling point.
Thats pretty sweet.... doubles as a panic room.
When you went to sell the house, did the buyers like the idea of a safe room? Often wondered if something like this added any value to a place.
Idk, people are odd sometimes though.
two don’t touch me
The lock on the outside makes me wonder soooooooo much more.....🤔🤔😃😉
That's so cool!
Everyone is criticizing him for letting out his secret room in this video. The real crime was him admitting to welding without a mask.
lol touche
lol, i know as soon as i heard that part I was no longer interested in anything else he had to say.

A two way mirror there would be the ultimate addition to this. And you behind it with a 12 gauge. They would never see it coming.
Mike Jones "two way mirror"
So.. Like a window?
Hunter Carney on the outside its a normal mirror but on the other side its see through
Luna and Tia Gaming that's a one way mirror. As in, you can only see through it in one direction. A "two way mirror" is a window.
Hunter Carney no it's not you idiot
Luna and Tia Gaming uhh.. Yes it is. It's in the fucking name. Why would you be able to see through a mirror in only one direction if it's called a TWO-way mirror?
Awesome vid. Very smart with the drawer tracks. Does the mirror slide open enough to get larger items into the doorway?
mercuryhaute it slid enough for the entire hole I cut in the drywall to be exposed. Large enough for everything I needed.
I think this is a fantastic idea! I like the drawer slides!
You could use a see through security mirror.
pretty sweet. i think the slider is better than hinges for another reason too. if someone were to grab at the mirror to lift it off, it would stay put. and they're not likely to think of siding it. more likely to ignore it. I wonder if it would be possible to set the slider in slightly to eliminate any view if someone were to peer behind it from up close. just an idea. at any rate, sweet job. nice idea
I wanted to make a secret room that nobody would know about, so I put it on youtube for thousands of ppl to see :)
He said he was moving out of the house so it doesn't matter...
It was just a joke
He was moving anyway so it didn't matter.
+miles ah He's my neighbor, hit me up and I'll pass along his address!
David Spennachio Lol totally gonna rob whoever buys the house XD
In your next apt or house, add a sheet of metal to the back of the mirror ( in case who ever breaks in...wants to smash the mirror ) they won't find the door
The would probably wonder why anyone would keep a sheet of metal behind a random mirror for no reason
Neat.
You could put a small hole through the door, attach a fishing line to the mirror and be able to pull the mirror over the door while in the panic room. Had a hidden room behind the back of a closet that was underneath the stairs in a house I used to have
Tobin Gallawa quit lyin
There was a handle on the back of the mirror that I used to shut the mirror after entering the room.
Dude that came out sick!
Make a video about it
This is pretty cool!
It's simple, but very sneaky.
:)
This is very cool. I've been really into water lately myself, ever since 2013. I want to expand my collection of water jugs but I'm concerned about water thieves. This may be the best method.
03Mach1dmb wat
You need a recliner in there
Agreed
+aakksshhaayy yep
Smart idea. How. easy is it to move the mirror from the inside?
Basket of laundry in front of minor is nice... maybe change the paint color of the forward wall... maybe a signed jersey to cause conversation for the stair descent. Just spit balling
perfect spot for a grow room lol
It's cool! Try adding some paint and any other additional upgrades!
This could be the coolest room ever
You can’t stay forever because there is no toilet 🚽
