Mr. Ross, your artwork is truly beautiful and awe-inspiring. You can make the silliest costumes and characters into figures of authority and amazement. You will always be an inspiration for me and I hope to meet you one day. Never stop and keep inspiring, thank you.
No one can overstate how impactful his art has been across all comics & superhero media. George Perez had to retire, which is understandable. He'll always have his legendary legacy. Keep the Fire and good health, Alex.
@@gabrielp9646 been aware & a fan of his career and work since the 70's. Metal Hurlant/ Heavy Metal. His influence on Luc Besson's Sci-Fi, etc. I don't undercut the impact of artist and their craft.
The fact that you did that Terminator cover when you were only 19 blows me away. Really makes me wish I had that focus towards drawing and painting when i was a teenager.
Best comic book art since Jack king Kirby if you ask me. I'm glad I collected the Marvels series and Kingdom Come. They are the cream of my entire collection. Love this guys art, wish all my comics had his work. Thanks Alex.
Hi Alex as a fifty something fanboy, I just wanted to thank you for your hard work over the years. I have followed the trials and tribulations of comic book characters throughout my life. In many ways there struggles have been a metaphor, paralleling my own journey. I am often inspired by the gravitas and poignancy you are able to depict in them. You are able to express, how I have always imagined these characters to be within my minds eye and for that I am and will always be eternally grateful.
You are a living legend. I can remember walking around the comic book convention at the Jacob Javits Center in NYC.. somewhere around 1993. I turned a corner and Marvel had these huge... like 5 foot tall prints displaying your upcoming work on "Marvels". It was a pivotal moment for me as an artist. To see what potential existed in a medium that I thought I had completely figured out. It was monumental in every way.
MARVELS was so unique for that time :o reading it truly felt like transfering to Marvel universe and seeing all these events from common man perspective. The beautiful realistic artstyle, truly made it feel as if we experienced all marvel history from common man perspective
Hey Alex your a legend I love work, you are so inspirational to me. I am just starting up my own YT channel and I would love it if you check me out over the next 25years too. Happy Anniversary your awesome!!!
When I see that TUBE that the HUMAN TORCH is encased in that tube it reminds me of Captain America the first AVENGER . when Steve Rogers and Dr Erskine WERE passing through the crowd at the world's fair . THAT TUBE WAS VISIBLE. AND I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT THEY WERE GOING TO ADD HIS INVADERS STORY LINE TOO. but went in a different direction instead. thank you for posting this video.
"I was doing this Terminator comic book series when I was NINETEEN..." *shows an amzaing artwork that no proffesional with twice the experience and age can ever dream of doing*
I don't have the words this project in particular deserves. Traditional but totally original, and never bettered. How about another "Wow!!"? It's all I have. 👏👏
I wonder what alex thinks of the "sequel"-Eye of the Camera? It was so sad *SPOILERS* That phil sheldon died. As peipled mourned phoenix dying, i did, Phil.
The late 1980s comic art revolution was the downfall of comics IMO. Comic house style took it in the rear and all we got was exaggerated, pin-up, crap art.
in mid 90´s i could get those comics buying by catalogue!!! i was waiting for months til the postal service brought them to me!! i live in Chile, by the way
Mr. Ross. When these first hit the market I bought them and I was blown away. I still have them and I still love them. Your an amazing artist and human.
As DC did with their seminal Dark Knight Returns, i wish Marvel would do a painted Cel animated version of this amazing work. Imagine how awesome that would be!!
Mr Ross for Christmas my grandmother gave Marvels, with commentaries from you, Stan and other great ones from Marvel history, the art is stunning the summary if events amazing, Gwen's demise as tge end of an era, Namor and the Guman Tirch as the begining and finally the Fantastic Four with the Avengers bringing the crazyness to the landscape. Thank you Mr Ross
What does one say in response to this? An exceedingly intelligent individual, with truly indescribable talent, who fashioned a legendary vision of inspirational heroes we all grew up imagining ourselves to be; thank you Mr Ross for your passion to this genre and dedication to your craft!
**AMAZING!** Thank you for this longer format video, Alex! I would love to watch more content from you talking about the history of your work or even the process of creating one of your spectacular pieces of art. Your work has been so influential to me. *Thank you!*
Dave Mckean and bill sienkiewicz are amazing artists. They are my favourites! But Alex Ross paints these characters in REVERENCE like a devotee painting the walls of the temples. It is a religious exultation experience.
“Dark Knight Returns” *Shows Arkham Asylum: a serious house in serious earth* Love your work though Alex! Even though I’m not a huge fan of realism I’m intrigued by how you model these characters!
I'm so glad we have Bob Ross in our lives,so glad he was working comics on the side as well as painting all those trees & mountain landscapes on late night television........I'll get my coat 🤔😉 Seriously Alex Ross is the best thing for years to happen to the comic book industry 🤩👍
Just watching this, I can't stop thinking this was the true highlight of Marvel. Of course, it got to me over here in the epicenter of "our" comic boom, where this editorial bought the rights to virtually everything: DC, Marvel, Image. And they launched this (Kingdom Come would come shortly after that). So "Marvels" was my first contact with your work, and I can't get over to the day on how beautiful and nostalgic and moving it was. KC would blow my mind, of course. It's grandiose, and apotheosic, and almos... "Wagnerian". But "Marvels" has this special quality I can't define, more intimate somehow. I think I'm going home, straight for a re-read, a much-needed one, since I just quit Marvel's regular series about a year ago, the characters are no longer those that got to my inner teenaged mutant oddball. Maybe I need a dose of Phil's vision...
Your work is great. An inspiration to me personally in the way Sienkewicz, Muth and Mckean was for you. But. Comics are equally as 'real' when drawn in ink.
I am one of the biggest fans of Alex Ross, and his work. My walls are decorated with his art. This man is like the Michelangelo of comic book superheroes. I really do hope to have the honor of meeting him someday; just to simply say; thank you. You're the best, Alex.
Hey, Alex, I'm a great fan of yours. I always wish you had a good channel to show your works. Congratulations, friend. I'm a painter too. I'm studying your technics.
This is the first video I've seen where its just You and I loved it. Thank you for all your work in comics Alex, this video just sold me a copy of Marvels.
Jaw dropping. So glad this one isn’t 3 minutes long
I know, right?
Mr. Ross, your artwork is truly beautiful and awe-inspiring. You can make the silliest costumes and characters into figures of authority and amazement. You will always be an inspiration for me and I hope to meet you one day. Never stop and keep inspiring, thank you.
Don't be shy about making videos this long. If you have the time, we have the time.
I co sign this post 👍
i realize it's kind of off topic but do anybody know a good place to stream newly released series online?
@Nelson Neil Flixportal xD
@Reuben Corey thanks, I went there and it seems to work :) I appreciate it !
@Nelson Neil no problem xD

?? Superheroes? Yes. Comics..?? I don´t think so. Most adventure comics were painted in Europe in the 60s, already. Just look at Jean Giraud/Mobius.

My copy of Marvelocity arrived yesterday. It’s magnificent. 👍
Alex Ross, you are the man. I’ve got some of your Star Wars covers...Dear God they are masterpieces.
I was never a fan of painted comic art until I read Justice and saw your amazing work thank you. You'll always be a favorite artist of mine.

Alex speaks with a genius's restraint about art that is almost surgically autobiographical

Reading and looking at the art of this Graphic Novel is like watching an all award winning movie. Alex, you are a legend!
When I read silver age Marvel my imagination instantaneously reinterprets what I'm seeing into Alex Ross style imagery.
The best thing Marvel has done in its 80 years.

Marvels is one of those comic that every marvel fan should read at least once in their lifetime.

@@wrlord well it would have been great if they did .
Just remember being in awe of this series when it first came out. Still a beautiful piece of work.
I got my copy back in the 90's it's still amazing to read it all over again
This makes me so nostalgic
I wish he’d do the classic Yellowjacket
Alex Ross gave me my first glimpse of the possibility of a cinematic universe for marvel😏
Master Ross...happy day...🎉

Unbelievable Marvel or DC haven’t adapted one of his comics into a live action film yet. Maybe start with Kingdom Come
in mid 90´s i could get those comics buying by catalogue!!! i was waiting for months til the postal service brought them to me!! i live in Chile, by the way
Love MARVELS! Absolutely love MARVELS
It’s my favorite book by Ross. Love it even more than “Kingdom Come”, partly because I feel more of an inherent connection to Marvel instead of DC.
Lobe this documentary type of videos you have.
Ahhhhh the shitty music is so uneccessary, fascinnating video though.
More ten minute videos please.
What’s that music in the background
I am always amazed how humble Alex Ross is about his influences. This is the greatest lesson.
Love this book

Top content, really.
Let's not forget to mention the great Kent Williams. Havoc and Wolverine was a great collaboration with Muth.
8:54 krucks ; now that's a word you don't hear often
Because that's not the word. That's not a word. It's "crux".
It’s sad that there is no follow-ups to MARVELS, whereas Ross has done a lot more for DC.
@Always watching I know, Ross also did design works for Earth X and Universe X, but nothing like Marvels any more.
I haven't got *Marvels* but I do have *Justice.* Ace books, still are to this day.
