- We use a half dovetail through tenon in almost every one of our designs, including the 24' x 24' design and cut sheet that is included with the Purely Post & Beam online course. This video goes over how to rough out and refine a tenon using a circular saw to make the rough out process much faster. We then go over the refining process by hand, like we do with all of our timber frames. This is a snippet from our Purely Post & Beam online course.

Can't wait!
I have learned to start with a back cut, before I rip cut
It's like a one hour of time for one tenon?
awesome serie of videos. Thank for sharing your hard earned experience. Just out of curiosity, how long does it take to film a 20 minutes segement? Greatly appreciated
Thank you for watching! It takes roughly 30-40 minutes in reality but there is a lot of prep and editing time. Total it probably takes between 10-15 hours!
@@ShelterInstitute lots of work but very professional, clear, concise and dare I say ..... somewhat therapeutic
Ham slices, green pine cuts like carrots
Does that mean only people with brains can use those ear plugs?
Now Imagine if locust was that easy 😂
That would be nice!
@@ShelterInstitutethey would be pine wood ❤
Does it always take you that long to cut a tenon? You could have cut the whole tenon out with two precision slices of the skill saw. Then you wouldn't have had a raised center.
Absolutely! This is a sneak peak of our online timber framing course where we show how to use both hand tools and power tools.
So you don't like using hand tools?
@@Rufio1975 If I can do it an easier and faster way, with the same precision, I will.
It depends a lot on the application too. I would sooner use a drawknife than a debarking tool.

Eh. To each his own. But why watch videos involving hand tools if you'd rather just use power tools. But just my opinion. Peace
Camera needs to focus better. Too fuzzy are the edges of everything.
Have you noticed that the less you kurff , the more likely it is to clean up 🧹?
It’s harder for me if I cut more than the knots and the ends and the center
