    Brilliant video! Great sound from the Baritone Sax player in General Mitchell!! The band were so big on this occasion, with 6 saxes +Baritone, 6 French horns, 3 snare drummers and 4 Tubas!
    The marches are:
    Washington Greys
    General Mitchell
    Colchester Castle
    Bravura
    General Mitchell
    Colchester Castle
    All of these sounded fantastic especially Baruva and Colchester Castle, with the timbre of this large band on parade!must have been a row spectacular parade to witness!

      I'm sure l detected the sound of "Ammo. Boots" ? Being posted to No. 1 Guards Para in Pirbright , my DMS boots were subbed at the RQMS stores for hob nailed ones . At the Para Regt parade in Aldershot , mid-70's, favourable comments were heard . Our unit was represeneted by Airborne Pers. from The Guards Brigade , a variety of uniforms gave the onlookers a pleasant surprise , l'm sure . Being disbanded was a "Soldier On " moment in my career . Best wishes to all !

    I was a P.T. instructor in the Life Guards at Windsor 1954-1958. We would never got out of the gates marching like that! Terrible. Where was the pride in being part of Her Majesty"s Life Guards, and the Army's senior Regiment? It was not on show here Very sad!!

    Methinks the Regimental Corporal Major needs to give a lot of foot drill to his dozy soldiers. I can't believe that they can't march in step. Showed this to a mate who was Corporal of Horse back in 70s and he was disgusted. Arse kicking time.

    Watching them, for all their superb talent, all I can think about is, back in the day, why did they make a strong helmet with a massive baton on top, then fix a giant target-esque tassle to it? Who the hell thought that what soldiers needed most was a giant target on their heads?!!

    • @daniel_sc1024
      @daniel_sc1024 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, one isn't exactly camouflaged when riding across a battlefield on horseback. The last time the Life Guards and the Royal Horse Guards and Royal Dragoons (the later two would be combined to become the Blues and Royals) went into battle in all their "finery" (although different from what they wear today) was at the Battle of Waterloo. The Royal Dragoons also fought in the Crimean War, but their uniform consisted of a red tunic and a metal helmet with short spike - no plume on the helmet, no breastplate. This was a time when rifles had to be reloaded after each shot, and cavalry were a major force (sometimes decisive) on the battle field.
