Top 5 Javert Actors: 1. This guy 2. The guy from the 10th Anniversary Concert 3. The guy from the Complete Symphonic Recording 4. The guy from the 1992 Manchester Cast 5. The guy from the Hey Mr Producer concert
@@Mcfads999 he was. I’m not totally sure but I think Geoff Layton played JVJ and Ruthie Henshall was Fantine in that production. Geoff definitely JVJ in the 2000 production. The tour finished its run in Manchester with about a months run,. I had returned to uni as a mature student and worked at the Palace. It was an amazing experience. The year after Miss Saigon came. A real gent called Leo Valdez played the Engineer. He was as flamboyant in real life as he was in the stage ;-)
I love how he goes from almost reciting the lyrics as a poem to singing. It shows that his emotions get stronger and harder to suppress as the song goes on.
OMG !!!!! ... I was in the audience at the Albert Halll for the 10th Anniversery Concert - THE DREAM CAST - and had the privilege to hear Philip sing 'Stars' ... What a STAR.
Shivers up and down my spine! My favourite performance of stars from the original and best Javert. even though he’s not in costume, he just embodies Javert and knocks it out of the park with all the emotion. Nobody else compares.
Listening to him is like tasting a beautifully aged bottle of bordeaux. Certain elements have mellowed but the deep luscious notes have gained immesurable complexity. This performance is special for almost the same but also entirely different reasons... Breathtaking!!!
This masters performance of Stars is the single greatest rendition of any song I have seen in theatre and I have seen hundreds. An utterly astounding delivrry
By far the best Javert ever! With age his performance of 'stars' even became more beautiful. Full of the experience of life and the toughness it has to offer...
Oh my goodness I didn’t know this existed, The Voice is still amazing! Also, just wanted to say I love the piano playing as well, what a tremendous performance
I saw them perform this version in Sydney in March 2023. The pianist is Anne-Maree MacDonald, a gifted performer in her own right. They teach at the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney but have performed together a few times. PQ calls her his collaborator and has said he wouldn’t perform without her.
SUPERB! "As time goes by" but still the same. Beauty, feeling, power........and without a vibrato. Many younger singers should see, listen and learn!!!
Remember at age 5 seeing the 10th anniversary concert performance and then again had the honor of hearing him sing this at the royal albert hall when he was in the 'Night Of 1000 Voices'. Incredible performance and so wonderful to see that he is still as amazing all these years later. The Best!
By far Mr favorite show and have seen it many times with many different performers. For years my favorite was Colm Wilkinson singing “Bring Him Home”. But since hearing Quast sing that in the. 10th Ann. Celebration, perhaps my favorite not just from Les Miz but of all Musical Theater. Powerful and emotional.
Not only his singing is amazing but his mannerisms of looking upwards toward the stars and showing his admiration for them.. comes off in so many different powerful ways. Philip Quast has leave a lasting impact on my soul.
Oh my god! The very best (in my humble opinion ) He can never be beaten My skin goes into goosebumps mode when I see him sing Stars He is truly amazing when he sings it Full of passion I respect all the others but to me, he's the one xxxxxxx
She is Anne-Maree McDonald, an accomplished singer as well. The co-teach at the National Institute of Dramatic Art. PQ calls her his collaborator and has said he wouldn’t perform these shows without her. I saw them recently (Mar 23), as part of a run of 6 performances only called The Road I Took, where he sang and spoke about songs that had influenced his life.

6. Phillip Quast
Saw him in the 1992 Manchester tour - sent a shiver down my spine in row D of the stalls.
I can’t believe he came to Manchester and I had never seen Les Mis before so I missed him. The best by far

“Javert... After all this time?”
“Always”
Ok that was just too good 💖
Perfect! ❤️

His performance still gives me chills.
‘After all this time?’ ‘Always’.
Shivers up and down my spine! My favourite performance of stars from the original and best Javert. even though he’s not in costume, he just embodies Javert and knocks it out of the park with all the emotion. Nobody else compares.
He owns the role of Javert. No one comes close to playing this role so well as Philip Quast.
I got to see him do a private concert when I was studying at his old school. It was for the resigning Head. He was SO amazing.
He is still the one and only Javert to me, age has only made his voice even more powerful.
62 years old. Ladies and gentlemen, this is what proper and secure vocal technique looks like. The voice is essentially unchanged from the 1990s.....
He will always be myJavert. Absolute perfection.
I cannot find enough words to describe this man’s greatness.
Never has a voice been as well matched to a song as this. An absolute masterpiece
@1:30 the way he speak the line "returns and return" always give me goosebump. Old but gold, Quast is the Javert king
Agree
Totally! And also "and so it is written..."
I was so afraid to watch this because his "Stars" in 10th Anniversary is perfect. But this is just lovely. Incredible talent.
In case anybody needed reminding
Sit back and listen to the undisputed master

Absolutely incredible. Philip will always be ‘JAVERT’. Effortless and powerful.
It is amazing to see how a good singing technique can maintain it in good shape! His voice is almost the same as in the 10th anniversary concert
I think he sounds even better
He has a richness of tone that nobody else can dream of
I saw Philip Quast as Javert in 1992 in Manchester. I had goosebumps then and no one else comes close. So happy to hear how good he still is.
I was in the room for this - have genuinely never felt a more electric inhale from an audience as he began ❤ flawless
His voice is still incredible!!!.. Javert comes to life everytime he sings!!! 💖💖💖
He’s the guy I always recall as the best Javert, with or without his costume, I could tell it’s him solely because of his voice, Philip Quast!
This voice! This rendition! And this unforgettable smile to the stars after 1:23! Philip Quast will always be the best!
OMG he was the first Javert I saw and he will always be the BEST. Magnificent👏👏👏👏❤
Fantastic Lesley thankyou sweetheart.
He is my Javert, Always.
Masterclass on how to sing Stars. The one and only Javert.
Saw him do this in Melbourne last year. I'd go again in a heartbeat.
I envy you.I want you to be able to travel abroad as soon as possible.
Oh did you get the chance to see him at stage door?
His voice is the same. OMG!! so amazing. After so many years, his singing technique remains stunning as the first time I heard him.
He's amazing!
The definitive Javert. Nobody comes close.
He is my absolute favorite Javert. His voice is incredible and goes right through me.
Could I say - his delivery is ever as strong as when I first saw him as Javert in 1985. Brilliant.
Which is even more amazing considering he first played Javert in 1987!
Absolutely stunning. The one and only Javert. What a master!
He is still after Val jean!! Lol you are amazing Phillip

at 28 seconds ''he knows his way in the dark". You immediately know it is Philip Quast.
There is no one else who does it as good as he does. Just perfect for this song. Absolutely beautiful singing.

He is absolute perfection. The one and true javert
He is the best Javert, he has the best voice have ever heard forever. And to hear his voice once again brings tears to my eyes
I first saw him on Les Mis 10th. anniversary Concert. He is, and always be my Javert!
By far the best Javert ever! With age his performance of 'stars' even became more beautiful. Full of the experience of life and the toughness it has to offer...
Another stellar part of the early casting for Le Miserables. Powerful!
He is only six years older than Russell Crowe, they should've so casted him in the movie.
He would have been a million times better than Crowe.

The best Javert - the best voice - wow - rich and golden, full of passion.
