    Douyin takes 50% of the income, 10% for the agency, and only 40% for the streamer. If that is not unfair, I don't know what is.

    • @HONG38

    • @mng8680

      You dont realize a lot of streamers can make way more money from live streaming than from being a waitress. Its not uncommon to make over the equivalent of over $2000USD a month, which is more than average salary of many jobs in China. The most successful live streamers in China are literally making millions of dollars per MONTH! This video talks about Douyin but China has many different live streaming platforms besides that, its an industry worth over a hundreds of billions of dollars. And keep in mind a dollars worth of money can buy you much more in China than in USA.

    • @jont2576
      @jont2576 ปีที่แล้ว

      waitress or cleaner?
      u have no idea how much these people make,even those at the bottom of the pyramid.....like a youtube channel with 30 or 40k subscribers can easily make $500,$600 a month,100k subscribers about $1.3k to $2k a month if they churn out a video a week......and those are just bottom of the barrel......there are even some streamers and youtubers that are parasites and leeches,after a couple of years and they realise they have hit their peak and arent growing anymore but they refuse to quit and get a job,like stuck with sub 100k or 200k accounts, they basically turn their streams into begging streams.....begging and guilt tripping their viewers into donating every stream, their fan base becomes like their welfare support,they still manage to 'beg" like $100 to $200 a session and easily a few grand a month....
      and the biggest streamers shyt.....the ones that have 10k+ people watching every streams.every few minutes they have $5,$10 donations pouring in,sometimes even $50 and $100 is nothing,sometimes they even get thousands of dollars in a single donation. its like insane after every stream they spend like an hour or two thanking people, and they have hundreds of people to thank......

    • @skyworm8006
      @skyworm8006 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are probably educated and experienced enough to get a better job than those. But a better job, a waitress, a cleaner pay far less in China. You don't need to be a huge streamer either. You basically need a core community of people with a parasocial relationship with you. Mind you, 90% of the people who go all in streaming will fail to earn enough to make it worthwhile, and either give up and focus on something else (because it is so time consuming) or stick with it through poverty hoping they'll break through.
      @mng8680 comment makes it seem like people are making lots of money but the majority are not. It's not a secure or smart thing to do if you have a better path or you don't enjoy being an entertainer.
      btw the reason they use an agency is because all that equipment, which you need by default, is very expensive and getting opportunities on their own or building a brand would be a lot harder.

    • @moira4784
      @moira4784 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      @@mng8680 yes some are making money no doubt. At the end of the day, it isn't a stable career if you aren't a well known influencer. Those making bank are big ones who don't have to go on the street at night so they look more pitiful to garner sympathy and more donations. If you whole career is based off that with you only ranking in 40% of the total income, I can tell you these particular streamers ain't mkaing much at the end of the day. See how many of them were on that street alone?? Especially now were costs of living are increasing I doubt people are willing to tip generously unless they really like your content. Saturation of the market is real ya'll.

      Well theyre still young and can afford to be entrepreneurial, some might have a goal to grow their viewerbase in the long term. Theres always the option for them to go back to doing the more traditional stable income jobs if they decide streaming isnt working out, a lot of them actually have university level education so they can likely find a different job if they tried hard enough.

To me it looks like a pretty fun activity cause there are other people doing the exact same thing which you can chat with. These people arent forced to live stream or do it outdoors, they said they do it just to stand out from other live streamers to get more tips. Nothing in video suggests they are homeless or struggling financially if they dont live stream outdoors.
