    From a general observation, the western hemisphere in general seems to hit and throw a good bit harder than the Japanese and Koreans, whereas the Japanese and Koreans play with more technicality and finesse. Could be the reason behind the thicker feel for American gloves.

      They use rubber balls in Japan. The Rawlings gloves with model numbers beginning with “GR” are for rubber ball. They are not made as heavy.

      @@googlemail6996there are hardball gloves as well, they’re also made lighter so I feel like it’s made more for function because of the style of fielding while ours might be more for comfort and protection

    One of the best parts about living in Japan, walked in the sporting goods store looking for batting gloves, saw a brand new Wilson Staff infielder glove sitting on the time sale rack. It was previously returned with the tag still on minus box and bag, going for the equivalent of $150. It was a no brainer.

    Awesome video! I’m loving the consistency. Is there a way to tie the triple thumb loops or does everyone just keep them undone?

    Just picked up a Wilson a1000 made in Japan in 2003. 12.5" Just picked it up new on eBay for my boy. He's starting middle school ball this year. I wanted something decent. Not top the line but not bottom of the line. Almost got a Rawlings gamer xle but came across the Wilson on eBay. Them older Japan made gloves are really nice! When I come across them I like to snag em. Esp this one being brand new. Got it for 165 shipped.

    I have an A2K super skin and have had it a decade it’s much lighter than the full leather
    Down side? It doesn’t hold its shape nearly as well. I have an A2000 el3 that I bought around the same time and I like that glove so much more. Holds its shape significantly better.

    cool glove! Is this one made for baseball or Japanese rubber ball? Most of the HOH and Wilsons from Japan on ebay say made for rubber but can be used for real baseball

      This one is a baseball glove. And while yes you can use a rubberball glove for hardball, it won’t be as durable

    Wilson staffs are like Rawlings R2 Gs. They look cool and they’re made with good quality leather. But I can close it right out of the box or well in Japan the bag. There’s no break-in required. I threw a baseball in about 10 times and it was game ready.

    Man I was a Wilson and Rawlings guy for years. When it comes to Japanese gloves, they just bringing gloves to another level. You should try a JP brand that is called Kubota Slugger, but their gloves really required hot water treatment for breaking in, otherwise that would be really hard to break in and the outcome won’t be great as well. Trust me if you happen to have a chance to get a kubota gloves, you must have a try once in your life.

    You were able to close that Wilson staff right out of the box and it was really floppy. That’s really not a good thing. I mean some people may like it. But gloves are supposed to come a little stiff so you can break them in. they can form to your hand, etc. I know Japanese gloves are much lighter and have less padding. But I have a bunch of them. I have an IPP select Rag. A bunchof Zetts, atom ect. They come stiff.

    • @914ballgloves8
      @914ballgloves8  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah I guess I could close it out of the box but only the heel gave; The thumb, pinky, wrist, and pocket were still very stiff. For an outfield glove I really really like this. I have yet to try IP select and zett, looking forward to that!

    The 1786 and new wilsons have the soft mushy hand stall now, and the staff looks to have the normal leather as pre 2000 models had which feels much better. USA wilsons going downhill.
