This is literally the best F16 tutorial I’ve ever seen. Learning how to do this opened up probably the most fun and exciting way to fly the F16! Thank you!
Wow dude. The low alt harm shot without exposing your jet is amazing. I was thinking you were going to pop over the hill but nope. Its really cool to see them hard turn and speed off! Great tutorials all around.
Thanks! i just tried this out. great for short range, but it might be worth mentioning the closer the shot, the better probability of kill you have, but your mileage may vary.
Wow, as a hornet/tomcat/warthog player this is extremely cool using the HCMS to set a mark point as a TOO attack. Generally If its a sam system I am unaware of I will rattle one off in SP mode, but otherwise will set manual WP's for targetted emitter attacks, as if RP'ing an actual SEAD attack. Very cool to see how the Viper can re-act to targets on the fly.
@@FLYGaffer Well it is an absolute pleasure for me too. I love the community contribution and the professionalism, it really makes our dreams come true. Once again, many thanks for all you do. Kind regards, Nick
nice video. mark + HMD is perfect to tag ground targets to attack them add in multiple SA10 that have slight over lap, SA15s and manpads around the area, then add in fighters coming to intercept you. also ive seen launchers further from track radar and ive seen 2 flatlid track radar. so even i got a launch warning from the TR, the middle was coming from a difference direction, and much closer than i thought.
What I don't understand, you go for the Flaplid ("10"), but with no lock on you the Flaplid shouldn't necessarily point at your / the incoming HARM's direction, so with no valuable radar emission it shouldn't be able to pick up a beacon to home on. In my settings I almost never hit the "10" as long as it isn't painting me. What I try is popping up at 8nm, letting the Clamshell get me, then the Flaplid to paint me and then I launch the HARM and keep the radar to paint me.
Really appreciate seeing this non-HTS method. I’m not sure if there will be a mission/server where the pods will be unavailable for some reason in the future and it’s great to have an effective backup.
Nice. Would love to see you take out a combination of SA-10, SA-15, SA-19 at the same site. Pukin Dog, who uses a Harrier and LJDAMs brags about the Harrier being better at SEAD than the Viper. Please proove him wrong! ;-)
I have an older video, I think titled HARM vs SA-10 where I use the HAD. In a nutshell, use the HAD to get the TGP pointed in the general direction of the SAM site. It’s not super precise. Look around until you spot the SAM, then use the TGP to create a mark point at the SAM site. From there, set the mark point as active steerpoint and you can shoot a HARM the same way as I did in this video.
Did that in another video. Also just FYI use the HTS pod to find the site in the TPOD then create a mark point and use that for your attack. From close range, the missiles need to know exactly where to go.
@@Stratilizer I think the point of this video is to show the quick reaction for SAM with use of HMD. Actually pinning the mark point to location of launch zone is common technique. It is much faster than HTS is able to get the precise location, plus usually SAM sites enable radars in last second (totally opposite to what we can find in bare DCS).

That low altitude shot and watching the HARMs turn like that was insane. I had no idea that was a function you could even do
I learn something new every time I'm here.
getting chased by SAMs in VR is an experience that tops anything I've done before, I'm so in love with dcs right now
Thanks for all the informational videos! Always enjoy learning using your videos

Somewhere between 8-9.5 miles seems to work well. Any closer and sometimes the missiles won’t loft and won’t see the target reliably
@@FLYGaffer RUK suppresses lofting so it might see it better

You can do it with the hornet too, creating temporary waypoints using the jhmcs
You can do the same thing in the A-10CII
Wonderful videos, smooth, calm and effective. Many Thanks for your passion and support. Nick
Much appreciated. This is my 11th year flying in DCS. It's been awesome to see the community grow and I am excited for 2023!

Easy to follow! I really enjoyed this. Keep doing what you're doing!
I appreciate it!
You should have WAAAAY more than 5500 subs dude!! Very very good content!! You now have one more sub!

I have definitely flown some missions where newer tech like pods/gps/laser weapons are restricted. I always enjoy those to be honest!
Nice.

Hmm.. I don't see a way to make my TGP as a Mark Point using SEQ right.
When dodging missiles, i really think you wanna visually confirm that it's defeated before putting your eyes on the car stereo ;-)
Can you use the had this way as well?

@Gaffer why though normally I just lock something with the had and then boom off the missile goes
try using the hts pod...way easier

@@FLYGafferThe harm gets the coordinates from the hts pod. as long as it gets pgm2 or pgm1 on the had page it should hit

What does the 35 next to the distance mean? I get sometimes confused when I go to the f16 after a while.
